“Blessed is the servant who loves his brother as much when he is sick and useless as when he is well and can be of service to him. And blessed is he who loves his brother as well when he is afar off as when he is by his side, and who would say nothing behind his back he might not, in love, say before his face.” St Francis of Assisi

Beautiful quote – beautiful picture <3
This brought tears to my eyes. So very true.
Beautiful!
and sisterly…
Boy does this hit home today. 20 years ago my then 7.6 year old son finally got to be a forever big brother. After a failed adoption ( foster child, long story) and a string of other temporary children passing through our home…I had a surprise, and gave birth to a second son. In the hospital my older son crawled up on the bed and held his new brother sobbing and saying “Nobody will ever take him from me, NOBODY will come into our home and take him away.” Nobody did, but something did….that something was a vaccine or rather a long list of vaccines. We lost John 110%. The gulf between brothers was wider than the gulf of Mexico. It’s hard to understand when you are 10 that the brother you adored, is now just a shell, a breathing, crying, screaming blob of humanity, and not the should be 3 year old brother you had such grand plans for. The gulf as closed a bit over the years…and there is a lot of love between them now…but that hurt remains…that thought that nobody can take him away…and yet…it happened anyway…yes we do relive it every year in August when John has a birthday.
