20 Under 20

mamamacComing off the high heels of Mother’s Day, here are twenty soothing and healing strategies for moms under twenty bucks! We would all like to be taking better care of ourselves but it’s hard to justify the cost when you’re budget is already buckling under the pressure of healing your child. This list is packed with gentle, inexpensive and easy to access self-care tips.

Go ahead, indulge yourself!

1. Flat Belly Detox Water: Saint told me about this last weekend and I love it so much I can’t keep enough of it in the fridge. Drink up!

2. Bentonite Clay Mask: Mix in equal parts clay and Apple Cider Vinegar (I usually do 1 Tbs of each) take the mask off just before it starts to dry, about 5 minutes.

It doesn’t matter how tiny they are, could be as tiny as ‘I get to try that new essential oil that just came in the mail’.

4. Get Moving: Commit to getting some exercise every single day even if it’s just walking the dog for 10 minutes. I love this yoga instructor.

5. Lemon Liver Water: I just learned about this last weekend at Fearless Parent/TMR Food event in NJ. Add 1 drop of lemon oil to your water bottle. So simple and so good for you.

6. Go To Bed: Commit to going to bed 30 minutes earlier than you have been. I mean seriously, haven’t you done enough today?

7. Going To Sleep Grateful: Right after you turn off the light think of five things you feel grateful for.

8. Go To The Movies: Haven’t seen Grand Budapest Hotel yet? It’s a beautiful, funny vacation for your rattled brain. Do it.

9. Charge It: Not your credit card, your water silly. Charge it with 10256963_753701687993675_2340213039722610046_ncrystals.

10. Set Your Intentions: We’re not done with that water bottle yet. Charge it with intention. Sounds cray-cray? Read this. Not so crazy after all.

11. Forgive Someone: In your head and in your heart. Don’t even need to have a conversation with them. Do it. Right now. The first person that comes into your head. Do it again tomorrow.

12. Need a Backrub? Roll a tennis ball under your spinecause sometimes we gotta take matters into our own hands.10313954_753700724660438_2024498942185901047_n

13. Be Quiet: Sit still for five minutes every day. It’s hard, I know it doesn’t come easily to me either. But in that phone free, tv-free quiet you will find the answer to today’s question.

14. Get Off The Phone! Seriously, walk away from the computer, Facebook, Ipad, email, even the tv. Don’t sleep in the same room as a charging electronic and unplug the Wifi in the house at night.

15. Change is Good: Move the furniture around in one room. My friend Stephanie Turillo says that when we change the direction and patterns of energy flow in our living spaces we free up the energetic changes we are making emotionally to push through. Plus you’ve always thought the couch would look better under the window!

16. Smudge It: Then burn some sage in each room. Out with old and in with the new!

17. Take Your Shoes Off! Go outside, take your shoes off and feel how good the earth feels under your feet. Get grounded.

18. The Butt Brew: Yeah I went there! Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it. I know some gloriously healthy looking mamas who swear by these.

19. Salt of the Earth: We all know Epsom Salt baths are terrific but regular salt baths are awesome too, you just need more, a lot more salt. Use 9 cups of table salt (can be bought at Home Depot as Morton’s pure pool salt, in 40lb bags for about $8) in your regular bath. By raising the salt content higher in the water than in your body you are nudging your cells to push out toxins.

20. Flush It! Do a liver flush: More fun with a buddy because you can laugh along the way. Outcome: increased energy!!

So there you have it, 20 things you can do for yourself to help you keep yourself going in these crazy days. We deserve to be taken care of too, we just might have to do it for ourselves!

All my best,

Mama Mac
