March 3, 2012: Where in the recovery process are you? We are not there yet, but we are getting closer…and I KNOW we will get there. xx Goddess
“If I had to say where we were in the recovery process, I’d say he’s in the front seat of the prison bus. He’s not chained to the seat, but I’m not sure he realizes it. There are no metal bars on his window and in fact, it’s open. All we have to do now is get him to jump through it, or better yet, kick the whole frame in and leap onto the Recovery Bus my husband and I drive right alongside him.”

Janice Tabor Miles We are getting so close…I feel like he is 60% recovered. We now have language, writing and reading at age 6. I was watching the videos of him using sign language just 3 short years ago and I never thought we’d come this far. He still stims and can’t stop moving, yeast flare ups are constantly lurking…but we have conversations now…he asks us probing questions. He doesn’t socialize at school at all. 🙁 He has a long way to go on safety awareness…but he WILL get off the bus. I just know it.March 3 at 8:25pm · Like · 4

Traci Bauer-Vowell We are recovered…..dr said this week at Cincinnati childrens maybe ADHD ….the eval’s start (again) April 2nd….thru June….I’m keeping this secret on my Facebook page As this small town word will get around. dr agrees he needs to keep some services (at school) in place…but just by observation she said she saw no obvious signs….I teared up. Not celebrating yet. But GFCFSF for 4 years now…22 months ~ 6 years. Autism surely is reversible. XoxoMarch 3 at 9:19pm · Like · 7

Riley Hickman Goddess your son sounds a lot like our daughter. Everyone kept telling us she had apraxia etc. You have probably already tried B12 injections but that did it for our daughter. We did a major round of detox then started b12 injections (and I think we were close to 32 hours a week of various therapies). 9 days later the words started coming. Even her doctors and therapists that don’t buy the biomedical stuff had to take notice.March 3 at 10:01pm · Like · 2

The Thinking Moms’ Revolution Riley Hickman That is SO awesome–I LOVE hearing that because it gives me so much hope!! yep-we have the apraxia dx along with autism. Oh, we’ve done b-12 injections for years, and DMG, folinic, l-carnosine, ALC, trialed Lamictal & Namenda, steroids, the works! We do fish oils, vit e, tried nutriiveda, we do PROMPT 5x/week plus 30 hours of VBA/OT, leucovorin for CFD, homeopathy-classical and CEASE and GcMAF. Oh, and HBOT, sensory learning, music therapy and all kinds of diet tinkering plus a million things that I am forgetting at the moment…if its out there, I’ve auctioned my shoe collection to give it a shot. I really feel like he is getting close. We’re really digging into the viral part now as his reaction to GcMAF is really amazing. And that’s great you got your doc to take notice–that is what it is about–changing one mind at a time!!!March 3 at 10:13pm · Like

Julie Elrod Sarafian For us it was the GFCF that made the biggest difference. Have you checked carnitine levels?March 3 at 10:20pm · Like

Carolyn Hughes Shepherd @ goddess.. have you tried Cutler protocol? they just started blogging about it over on the GR page. Only thing that seems to be getting through to one of my identical twins and we have tried *many* things. They turn 6 next week, no words yet but mHBOT helped his brother last year with speech and this seems to be working for him in a way that nothing else has. We are not even close to recovery, but are starting to see progress with this. mb-12 did nothing here ;@(March 3 at 10:23pm · Like · 2

The Thinking Moms’ Revolution oh yeah, we do that too–see, I knew i would forget something and that is great for us actually. Right now we do GcMAF, CEASE and AC Chelation. It’s working. I love CEASE–we are getting tons of awareness and gains from it. GFCF Julie–24 hours after starting the diet cold turkey, he turned to his name for the first time. it works for us too 🙂 we just tinkered with it to try the No Harm Foundation’s version to lower manganese which I read somewhere can interfere with speech (his levels were high). Hoping it helps. Yes Carntine levels are good….actually, his bloodwork looks pretty unremarkable for the most part…he had 4 of 5 mito markers 2.5 years ago and they are all in the normal ranges now. We just did a full viral panel the other day and another nagalese test to see where we are with that….but things are definitely progressing.March 3 at 10:43pm · Like

Kelly Hauser Steffens Goddess – you will get there. My daughter is 9. She was so far gone in the beginning, that I have a hard time thinking about those days. Our recovery has been Long and hard and expensive….but we are going to mainstream her next fall. She is doing remarkably well. We had to fix all the medical stuff first, before she responded to therapies. You will get there too….March 4 at 3:23am · Like · 3
