How I Kickstart My Children’s Health with Nutrient-Dense Foods by Corganic!

Mama-MacThere are a few mistakes I’ve made, and I’ve heard other parents talking about as well, when it comes to providing optimal nutrition to kids with autism and other developmental issues.

Sometimes we can fall into a rut where everything the child is eating is “legal” for the diet they’re on, i.e., no gluten or diary or soy. However, most of it is packaged, with long ingredient lists, and devoid of much nutrition. An awful lot of gluten-free and casein-free foods can be packed with sugar to make them more palatable, too. All too often, we fall into a rut with a picky or sensory defensive eater or rely on supplements as the magic pill, hoping to make up for what our children aren’t eating.

The Thinking Moms’ Revolution was thrilled to have Corganic as a Gold Sponsor for our eConference  GMOs, Organics and Food Allergies; How To Feed Your Family WithoutLosing Your Mind, which aired live on October 7, 2014 and is available in its recorded version for a full calendar year ending October 7, 2015.

The founders of Corganic, Dan Corrigan, Karen Myers and Archie Welch, believe diet is the foundation in recovering one’s health. Proper nutrition isn’t just about avoiding certain foods, but also obtaining foods that are nutrient rich, free of preservatives, food colorings, GMOs, pesticides, hormones and chemicals that can slow and even reverse the healing process.

granolaCorganic.com is an online shopping cart where the unique line of Organic 3, Inc.  digestive supplements are for sale along with the highest quality food and nutrition products, all closely aligned with the GAPS Diet.

Corganic carries a small, hand-crafted selection of probiotics and digestive enzymes. The goal behind these products is to kickstart the digestive system and maximize the digestion of nutrient-dense foods. Once the digestive system has gained a measure of healing, there can be less reliance on supplements and more food-based probiotics, nutritious broths, good fats and other healing foods.

Corganic sources and sells “real food” which is nutrient dense and carries a very short and easy-to-recognize ingredient list. They have a selection of fats and oils that you won’t find anywhere else.

evcloFish oil is often one of the first supplements suggested for a child diagnosed with autism. It was the first supplement we tried with Nick when he was three years old, and we have used many brands over the years. Unhappy with the poor quality of fish oils on the market, Corganic worked with a small traditional family-run company in Norway to develop a fresh cod liver oil called Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO).

No other fish oil on the planet has higher levels of vitamin D3 and vitamin A, essential for good health. Fresh cod liver oil means it has no rancid by-products that can wreak havoc on sensitive digestive systems.

In my last post about Corganic I mentioned that we were using their Gutpro probiotic and have been happy with the results. After learning more about their Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil, I am going to switch to this as well. We had moved away from fish oils for EPA/DHA and had been using a vegan flax, sesame and sunflower seed blend because of my concerns about the processing and oxidation of most fish oils on the market.

Most fish oils on the market are highly processed, which destroys the natural vitamins which are then added back in synthetically. Synthetic vitamins are not easily assimilated and can cause vitamin toxicity. EVCLO contains all of the nutrients inherent in a living codfish just as nature intended. More importantly, raw EVCLO contains copious amounts of Omega 3 DHA/EPA and a host of additional fatty acids some with healing attributes that are just now being studied.

beef brothCorganic is thoughtfully building up its repertoire of nutrient-dense foods for sale with the brand new addition of the GAPS staple beef and chicken broth  and three flavors of grain-free granola. They are continually adding products, with future products to include raw cheeses, mineral-rich salts, raw honey, trace minerals, and much more.

Finding the right supplements and healing foods can be a full-time job on top of taking care of a child with special needs. Corganic sources products from dozens of suppliers with the intent of obtaining only the best for your child. Corganic makes life a little bit easier for you. They have sourced the best foods and supplements, and when the best wasn’t available, they created it, i.e. fish oils, butter oil, probiotics, digestive enzymes, etc. They are a one-stop shop for the finest supplements and foods found anywhere, saving you precious time and energy. Corganic is a wonderful resource for parents interested in healing  their children, beginning at the foundation of health: the absorption and digestion of nutrient-dense food.

2 other reputable and high quality fish oils are Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil (they also have butter oil and a blend of the two), and Omega Cure by Omega 3 Innovations. They’re both whole food supplements, keeping it intact instead of processing it like every other manufacturer.
