Silent Sunday: What’s Wrong With This Picture?

So we can place a warning label on a green juice from Whole Foods, but we don’t need to place a label on Genetically Modified Foods?

Exactly. I find it amusing that they steer pregnant women away from bean sprouts, raw fish, raw milk, and a host of other whole foods for fear of a virus infecting the baby. But if you’re nauseous, they’re quick to encourage Zofran. If your water broke they are quick to dose you with antibiotics for fear of bacteria jumping into your vagina. Cause bean sprouts can get through your placenta but Zofran most certainly cannot. Sheesh. I’d love to hear a lecture on THAT irony at your typical med school.

For the record I agree w u, I’m on ur side & not disagreeing w what u r saying here at all. Just wanted to share my experience w zofran. I was one of those woman put on zofran for both my pregnancies; however, it wasn’t for “nausea” though! A lil nausea would of been preferred, lemme tell ya!!!! I had hyperemesis and practically lived in the bathroom all 9months hovered over the porcelain god. I threw up in the most unimaginable places-out the car door side of the road, behind a tree in the park, my classroom garbage can in front of my students…..crazy. It was morning, noon & night sickness! I had zero appetite, no cravings & cld not even keep down half a saltine cracker. Most of the time I threw up saliva & bile bc the vomiting reflex just would not quit. I lost 5lbs in the first 6wks & was sent to the hospital to get IV fluid for dehydration at least 4-5x thruout each pregnancy. Once I started taking zofran, I’d ONLY throw up once or twice a day, was able to keep half a plate of food down most of the time & started having cravings for citrus juices & Italian ices (bc I was so friggin dehydrated). Miraculous zofran helped me gain 32lbs w/ preg #1 & 19lbs w/ preg #2, which thankfully went straight to the babies & not my ass. LOL

How can a regular consumer find out what is GMO?

Laura, good to see another ES list mom here and a shout out to the DS community! And I have seen signs similar to that here by Chicago. Yes, what is wrong with this picture?x

This is absolutely crazy. It is a juiced drink!! Makes me cringe that that they make a label for that but not gmo food!! Can’t stop the fight to label gmo foods, I think we need to start getting a little louder

Whole Foods CEO was on one of those Dr. shows the other day. He said that within the next few years, if the suppliers do not put a label saying GMO/No GMO he will not supply them anymore. 🙂 Hope he stays true to his word!

Our world is so upside down. :/
