March 9, 2012: What Will You Do WHEN Your Child Recovers?

March 9, 2012: Goddess here. So, yesterday a friend of mine with a pre-verbal ASD kiddo bought Harry a new ipad app that is ABA based and supposed to help facilitate speech. I told her if Harry started talking I would give her a big fat wet kiss at Autism One in May. She responded that if her son started talking before then she would hump me for finding the app…haha. I have a friend whose hubby has to get a Brazilian when his son recovers. It got me thinking….what will you do WHEN your child recovers????

Hopefully with a friend who also has a recently revovered child & knows what a miracle it will be to be doing whatever we want, whenever we please! That’s my dream.

    • Karen Elmquist A sigh of relief, yes. But the job has just begun at that point. I wish I could turn my emotions off to the rest of the world who suffers from this, but I can’t. My mission will become much more difficult once we hit recovery because it means that I, along with all of you, will have to spread the knowledge as best as we can, against the powers that be, in order to affect change in this world for all of our children to benefit from.

    • Diana DjFox Gonzales I’m going to have a conversation with him. A real what’s on your mind conversation. Then I’ll get on my knees and tearfully thank the God who lead me to all the help. Then I will go back to the ones who thought I was trying everything in vain and tell them to SUCK IT!!!!!

And have sex at normal times, not just at 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. 😉 And spend every waking minute making sure it doesn’t happen to another child on my watch. And huge the living daylights out of that little man. Chillls just thinkin about it…

    • Velma Rodrigues First thing, thank the man upstairs. Second, put on our Sunday best clothing… Walk into the Regional Center, straight to the prick of a Dr. who diagnosed my kiddo with NO hope of any level of functioning past a 2 yr old and hand him an invitation to our recovery party. =)

    • Riley Hickman I would do anything she wanted. I would ask her what was going on in her mind. Then I would have a mini-breakdown because I wouldn’t have to pretend to be strong for everyone anymore. After that I would find a way to help other kids with what we know.

    • Velma Rodrigues I really have to think about this as it is going to happen. I’d want to do a ton of things… But taking trips to all the Drs who said to just “accept” Autism would be at the top of my list.

    • Cathy Brennan Reilly There WILL be a party, but then the real work starts – to work the rest of my life to stop this unbelievable maiming of our children and help heal the ones I couldn’t get to in time.

    • Marianna Babayeva Enjoy my kids! Never will I take a kiss, a hug, a smile, an “I love you” for granted. I will thank G-d for giving me an amzing family and for giving me the strength and determination to recover him. Until then, I dream….

    • Dana Zezza Tuorto I’m going to the witch that diagnosed my baby boy, and told me he will always be Autistic and in time I might see some changes……..I’m going to tell her “look at my boy now you wench!” Then we are heading down south to visit the Goddess & give her the biggest hug ever cause she stared us on the road to recovery!

    • Risa Irrera I have always been of the belief that computors were the answer to the autistic come-out. We all know that the thoughts and feelings are in there and that something would come along for them to getit out. Dana, I am so glad to have seen you and the kids. Anthony is like a new child. He is responsive. Pays attention. Looks at whoever is speaking and when he shook my hand that was such a positive reaction!! God picks special people to give special children to. You and Michael have been blessed.
