Kim Stagliano is the mother of three girls with Autism. I wanted that to be the first thing I said about her because while I find myself attending yet another of my own pity parties, I often see Kim out on the front lines raising awareness, lending support and providing information. Being the mother of three autistic girls doesn’t define Kim. Her warrior spirit and wicked sense of humor do. She’s an author, advocate, Autism mom, and all around pretty awesome chick. She is the Managing Editor of Age of Autism as well as a published author of books including All I Can Handle: I’m No Mother Teresa: A Life Raising Three Daughters with Autism. Oh… and she has incredible hair. She pretty much blows my mind.
This is a short three minute interview I did with her at the AutismOne/ Generation Rescue Conference last May. My ego says I shouldn’t post it. I’m practically tripping over my tongue trying to talk to Kim. Watching it makes me giggle. Is it possible to get a little star struck by someone you consider a friend? I couldn’t even remember the name of her book! I actually look intimidated. I can assure you Kim Stagliano is one of the most down to earth people I know and is in no way intimidating though some might say she’s definitely awe-inspiring. Is that over the top? Maybe. But I’m in that camp. I’d say she’s awe-inspiring. I’m awed.
Anyway, forgive me for looking flustered. I was.
