Vaccines Caused My Son’s Autism

BlazeI have been in the world of special-needs advocacy for 10 years, and in that time I have come across countless people who are defensive, close-minded, and extremely indoctrinated about their across-the-board absolute statements that vaccines can’t cause autism.  These people are often applauded or even possibly financially compensated for their stance.

After a decade of some disappointing and one-sided conversations, I refuse to go toe-to-toe with these people anymore, because they are not going to hear me, and I am not going to hear them.  But I would like to go on record with a quick list of how I know it did (in my son’s situation), and does happen.  VACCINES CAN CAUSE “AUTISM.”  THEY CAUSED MY SON’S “AUTISM.”  THEY CAUSED MANY OF MY FRIENDS’ CHILDREN’S “AUTISM.”

15109_10152003339782572_1943181146_n

Here’s what I want to say to all the people who say it isn’t so:

1)  Many people have been compensated in vaccine court for medical issues that are a part of their autism and even autism itself.  If the American government is paying people who have autism due to vaccine-injury, how can you say vaccines don’t cause autism?

2)  Many autoimmune issues are scattered throughout my family including lupus, epilepsy, asthma, allergies, and eczema.  How do you attempt to trick a baby’s immune system, when that system is likely not functioning properly? Thirteen needles worth of maniuplation by six months of age without consideration for family history is just plain old insanity, actually.  But that’s what happened to my son.

3) Speaking of family history, my sister spent a week in the hospital after the MMR at age 7, and my cousin contracted a “rare blood disease” after her nursing school vaccines at age 24.  My sister was never vaccinated again per her pediatrician, and my cousin will never vaccinate herself or any child she may have, either. Which leads to the argument that there are people who cannot handle vaccines, and that’s why everyone ELSE should be vaccinated — to create herd immunity for those that are contraindicated, immune-challenged individuals like my son.  Well, no one is considering each child’s vulnerability.  No one. Every child is vaccinated with no questions asked (unless the parent refuses). In addition, herd immunity is nothing more than a theory. I haven’t been vaccinated in years. And I certainly wasn’t vaccinated against much.  Studies show immunity wanes in 2-10 years. I’ve had maybe seven vaccines. How many adults do you know who are fully vaccinated?

4)  I worked for a pediatrician as an autism family advocate. I did intake for approximately 300 families with children with autism.  I took my story to the CDC.  From what I saw, many of these families and their previous doctors linked vaccines to their children’s issues.   There were no “coincidences.”  Like my family, more than half had autoimmune family histories.

5)  As an activist in children’s health, you meet many moms who have
sick children.  Some of them have kids with autism, some with PANDAS/PANS, some with life-threatening allergies, others with the most terrible of attention/behavior issues, skin issues, learning issues, sleep issues, breathing issues.  Some with mitochondrial disorders, some with genetic issues in the family, some even courageously face cancer.  Because most of these issues can overlap, we may not even see it because we don’t know what “normal” looks like anymore. Children with chronic health issues have become the norm.  Many things can be connected to the declining health of America, but some things stand out:  the uptake in vaccines; the uptake in the use of Roundup and GMOs; the uptake in general use of chemicals with no safety data, making vaccines just that much more potentially harmful. All combining to poison our children.

6)  My son’s issues have improved dramatically from treatment for vaccine injury.  He has been treated for heavy metal burden, immune system dysfunction involving hard to treat systemic pathogens, gut dysbiosis and inflammation.  And his life is going to turn out great, you know why?  We TREATED the vaccine injury.  He was basically non-verbal at four and not toileting at age five. He is now a seventh grader and is fully included.  You can read more about him and our path in the last chapter of The Thinking Moms’ book.

7)  And finally, here’s the rub.  My son’s pediatrician concluded that his autism was caused by his vaccines.  You do not know my child.  His doctor and his parents do.

I am completely aware that this might not be your child’s story.  I am only telling ours.  Our TRUTH.

294 Responses to Vaccines Caused My Son’s Autism

  1. Former Believer, Learned the Hard Way says:

Jon & Lexi: it’s too late. Too many people know that SOME children (and even some adults) do have catastrophic neurological reactions to vaccines. Call it autism, call it vaccine-induced brain damage, call it whatever you want. It’s too late to convince people to unsee what they’ve seen.

It’s like when tobacco executives STILL insist that tobacco doesn’t cause cancer.

    We know better.

We have hit the tipping point, where too many people have seen family members and friends with obvious neurological reactions to vaccines, to believe the industry lies any more.

And that makes the industry’s “media relations teams” ineffective.

    • Lara says:

Former Believer, you are correct. We have seen too much. In a circumstance of extreme (unbelievable?) coincidence, I have a daughter with “autism,” a half-brother with Asperger’s, a nephew with Asperger’s, and a next-door neighbor with autism. Now, I’m not biologically related to my neighbor. They aren’t family. But here’s the kicker. The only one I’m biologically related to is my daughter. My husband and his sister were adopted. My nephew isn’t biologically related to my child. My half-brother is adopted. Also, not a bio relative. That’s how common “autism” is these days. I’m surrounded.

Autism was in quotes because I dont believe that’s what most of these children have. It’s brain damage from multiple sources, including vaccines.

My daughter regressed at 9 months following DTaP vaccination. I think it was just one assault too many and tipped her over the edge.

  2. Jon says:

Honestly cant believe this is still a going. Also couldn’t help but notice Professor has gotten increasingly aggressive over time. Following is from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia…you know, actual EXPERTS in children’s health.

    https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/vaccine-education-center/vaccines-and-other-conditions/vaccines-autism

    • ProfessorTMR says:

“Increasingly aggressive” with people who JOKE about sick children?

Fuck yeah, I’m “increasingly aggressive” about that because state governments, including mine, have gotten increasingly aggressive about MAKING them sick.

      And–surprise!–that pisses me off.

      Sorry, not sorry.

      • Gwen says:

        Professor,
I read you post some time ago, and it gave me some real direction on what not to do regarding vaccines. I read “The Vaccine-Friendly Plan” and gained more information. But what I am looking for now is good direction on detoxing my children. I have two that several years ago had their CDC recommended vaccines up through age 5… then I started educating myself. They both struggle with sensory-input disorders (each in their own “flavor”). Where could you direct me to research?
        Thank you!

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Hi, Gwen! So glad to have been able to help.

So… There are many books that can help jumpstart your info. The main thing to remember is that there are numerous pathways to get where you are, so there are numerous pathways out. Not all of them are appropriate for every child. I would suggest reading a bit to get your feet wet and to get an intuitive understanding of which toxins may be affecting your children. Your approach could be significantly different if they are being primarily affected by a microbiome imbalance, or high mercury exposure, or high lead exposure, or even toxic mold exposure.

        Check out
Outsmarting Autism, by Patricia Lemer (it is from the viewpoint of autism, but autism is just a more extreme version of what we’re talking about)
Almost Autism, by Maria Rickert Hong (specifically about sensory processing disorder)
The Impossible Cure, by Amy Lansky (about a homeopathic approach to healing)
Learn about “Andy Cutler Chelation” (ACC) also known as “low-dose chelation” for mercury detox.
Read articles by Christopher Exley about the use of silica-rich water to detox aluminum.
And read our studies on IonCleanse detox to get a sense of what that can do.
You also should explore homotoxicology. Mary Coyle has a chapter on that in Cutting Edge Therapies for Autism. That has been particularly helpful for my son’s detoxification from lead and toxic mold.

Lots of people would say find a practitioner first, but I’m of the opinion that most practitioners have a favorite approach, kind of like the guy with a hammer who sees only nails, and that can often entail a waste of a lot of time and energy that most people don’t have. See if you have an intuitive pull toward a specific intervention and then run with it.

        Good luck!

    • Lexi says:

Forget it, Jon. The “Professor” prefers endangering lives with lies to making sure we live in a healthy and disease-free community. Doesn’t matter that she has no actual scientific facts – autism is worse than death, as far as she’s concerned, so she doesn’t care if her lies hurt other people.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Lexi, dear, you too can fuck off. I’ve been posting “actual scientific facts” for the last seven years. I can’t help it if you can’t read.

And I have NEVER said or implied that “autism is worse than death.” But–surprise!–Those two extremes aren’t actually the only two possibilities! There are even non-vaccinated children who have fully functioning immunological and neurological systems!

I know, right? You can be forgiven for not knowing they exist with all this “autism is worse than death” bullshit going around. 😉

      • Jon says:

True…I came across this years ago doing some research. It was bonkers then & still is. Guess I thought it would have died down by now. Evidence clearly shows autism forms in the womb. I posted that here years ago…somehow it dissapeared, hmmmmm.

Myself, I am 38 & on Social Security Disability due to 2 auto-immune disorders…one severe. I could blame vaccines, doctors, etc…truth of the matter is I just got dealt a shitty hand. Rather than spreading lies that could potentially hurt people, I choose to enjoy the time I have with my beautiful wife & son as much as possible. Others should try the same.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Did you know that many cases of “serious autoimmune disorders” have been triggered by the adjuvants in vaccines? I suspect not. Turns out vaccines have all sorts of “non-specific” effects on the immune system and the antigens are not checked for overlap with human proteins. Ever heard of molecular mimicry?

You, like so many others who are developing previously non-existent to rare autoimmune diseases, may have dealt yourself your own hand. Unlike you, my ex-husband doesn’t have any more time to enjoy his four children. HIS two autoimmune diseases killed him last year. Fortunately, for my kids I know the huge correlation between autoimmunity and vaccine injury, and my kids will be avoiding that particular fate.

      • Aliekatt says:

I haven’t posted on here in a while, but still love everything you have to say, Professor! Just curious what state you live in..unfortunately I’m in NY. My kids are 5 and 7, and vaccine free, and I hope and pray they stay vaccine free. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and support 😌

      • ProfessorTMR says:

I’m in New York as well. The last weeks have been excruciating, knowing that many friends are facing horribly difficult decisions in the coming weeks. Many children will be unnecessarily hurt just to boost some legislators’ egos, and I find that unconscionable.

I’m very lucky that I am in a position to home school my son. But long-term, who knows? My hope and prayer is that Robert F. Kennedy can get enough information to light soon enough that the whole house of cards collapse as it should. Merck is dancing as fast as it can, trying to destroy the evidence before the world figures out what they’ve done to it.

      • Aliekatt says:

Yes, amen to that! That rotten POS, Cuomo will get what’s coming to him sooner or later…Merck too. Do you use Instagram? Or just this blog. There are some amazing posts out there on vaccines. I just followed Children’s health defense. Thanks again!

      • ProfessorTMR says:

We’ve just really gotten our Instagram account going. It’s mostly manned by Princess. Let her know what you’d like to see.

      • Jon says:

Woman…you don’t know enough about me or my history to make such assumptions. That is the problem with you & this site. You are presenting yourself as a know it all professional with absolitely no regard for what damage your rhetoric could cause. It is irresponsible & unwarranted. My condolences for your husband, but his case doesn’t make mine the same. Like I said previously, you have become aggressive & down right hostile over the years. How do you think that reflects on your crusade? Not well I’m afraid. I am sorry for the issues you & your family have had to face, but projecting those issues onto others is not is not the answer nor will it help anyone. Best wishes to you & your family.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Excuse me, but I made no assumptions about you. If you’re going to bother commenting on our site, please get some reading comprehension skills. I merely TOLD you about a connection you apparently knew nothing about it and suggested it was quite possible that it was a connection in YOUR case as well. That assumes NOTHING.

You come to our site with your judgments (“irresponsible,” “unwarranted,” “dangerous,” “aggressive”) and expect no one to notice it when you bring up the fact that you are suffering from two conditions that are known to be linked with artificial stimulation of the immune system via injection of powerful immune-modulating drugs known as vaccines? Two conditions that apparently make you, like so many others, unable to make a living and support your family? How do you think that reflects on YOUR crusade? Not well, I’m afraid.

I don’t “present myself” as either a “know it all” or a “professional.” Again, reading comprehension would be in order. I present myself as exactly what I am, a smart, logical person with a science background who has read the science on vaccines and knows, despite its damning nature, that it is still woefully incomplete. I also present myself as someone who has had thousands of conversations with people who have experienced obvious vaccine injury firsthand, people who have completely recovered from it, and people who are performing scientific investigations in this area–and people like you who dismiss it all without the slightest bit of justification.

You can save your best wishes. It is obvious that they aren’t the slightest bit sincere. Whether you realize it or not, everyone here at TMR is working to make our world a much healthier place for our you as well as everyone else. It’s just too bad that you can’t see it.

      • Karen m. Chester-field says:

From my reading, all that was offered was the mention of the fact that a person was vaccinated, and was diagnosed with autism or something similar at a later date. no scientific evidence or a link was offered, just the idea that “A happened, and then B happened, so, therefore, A is the cause”

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Ooooooh, so you read ONE blog that *I* didn’t write (and not the comments) and used it to make assumptions about me? So you’re saying it’s not your reading comprehension that’s at fault so much as a general lack of intellectual rigor?

If you REALLY want to have healthy kids, stick around and read a lot blogs AND the comments. It will be eye-opening.

      • Jon says:

once again thank you for proving my point…HOSTILE & AGGRESSIVE. The number of people you’ve told to fuck off is deplorable. If that is how you want go be seen you’re doing a great job! Cray, cray!

      • ProfessorTMR says:

        Two, you mean?

So, let me get this straight, it’s NOT “deplorable” to make fun of gravely ill children (as this woman admitted she did when she indicated that she’s not even a parent), it’s just deplorable to tell the person who does to fuck off? It’s also perfectly okay to come to a site that is frequented by parents of truly sick children, call them names, and imply that they are the ones who are being “aggressive”?

And *I’m* the one who’s “cray, cray”?

I’m curious. Do you make the same judgments of black people who tell racists to fuck off when they come to comment at racial justice sites? Or how about women who tell rapists to fuck off when they comment at a site frequented by rape victims? Maybe you do. Maybe you are one of the people who are much more comfortable with injustice than the people who “aggressively” point it out, but if so you are anything but a good judge of character.

  3. Karen m. Chester-field says:

What essential oils would you recommend for my infant son who is deathly ill with whooping cough? I know I have made the right choice not vaccinating him, but I am worried about his health.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Aren’t sick kids just hilarious? They make the BEST jokes, don’t they?

No one whose child is “deathly ill with whooping cough” is reading (or in this case, trolling) blogs on autism, nor are they asking people who didn’t mention them about essential oils. Your child’s health may constitute “joke” territory for you, but for those who really have to deal with sick kids, there’s nothing the least bit funny about it.

Just going to come right out and say it: Fuck off.

      • Karen M. Chester-field says:

I won’t need to worry about my a future child’s health because I will get ‘em vaccinated. 💁‍♂️👍

      • ProfessorTMR says:

And we’ll be here to help even YOU when your child is injured by the vaccines.

  4. Kristina Harrison says:

My grandson got his 6 month shots 6 months ago and after getting this vaccination for the rest of the day he would roll his head to his shoulder every few minutes. We were very concerned but he stopped doing this by the end of the day. He is due for his next round of vaccines now and we are scared to death but have to get them. I have heard before about spreading them out can help protect them. Does anyone have any information on which ones we should get separately and how long of a period should we wait between them? Or any other helpful advice?

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Why does your grandson “have to get them”? I’m not trying to be snarky, just trying to get at the reason. Many people THINK they “have to get them,” but they don’t. Every state has medical exemptions, and all but three states have philosophical and/or religious exemptions if your grandson is going to daycare. Investigate your state’s exemptions.

Spreading them out does reduce the number of acute adverse reactions, but that doesn’t bring it to zero. For many children, all it takes is one. So before you do something you can’t undo, do as much research as you can. Doctors will try to bully you into vaccinating “on time,” but there is no evidence that doing so leads to healthy children. I would pick up a copy of The vaccine-Friendly Plan, a book by Dr. Paul Thomas (runs a HUGE pediatric practice in Portland, OR) and Jennifer Margulis. They do a very good job of discussing the pros and cons of each vaccine. Thomas recommends a highly abbreviated schedule (which, unfortunately, you cannot choose in some states with rigid exemption rules).

    • Jen says:

After much debate and research, I decided on a delayed schedule. One vaccine at a time at least 2 months apart with mmr no earlier than 24 months. By doing a delayed schedule you can actually eliminate the need for extra shots. For instance, I only did 3 dtap shots and waited until age four for the 4th and final shot because if the 4th is given at age 4 or later, the 5th shot is not required. You can also eliminate a hib and polio dose this way as well.

  5. Shayla says:

Stem cell research gives strategy to generate body cells, parts and
in many cases entire bodies. The Elevation Group – The Elevation Group,
recently launched (monthly subscription) aims to provide guidance plus a passageway
through the complexities with the financial jungle. This has the
power they are driving more visitors to your website and get visitors to see
    your products.

  6. Antonia says:

I am 28, since getting hep But and tetanus vaccines I have not been normal since. I got one at age 24, and then the other at 26. I feel very disconnected from reality and yes a lot of sensory overload 🙁 homeopathy has slowly been helping me. It’s been some very rough last few years. I almost droped out of school. I am the daughter of a doctor that does not question the safety of vaccines. For me to come to a point where I don’t believe vaccines are safe for everyone means i am truly desperate because my father drilled into our heads the importance of vaccines. I hope homeopathy will work for me. I believe the mother’s that say their sons autism was caused by vaccines, at 28, I feel like I regressed intellectually and socially.

  7. Bree says:

I agree with your stand on vaccines because my adult son deteriorated into asperger’s syndrome after receiving 3 flu shots in 3 years. It is a nightmare and there is no where to turn. He is an adult and suppose to be taking care of himself and couldn’t work for a year due to sever social impairments.

  8. Ariadna says:

Is there any way to counteract the effects?
My new born baby recieve 2 vaccines without my conscent, BCG, which unfortunately is unique dose and hepatitis B, which I’m a little optimistic cause it needs 2 more doses and she will NOT get them.

I’m so angry and worried about that, I myself have a functional autism.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

As far as autism is concerned, the BCG seems to have less of an effect than the Hep B. It does not raise interleukin-6 in the brain, which seems to be a common pathway to autism. There are lots of ways to counteract the negative effects of vaccines. You’ll have to experiment to see which are most effective for your family. Some of the most effective ones that people have found have been energy medicine approaches, such as homeopathy, and detox approaches such as low-dose chelation (known as “Andy Cutler chelation”) and IonCleanse footbaths. Other effective treatments include HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy), there’s a magnetic therapy that’s helping a lot of children, neurofeedback, “earthing.” The most effective therapies vary greatly with the individual. For an overview of therapies that may be helpful, I recommended Cutting Edge Therapies for Autism and Outsmarting Autism. Note that these therapies can be helpful to reverse any condition that can be associated with over-vaccination. It doesn’t have to be autism. They can be very helpful with sensory processing disorder, ADHD, OCD, etc., etc. Good luck!

  9. Jenny says:

Japan tests every vaccine for ENDOTOXINS. US doesn’t require this. Endotoxins are decaying bacteria. Contaminated vaccines often contain endotoxins because they obviously had bacteria in them that didn’t belong there. As a result the endotoxins are injected along with the virus and heavy metals. The body responds by protecting itself via inflammatory response, like it does with a sports injury. It does this because it cannot filter the endotoxins out fast enough. (liver over toxified) In an experiment sited by Tetyanna, (see previous post about her and her experience with measles) the male mice that were injected with endotoxins began to immediately show signs of the inability to problem solve and became less aware of other mice around them. All female mice that were pregnant ended up with early delivery of dead mice. Field mice that carried parasites that eat endotoxins had NO RESPONSE at all to the endotoxins being injected into the blood stream. A test was done on one child. She was injected with endotoxins, a super, super, super, super low amount. She immediately started showing signs of autism. The experiment was stopped immediately and they began to detox her. There are children who have autism that have never had a vaccine. People with lyme disease have so much inflammation from the endotoxins of the dead lyme bacteria. (Something I’ve had to learn about) I’m suggesting that pre existing health issues combined with the toxins of heavy metals and contaminated vaccines potentially cause so much inflammation that the body just can’t work the way it is suppose to. With chemicals inside vaccines that permit the ingredients to bypass right into the brain, the endotoxins mixed with heavy metals would have full access to it, causing inflammation that would stop normal functions. Children that go through detox, that have autism, show signs of improvement and sometimes complete healing. Dealing with endotoxins specifically, by helping all body filters and staying away from foods that add to the inflammation, I would think, would be helpful. Research Lyme induced Autism. (since anyone with lyme would already be fighting inflammation.) I have found a site about it. A number of families had their autistic children tested for lyme disease. 90% tested positive. Any lyme test must go through special testing. IGenX in California specifically tests for lyme. Local testing facilities or labs cannot localize the lyme bacteria and most lyme cases get misdiagnosed. I’m saying all this, because I think there is a connection for some people who have autism. Not all- but because of the endotoxins already existing from the lyme, which can be passed on to the children through the placenta, it is possible for the underlining issue to be made bigger by the injection of contaminated vaccines filled with heavy metals – which by the way, lyme stores until the immune system is doing well, then it releases the mercury to suppress the immune response. when it dies all the mercury is released into the body along with the endotoxins. And since lyme can go anywhere it wants, the mercury can be released at any location, including the brain. Just more info. May not apply to everyone. PS Japan has fewer autistic children since testing vaccine batches for endotoxins and pulling out all batches with the contamination found. So, at the very least, Governments could force pharma to raise it’s standards on testing for contamination. (there are no regulations in US concerning endotoxins in vaccines. pharma does test for them but no one knows how much they have determined is dangerous for the human body, and since no one is regulating it, there is no one to hold them accountable for the damage done to a child for violation of allowing contamination of vaccines – THIS IS PERHAPS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM THAT GOVERNMENTS ARE REFUSING TO LOOK AT) If you want to vaccinate, perhaps using Japanese vaccines would be the safer way to go. Just a thought for those who do not believe that a good healthy immune system created by “mother nature” isn’t enough to fight of viruses and bacteria. I for one am grateful to the parents and professionals speaking out concerning the issues with vaccines. A person with lyme, for example, would never have known to stay away from them. Since my life would be personally effected by it, as would that of a very loved family member, I’m grateful someone put the question in my mind, so I could make a decision with two sides of the story, rather than the one side.

You are so right about this my daughter was fine talking walking reading books saying sentences until she got her 6 month injection! ! I hate the system!
Why do this to poor kids that are helpless .. looking after children an raising them is hard enough. . An injection our poor babys an giving them to bloody sickness is right down disgusting who ever dose these needles an are apart of doing this should be ashamed of themselfs! Living with a child with autism is hard! Plus i have two more child all my attention is on my autistic child .. if they only new our daily life an how we struggle to get through everyday . I hope the Australian government go to hell the whole lot of you an the people who are getting on here an dont belive it i can show u videos photos of her doing all this then the night of her needles of her sick stop talking went backward shame on you people for falling for what they are doing .
In the end you will see the truth an what they are doing to our kids how many more parents need to go through this until someone stops this government from continuing to do this!
We cant stop it all we can do is to live with what damage they have now made us suffer with an everyday we will be reminded of how bad our government is how they can do this to their own people !
Is disgusting they are criminals they should be behind bars in jail for the crimes they have committed all over Australia what so they can get paid! Grrr how the hel do th wry sleep at night! Glad they can go home to there perfect children an sleep at night .
What a disgrace the Australian government! Shame on you! I wish to be there the day you stand before god an answer to him why u did these crimes id love to hear your answer! So angary after seeing this article can u please email me

Your daughter was walking, talking snd reading books at 6 mos?!? I work with babies and have had 2 kids myself, and I greatly disbelieve those claims!

  11. Greg says:

Mate this is funny this professor dude reckons he’s the shit. Is it just me or this professor guy has autism him self.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

I have some questions for you: What makes you assume that someone whose screen name has “Professor” in it on a website named Thinking MOMS’ Revolution is a “dude”? And what in my comments could possibly lead you to think that I have autism? And why would you say that in such a way that having autism sounds like an insult?

In any event, your intuition skills are in need of a serious tune-up because I am in fact a woman (mother, shockingly enough), and the closest thing I have to an autistic trait is a slight sound hypersensitivity. In fact, as I was growing up, despite being very interested in the topic of autism, I didn’t know anyone with it until I was well into adulthood. Looking back, there may have been two people I knew who would have been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, but that’s it. Now it’s everywhere.

  12. Jenny says:

Tetyann Obukhany is an Immunologist that was completely vaccinated as a child. She later contracted both whooping cough and measles. From her perspective as an immunologist, it created an inconstancy in what we are always told about vaccines. http://www.tetyanaobukhanych.com/articles.

    • Roslyn Stark-Lambert says:

I contracted whooping cough as an adult, also pregnant at the time. My doctor refused to test me for whooping cough because he said “It’s so rare and you had the vaccine”. However I was a nurse who worked with elderly patients at the time in a Long term care facility. After 3 visits I insisted I be tested because I had all the symptoms. Sure enough it was whooping cough. As a nurse I had been trained to always advocate to “push vaccines” I now decline the flu vaccine for myself and my family. I had an adverse reaction to the H1N1 vaccine in 2009 , what I thought was “severe fatigue, prolonged myalgias and weakness soon after was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have never recovered.

Hi..it sounds like you may need a heavy metal detox…look up Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt out of Seattle. Just heard him on the heavy metals summit.

  13. asdf says:

Even if (hypothetically) vaccines do cause autism in some cases, vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and measles save between 2-3 million lives per year (WHO). We are also not considering that the criteria for autism is expanding. Doctors and scientists have been steadily expanding the genera/spectrum for autism. Meaning, what was once not considered autistic, may now be considered autistic. Vaccines aren’t made for everyone, certain types should not be administered to people with immune deficiencies, children under a certain age, or seniors past a certain age. If administered improperly it could have side effects, but generally if done right, vaccines are perfectly safe and beneficial.

    • Jane says:

We were very pro-vaccine when we vaccinated our sons. Then they were severely hurt by them and now we refuse to hurt them and any of our other children with further vaccinations.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Who says “we are also not considering that the criteria for autism is expanding”??? As far as I can tell, EVERYONE is “considering” it ad infinitum, to the point where well-done studies that indicate that approximately 80% of the rise in autism prevalence is real are ignored (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4177682/). YOU may not be “considering” it (though it sounds like you are giving it far more weight than it deserves), but no one here has missed that fact or its implications.

You and the WHO are making a tremendous number of assumptions with that “lives saved” number. According to a recent Scandinavian study (http://www.ebiomedicine.com/article/S2352-3964(17)30046-4/fulltext) that appears to be the only one that has assessed the REAL impact of the introduction of DTP vaccines to West Africa, “It should be of concern that the effect of routine vaccinations on all-cause mortality was not tested in randomized trials. All currently available evidence suggests that DTP vaccine may kill more children from other causes than it saves from diphtheria, tetanus or pertussis. Though a vaccine protects children against the target disease it may simultaneously increase susceptibility to unrelated infections.” This particular study found that death rates were on average five times higher in children who were vaccinated early vs. children who were vaccinated later, despite the fact that the unvaccinated group was likely to be at least slightly less healthy than the vaccinated group to begin with. In any event, we know that in developed countries vaccines cannot and do not have anywhere near that sort of beneficial effect as the death rates from infectious disease were already so low.

The vast majority of adverse vaccine reactions occur when vaccines are used “appropriately” according to CDC recommendations. Thus, your bland blanket assertions as to vaccines’ general safety and beneficence will provide little reassurance to parents who are doing their homework. The risk of autism is far more than “hypothetical” as approximately 40% of the families who were reached by investigators researching National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program cases of brain injury that were compensated told the investigators that their children had autism. The investigators only managed to find about 200 of the over 1300 families, but if their 40% number continued to hold true, that would mean that more than 500 cases of autism that was caused by vaccine injury were compensated before the train wreck that was the
      Omnibus Autism Proceeding.

      • Chris says:

I’m going to ask an honest question Professor. what do you propose we do? Not vaccinate people and children period? I’m being serious I want to know. Is there a viable alternative to stop all vaccinations. Please don’t begin with “I don’t propose we end all vaccinations.”

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Given your previous comments, I don’t for an instant believe there’s anything “honest” about your question. That is also evidenced by your telling me what NOT to say. I have never proposed, and probably will never propose, that we end all vaccinations. My views are clear in virtually everything I write. Where there is a risk, and the risks to vaccines are far greater than those that are willingly acknowledged (“1 in a million”), there MUST be choice, choice with regard to EACH and EVERY vaccine for EACH and EVERY person.

        Bye, Chris.

      • keira says:

Yes i will speak my mind i suppose we stop it all together how many people got sick in the olden days! Not many how many had autsim hardly none! How many needles did they get none! Now we get our kids the needles its suppose to stop us from getting all these sickness but its actually the opposite we are sick we get everything that is put in those needles i didnt see people back in the olden days get any of this or hardly ever get sick! I say screw the needles .
Kids that haven’t got their needles are healthy then the ones that have had all of theirs! Its just a proven point that the needles are no good for any of us humans! Its just an excuse to make us very sick!
An we are all sitting back allowing them to do it to more of our Australian children which is unfair!! On the children . N parents

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Before the advent of modern plumbing and sanitation, cities were unhealthy places to live. Quite a few people got sick enough to die. That’s understandable given that they were living in close proximity with each other and livestock and the streets were filled with horse muck. Back in the 60s, few people were struck down by infectious illness and most people enjoyed robust health despite leaded gas, a decade of rampant DDT spraying, and mothers who smoked and drank during pregnancy. At the time in the U.S., we already had smallpox, DPT, and polio vaccines and were working toward measles, mumps, and rubella. Today we do not see much in the way of smallpox, diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, and rubella (though that one is difficult to know because it’s so mild many people don’t even notice it). So it is a stretch to say that people “weren’t sick” before vaccines or that vaccines give people “everything in those needles.” Does that mean that today’s children who are vaccinated are healthier than those who are not. Not by a long shot. All the “anecdotal” evidence, as well as the scientific data that is trickling in indicates the opposite. The children least likely to be plagued with today’s chronic illnesses are those whose immune systems have NOT been tampered with by vaccines.

      • Caitlyn says:

Tonight is another night I lay awake… completely heart broken. Chris… for a minute please consider that the people you are arguing with are people. People who are extremely hurt in a way that you will never understand until it happens to you. In a way, I am completely jealous of you. I wish I could be you because you have not experienced the amount of pain that I have. Not only sadness but regret, self hatred bc I was naive. I wish I could go back and be like you bc I was once you. Before all this I had no reason to be otherwise. The reason we go up against people who like you are pro vaccine is bc we are trying to help. We don’t wish what we experienced upon our worst enemy. I’m happy for you bc you are able to live without the pain autism has caused my beautiful son and everyone that loves him. I can give you fact, talk to you about the endless research, science and nutrition (none of which had even interested me ever…that is until something horrible happened to the person I love the most). But please, I am already hurting, my son hurts most of all and all I can blame is the decisions I made for him by vaccinating him. I watched him disappear before my eyes. The worst part of all of this is being kicked when we are already so far down. Imagine your child sick and every doctor saying that they cannot help you and will not help you despite the countless labs that prove that there are experiencing heavy metal toxicity, mitochondrial dysfunction, severe vitamin deficiency along with being over methylated. Please be kind, you have nothing to be angry about. You don’t have to agree but just for a second realize that we are bravely facing harsh words and criticism just so that a person like you won’t have the ever feel like a person like me.

    • Jenny says:

If vaccines cause autism and 1 out of 68 kids are diagnosed, wouldn’t that be a good enough reason to say that vaccines are not safe? If the number of autistic children is still climbing and vaccines are causing it because people are not able to detox the metals, doesn’t that make asking the question worthy of true evaluation of a product we are encouraged to use throughout our lives? If a shampoo was suspected of causing hair loss and enough people stood up and spoke out about what they observed, wouldn’t that, or shouldn’t that , be enough to cause an investigation? And should the investigation be done by someone NOT working in the company, and someone that doesn’t receive financial gain from the sale of the product, nor should they receive money for the discontinuation of the product. Observation is part of the scientific method, therefore a parents observation about changes in their child after a vaccine are technically scientific observations, not emotional, worthy are of acknowledging and taken seriously. If people are being harmed by vaccines, how can they be considered safe, especially if we don’t know who tolerates them and who doesn’t until after the fact. It becomes Russian Rulette. That isn’t fair to the children. It isn’t fair to parents to be told they are safe and not told the risks of using vaccines, but only that they are safe and effective. Being told they are safe and not being given the list of risks on the warning labels is marketing. No parent should be forced or encouraged to vaccinate or use any other product without knowing the risks that the product is KNOWN to potentially cause. No elderly person should be told a flu shot is good and never get a copy of the warning label. The lack of informed consent is marketing. Doctors that do no offer the warning label are trying to detract from the protential risks in order to “make a sale” in order to keep their good standing status with insurance companies and often to get a little kick back for every 6 vaccines they inject.(about $100 for every six vaccines administered to one child in one visit)(insurance companies are pro vaccine. Doctors that do not stay with CDC schedules are in danger of losing their “good Doctor” status and coverage. This causes people to go to other doctors to get a better reduction of price, causing the “bad doctor”, that doesn’t stay on CDC schedule for the benefit of the patient, to close their doors. So, pediatricians will fire patients that do not vaccinate so they can keep their good doctor standing with insurance companies. The only keep patients that will vaccinate at the recommended time, even if they know the child is being harmed by the vaccine. The conflict of interest for a doctor doesn’t make vaccines safe. It puts a huge question mark on them.

  14. Jane says:

Our very reputable doctor has concluded that vaccines cause autism.

  15. Miles_Bey0nd says:

um, you DO realize that you can get a vaccine before being DIAGNOSED?

meaning you can have autism, and later in your life have autism. if i ate mc donalds before getting checked for autism, do i have autism? no! maybe an std from pubic hair, but not autism.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Of course she “realizes” that, as would anyone with even the slightest understanding of logic. *eye roll* What you obviously fail to understand is that there are many reasons she believes that vaccines caused her son’s autism, not least of which is that, having been treated for vaccine injury, he is now all but recovered from autism.

Comments very similar to yours abound. Bizarrely, many people who don’t have children who were injured by vaccines assume all people who do are incredibly stupid. We’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you have been suckered by mainstream media portrayals of “anti-science anti-vaxxers,” but the mere fact that you appear to believe that BS means that you come across as more than a little gullible.

    • Chris says:

Your wasting your breath here. Most of the people posting on this forum are devout antivaxers because they either have autistic children and relatives or carry the banner because they have bought onto the cause hook line and sinker, an absolute falsehood that vacinnation and autism are directly correlated.

None of them can back it up with a single shred of proven SCIENTIFIC evidence except but continue to spout wives tails that have been swirling since Wakefield’s phony baloney study, in which he published a fraudulent study on autism with the intention of suing major pharmaceutical companies after publishing. He was later convicted of fraud and disbarred by the British General Medical Council.

In 2016 we saw 10 year highs in reported cases of measles, whooping cough, mumps and rubella. There was also an outbreak of EV-D68 in several western US states, a variant of the polio virus once thought eradicated from the USA .
It is now being reintroduced by illegal immigrants and their children where it it is common in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc..

Tuberculosis, Scarlet Fever, Bubonic Plague, etc. are all making a remarkable comeback because people aren’t vaccinating or following the full course of treatment with anti-biotics and anti-virals leading to the creation of “super bugs.”

Don’t worry though. Their children will get sick and possibly die while yours will live because you were smart and vaccinated your kids. I do not pity these fools because they are fly by nighters who arrogantly think they know better than a real doctor meanwhile pumping their children full of toxic noxious herbs and forbes like some kind of Jamaican voodoo doctor.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

So, Chris, when you come and comment here at TMR, do you REALLY think you can post a whole lot of BS and not get called on it? ‘Cause this here comment is more BS per square centimeter than I usually see.

First: Scientific evidence ABOUNDS and is freely quoted and posted on this website (though we generally hesitate to use the word “proof” — as most scientists do — because we set the bar very high, we actually have gotten to the point where it can be said to have been “proved” that vaccines can and do cause at least some autism). This series puts together a mechanism whereby either maternal or infant/toddler immune activation (which can be caused by vaccination, especially with aluminum-adjuvanted vaccines) causes spikes of IL-6 in the brains of some individuals, which results in the development of autism:

        https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/scientific-proof-vaccines-cause-autism/.
This is a list of130 peer-reviewed research papers that support the vaccine-autism connection:
        https://www.scribd.com/doc/220807175/130-Research-Papers-Supporting-the-Vaccine-Autism-Link.
And Dr. James Lyons-Weiler summarizes thousands of papers on the science of autism in his book The Environmental and Genetic Causes of Autism:
        https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/environmental-genetic-causes-autism-dazzling-scientific-achievement/.
        And that’s just for starters.

Second: No one is basing their decisions about vaccination on Wakefield and his twelve co-authors’ 1998 paper on 12 children with autism or almost-autism:
        https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/andrew-wakefield-and-jenny-mccarthy-made-me-do-it-is-a-big-fat-lie/

And your basic facts are just plain wrong. Wakefield had no intention of suing pharmaceutical companies. He was “convicted” of NOTHING, and doctors cannot be “disbarred”; that’s for lawyers. The British General Medical Council “struck him off,” just as it did his colleague Dr. John Walker-Smith with essentially the same charges. Walker-Smith was later reinstated by an appeal proceeding where the judge was clearly disgusted with the poor quality of the case against them. I don’t blame him. It was more than a little ridiculous.

Thirdly: “In 2016 we saw 10 year highs in reported cases of measles, whooping cough, mumps and rubella.” THIS IS A VERIFIABLE CROCK OF SHIT. I know people make shit up when their come here all the time, but this? Absolute pants on fire. There were 70 cases of measles in 2016, which puts 2016 much closer to a 10-year LOW case count than HIGH case count:
        https://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html.

Whooping cough (pertussis) has been rising, mostly due to the fact that the acellular vaccine doesn’t prevent infection, just symptoms. So there are vaccinated individuals walking around with contagious infections that don’t even know it. Though it seems that pertussis numbers aren’t available for last year, it seems unlikely that it will be even close to a 10-year high case count:
        https://www.cdc.gov/pertussis/surv-reporting.html.

EV-D68 is one of many enteroviruses that are usually mild in nature (just as polio was before the 20th century), and there is no vaccine for it, but again, let’s blame it on unvaccinated kids. *eye roll*

The ONE disease where case counts ARE hitting record highs is mumps. Yep, there were a lot of cases of mumps last year, driven mostly by outbreaks in nearly fully vaccinated adult populations like college campuses. And, by all means, let’s blame THOSE cases on unvaccinated children and not on a vaccine that isn’t nearly as effective as advertised and wears off over time, as alleged by two of Merck’s OWN whistleblowing virologists:
http://ahrp.org/former-merck-scientists-sue-merck-alleging-mmr-vaccine-efficacy-fraud/ *eyes getting really tired of rolling now*

Fourthly: And now we’re blaming bacterial diseases (tuberculosis, scarlet fever, bubonic plague) for which there is no vaccine or for which WE do not vaccinate on people who don’t vaccinate, rather than the doctors who are prescribing them for viral illnesses and every ear infection. I’m assuming you don’t realize that most of our readers understand antibiotic resistance thoroughly and try EXTREMELY hard to avoid taking them because they know the havoc they wreak on the microbiome.

And last, but most certainly not least, the kids we’re not vaccinating are not only NOT getting sick and dying, they are on average MUCH healthier than their fully vaccinated siblings and classmates. Don’t waste your pity, and don’t waste your energy typing any more comments if you’re just going to continue to make shit up.

      • Chris says:

BULLSHIT AND I CALL IT PROFESSOR. People that aren’t vaccinating their children are seeing heightened cases of measles, etc. among st their kids they are just in denial about it and you know it. Don’t throw rocks if you live in glass house fool.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Thanks, Chris, for making it ultra-mega clear that you aren’t the least bit interested in science or facts. You clearly prefer making shit up about people who ARE interested in science and facts. For your information, I don’t know ANYONE with children under 30 who had measles that wasn’t directly caused by the vaccine as in this Baltimore case: http://www.inquisitr.com/1801210/genotype-baltimore-mmr/. I find it fascinating that you seem to think there is some sort of conspiratorial epidemic of this purportedly “deadly” disease that no one is counting or talking about. Somehow, at the same time, it’s dangerous enough that we MUST MAKE CERTAIN EVERYONE IS VACCINATED EVERY 10 YEARS(!), yet it’s so mild that there are zillions of cases where no one is seeking medical attention.

We won’t be posting any more of your comments.

      • Gina says:

Wow. ProfessorTMR, you have the patience of a saint. I am one of those with a healthy 26 year old son and still read articles about the vaccine/autism link. There’s so much bad information it’s hard to distinguish what’s true and what’s false. However, time and again you substantiated your claims with documented facts, studies and even the links to support it all. This jackass, Chris, never even attempted to cite a single source; yet continued to hurl his ignorant, unsubstantiated claims while spewing vitriolic disdain. Just wow.

  18. Robert Jerome McQueen, MD says:

    RJM Autism 2017

I am a Family Physician MD graduated from OSU, OHSU, and KMC who retired in November of 2015 after 35 years of continuous front line Medicine that involved approximately 70 different clinical situations, including nearly every aspect of Family Medicine that it is possible to have practiced. During that time I do not believe that I have ever caused a single patient mistreatment and have never had even the threat of a Medical Malpractice lawsuit. As such I have followed thousands of families through early childhood development including vaccination. I have noted an important and startling anomaly regarding Autism and vaccination. Despite communicating this to many people and organizations, I have found no one with any seeming interest, suspicious that is it may be that such conversation may be considered politically incorrect. I am a very strong proponent of vaccination against serious preventable illness, yet believe that many of the vaccines currently approved have no place in routine vaccination and should not be given.

After observing and participating in vaccinations in Medical School and Residency I was appalled at how violent and uncomfortable the process was for parents and especially male children when the length of the visit was prolonged, often requiring numerous staff members to hold the child down and keep the parents at bay. As a result I resolved to give only the minimum required, and in the case of Catch Up vaccination, to space the vaccinations out over serial 2 month periods until the child was up to date, never giving more than the usual number, fearing that to do otherwise might result in a baby/parent PTSD syndrome which would result, in many cases, in the avoidance of vaccination and thus serious Vaccine Preventable Illness. I am unaware of any VPI in any of my patients, nor have I ever caused a single day of missed school.

When I first heard the word Autism I thought that maybe it had been made up by one of the Drug Companies in an effort to sell a different variety of amphetamine for ADD, or something like that, after all, I had never seen such a patient, and have never had a patient diagnosed as Autistic that I had vaccinated. Whenever I picked up a serious developmental or behavioral problem my first step was to refer to OHSU or Emmanuel for a multi specialty evaluation in order to establish a precise diagnosis and begin immediate intervention, and not one has ever been diagnosed with Autism.

When taking a History and performing a Physical Examination on a patient with Autism, either there was no established link to the etiology, or I heard the same story repeated to me scores of times – The child was brought in for Catch Up vaccination and 2 days later there was a low grade fever, followed by a personality change that led to the diagnosis of Autism! I about jumped through the monitor when I saw the second Republican debate sponsored by CNN when Jake Tapper asked the candidates questions relating vaccination and Autism, doubtless an attempt to trap one or more of them into saying something that would seem outlandish – Ben Carson, MD, retired Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Donald Trump, and Rand Paul, MD, Ophthalmologist, all basically agreed that there might be an important relationship, and Trump gave accounts of friends of his who had had the identical history that I had noted in my patients!

In conclusion, I believe for now that genetic predisposition toward Autism may be triggered by numerous factors, the most modifiable at this time being something I refer to as ‘hypervaccination’, or giving more than the usual number of vaccines in a single day. I would like help from others with a similar interest in a number of areas – 1) Is there any study showing that hypervaccination is safe? – 2) I have written to President Trump asking him to consider a ban on hypervaccination – Would anyone else be willing to write him? – 3) In order to avoid a hysterical anti-vaccine reaction to such action, are there any ideas having to do with promoting vaccination with the important vaccines at the same time as such a ban is introduced? Doing nothing is clearly unacceptable, as daily the ranks of those afflicted grow in a nearly exponential fashion, and, for instance, one article I have read indicates an Institutionalization rate of greater than 10% is likely in the more severe forms of Autism, which should soon dwarf the numbers experienced during the Eugenics movement, which, thankfully, is finally near its’ end.

    Sincerely,

    Robert Jerome McQueen, MD

    • Charlene says:

Thank you for the thoughtful response.

Which vaccine would you recommend is absolutely necessary for a 5 yr old child who has not been vaccinated yet?

  19. Richard says:

This article on Rootclaim finds that any autism connection to vaccines is nearly beyond the realm of possibility: https://www.rootclaim.com/claims/does-the-mmr-measles-mumps-and-rubella-vaccine-cause-autism-4925

Do they address all of the points made here? Why the discrepancy?

    • ProfessorTMR says:

The first problem with the article is that it addresses only the MMR vaccine. Today’s vaccine schedule contains a ridiculous number of doses before the age of 2 (don’t feeling like adding them up right now, but you can do it yourself; it’s well over 30: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/downloads/parent-ver-sch-0-6yrs.pdf). MMR accounts for only three doses of that total. MMR was given in the 1970s and it wasn’t causing huge numbers of autism cases then. No one believes MMR is doing it all by itself, but in combination with other environmental insults that cause immune activation and raise IL-6 levels in the brain, such as the remaining 30-something doses of vaccine many of them containing aluminum adjuvants that cause a hose of problems, it is certainly contributing.

That’s your first clue that they’re not interested in the actual truth.

Your next clue is that it leaves out a lot of information about the MMR itself, like the fact that a CDC epidemiologist William Thompson, a.k.a the “CDC whistleblower”) who did the number crunching on a 2004 study on the timing of the MMR and autism called Dr. Brian Hooker and told him that the authors deliberately deviated from the pre-determined research plan because they got results they didn’t like, namely that autism was 3.4 times more common in black boys who had gotten the MMR ON TIME than black boys who didn’t. And that “isolated autism” (a term made up to cover autism that is more commonly referred to as regressive autism) was 7 times more common in children who had received the MMR on time than children who hadn’t. Not only did they not PUBLISH those results, they literally threw them away (all except for Thompson who saved a copy and told Hooker how to obtain it through a FOIA request). That is research fraud.

In addition, several of the other MMR studies pointed to as “proof” that “vaccines don’t cause autism” (and I already mentioned why an MMR study can’t determine that) were conducted by Poul Thorsen, a Danish researcher who is currently literally WANTED for fraud. And yet, the CDC has not ordered ANY sort of review of the science he conducted (and suggested in the first place). That’s an interesting fact, don’t you think?

Not only is an autism connection to vaccines NOT beyond the realm of possibility, it is beyond the realm of possibility that there is no connection. Please read through some of the other articles on this site. There is a great deal of information to get you started on a more complete understanding of autism and its genesis. If you’re up for REALLY technical work, read James Lyons-Weiler’s new book The Environmental and Genetic Causes of Autism. He approaches the mountains of evidence with a REAL researcher’s eye, looking for the patterns and the commonalities between the many threads. It’s not an easy read, but it makes it clear that the sort of reductionistic twaddle peddled in that article is just that and not even remotely a serious attempt to get at the truth. You can put it together yourself, like we’ve been doing all these years, or let Lyons-Weiler lead you through it.

      • Richard says:

Hi Professor, this sounds good in theory, but there were apparently many such studies, and Dr. Wakefield sounds fairly discredited.

Did you raise these issues on the site itself? Would love to see how they respond to you.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Richard, I love it when people like you come to the site because you have a bias coming in (we all do), but you are willing to engage and learn something along the way, and that is terrific! (So thanks. 🙂 )

Now, the “many” such studies that they cite are all epidemiological (which make it easy to manipulate statistics to hide a somewhat “rare” effect like autism), and most of them involve either the CDC team which has already been implicated in fraud or Poul Thorsen who is actually WANTED for fraud. But beyond that if you actually READ the studies, you can see the holes. Frequently, an assumption is made that invalidates the conclusions, like the assumption that it’s the MMR alone that is causing the autism epidemic when it is fairly obvious that that is NOT the case. If vaccines are implicated, it is most certainly a synergistic effect with cumulative risk. Everyone in the so-called “anti-vax” community knows this, so how is it that no one at the CDC does? Are they really that stupid? Not hardly.

And it’s interesting that you say that about Wakefield. Personally, Wakefield didn’t play into my opinions about vaccines. And certainly a case series about 12 children and ONE vaccine (that its lead author recommended people split up into its component parts) that did not conclude anything much less “vaccines cause autism” is not the reason why anyone stops vaccinating completely. I even wrote a blog called “‘Andrew Wakefield and Jenny McCarthy Made Me Do It’ Is a Big Fat Lie.” At first, I thought it would be better for all concerned if he just went away because there was so much smoke there had to be fire, right? Well, I finally did my own research on the subject, which included reading all the stuff they said about him and the General Medical Council’s proceeding against him. When I read it, I realized that most of the case was based on the illegal obtaining of private health records that deviated slightly from what the parents reported to the researchers. I don’t know about you, but as a parent of kids who are at least slightly medically complex, I can guarantee you that MY children’s official records would deviate from what I say about their health history, in part because their doctors tended to dismiss everything I said. I have no doubt that those parents had similar issues with their doctors. The other main contention was that the children were treated unnecessarily by the clinicians at the hospital. These were the foremost pediatric gastroenterologists in the country, and in a later proceeding Dr. John Walker-Smith, the leading clinician, was completely exonerated. I also came across a video of one of the parents reading a letter on behalf of Wakefield and the clinicians at the Royal Free Hospital. Not only did they NOT accuse them of “Callous Disregard,” they were quite grateful for the care their children were finally able to obtain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHrgYxqcU0w&t=30s I finally came to the conclusion that it was all part of a giant smear PR campaign because they thought that if they “discredited” him, the argument would go away. Instead of helping these children or PREVENTING such illness, they chose to attack the person who brought attention to it. I don’t know about you, but I was struck by the cynicism in that. But the argument was never about him in the first place, so of course it hasn’t gone away.

I don’t bother engaging with the so-called “science bloggers” anymore. I discovered a long time ago that when people simplify complex subjects like this in order to shame others, they aren’t interested in a real discussion. They are not worth my time.

Edited to add: Wow. It looks like they have removed the video of the “Lancet 12” parents from YouTube. It was removed in at least two places after having been there for years. I don’t know about you, but it’s making me wonder… I know someone working on a video about Wakefield. I’m going to see if they have that video somewhere.

  20. Shireesha says:

Thanks for sharing your experience happened in your family. Don’t wait, find out how vaccines work and which ones are recommended for your child. Get detailed information about immunizations and the diseases they prevent.

  21. happy mother of three boys with autism says:

When your own children have been so seriously affected by vaccines, you don’t care, in a sense, what other people think, because you as a parent are not going on assumptions, you just KNOW. My husband and I have three sons, the first two have pretty severe autism, the third does not. The third son did not receive any vaccines at all, because by then, we just knew we could not harm him. He talks, he reads, he does all self-help skills. What I am trying to say is, please, pLeAsE, PLEASE do not cause more pain and more harm and more anxiety and more stress and more heartbreak to parents who truly know that vaccines caused their child’s autism, if you have never experienced it yourself in your own children. That’s like saying to an allergy sufferer,
“No, pollen doesn’t cause allergies; I don’t have allergies, therefore pollen doesn’t cause allergies. ” Everyone has a predisposition to something. We don’t say, “Oh, he suffers from allergies because of genetics.” The pollen causes the allergies! Every person on this planet has a predisposition towards something, cancer, arthritis, etc., because of genetics. So let’s get beyond genetics and find out the true cause beyond that. And please do not cause the parents who KNOW more suffering by saying that vaccines do not cause autism.

    • Superfly says:

I’m confused, your title states you have three boys with autism but your comment indicates two are severe but can’t tell if your third son is mildly autistic or not autistic. Can you clarify? Thanks!

      • happy mother of three boys with autism says:

He’s a bit quirky. We have not had him diagnosed. I would imagine he probably has a few minor delays, but don’t we all?!

It happened to me my older one got mmr shot and started to have seizures 15 min after i gave medication to stop fever before shot and he started to have them i took him to the doctor right away they acted like he fell which was bullshit he had a consfused look in his eyes after that shot i lost him for years he was never the same he lost everything he had know and they keep telling me it was not the shot right my next son was normal everything was normal until that mmr shot and he never acted the same again his eyes were empty and he looked confused he layed there i had to guess when he was hungry and needed a diaper change everything he learned was lost he was not the same i know itsthe shot believe it they should do test on this before they test humans its not right to destroy children with it we should have a choice to avoid this shot i know what it does i have been with my children since day one i seen the huge change the lose the confused look and them go back in age i seen it right in front of me

      • Chris says:

        I call BS!

      • ProfessorTMR says:

BS? Would that it were. It’s virtually identical to the stories that thousands of other parents tell about their children’s vaccine injuries, over 1300 of which have been compensated by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. When investigators managed to locate approximately 200 of those families, they were told by 40% of the parents that their children had “autism” diagnoses. If you’re still having trouble believing it, I suggest you go to the “Hear This Well” YouTube channel and watch some of the many videos that describe situations that were eerily similar: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFCrfK5rP_B6huriP1hLApw

  22. Mammie Krupp says:

Great Article. writing , I was enlightened by the points . Does anyone know where my business could possibly get ahold of a blank MO DWC WC-G-11 example to complete ?

  23. Chris says:

So what’s your solution professor? Nobody gets vaccinated and we go back to living the way things were centuries ago? I’d like to know because the more people you scare into not having there children vacinaated the more succeptible to outbreaks they become. The herd immunity as you so charterize will virtually disappear and everyone will start getting sick again and dieing in some cases because of your crack pot theories.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

My “solution”? My solution is for EVERYONE to take responsibility for their own health and that of their children, to take the decision-making process seriously enough to do due diligence and get as accurate information as possible on risks vs. benefits of EVERY SINGLE VACCINE they consider getting and to understand how easy it is to overload a body’s ability to detoxify and to become sensitized to ingredients in vaccines. There are ways to make adverse reactions less likely IF you feel a need for a particular vaccine, but you aren’t going to get that from mainstream medicine because that would be tantamount to admitting that their precious products are not as “safe” as advertised.

You’re still completely missing the point when you talk of “scaring” someone “into not having there (sic) children vaccinated.” Someone who has done a risk to benefit analysis of a particular vaccine and decided to forgo it knows that not being vaccinated will raise their susceptibility to a particular disease in an outbreak, and that is a risk they have decided to take. Yes, my children were susceptible to chickenpox and both got it.

The herd immunity I so characterize? What are you talking about? I seldom discuss herd immunity at all. I think it’s a bad idea to rely on herd immunity to keep you well. Herd immunity can fail at any moment as mumps outbreaks in highly vaccinated populations like Harvard University where there is an outbreak in progress affecting 42 people so far, all of them vaccinated. The same can and will happen with measles as we saw in the Disneyland outbreak. But all that is pretty much beside the point. You’re assuming that an acute case of measles or chickenpox is automatically bad, when there is some evidence (rarely quantified unfortunately) that many people make health and cognition gains after an acute viral illness like measles or chickenpox. My own son used to get sick quite often before his bout with chickenpox. The year after he got a perfect attendance award. I was shocked to realize that he had not been sick all year. There is evidence that the immune system workout provided by an acute challenge can provide some protection against much bigger invasive illness such as cancer. (Previous mumps infection is supposed to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, one of the most deadly forms.) I DO talk about the likelihood of encountering a particular disease, but that may or may not have anything to do with herd immunity. Tetanus is not contagious. My likelihood of encountering it has nothing to do with whether or not you choose to vaccinate. If acute illnesses DO become more prevalent because fewer people vaccinate for them, then that is something that people will have to factor into their decisions about whether or not to vaccinate.

If YOU are afraid of the diseases that vaccines are intended to prevent and wish to “protect” yourself and your loved ones by vaccinating, that should be up to you. But others whose families have survived viral illnesses for generations with no ill effects may be more likely to be harmed by a vaccine than a viral illness and should have the right to refuse them.

You might want to check the stats on the “horrible diseases” you discuss. Even polio was a relatively benign illness in almost all cases until the early 1900s; 95% of all polio infections were so mild as to go unnoticed. Only a small percentage invaded the central nervous system at all. Perhaps it would be a good idea to focus some attention on WHY that happened suddenly in the early 20th century. The death rate for measles had dropped so dramatically by the time the first vaccine was invented that only about 450 of the 3-4,000,000 people who got it a year died from it. That’s less than the number of kids who drown in swimming pools or car accidents, but we still go swimming and drive cars. In addition, there is no reason to believe that the death rate would not have continued to drop. Measles was, in fact, so benign for the vast majority of the population that it was joked about in situation comedies like The Donna Reed Show, The Flintstones, and The Brady Bunch. That would not be happening if the general public were afraid of catching measles because they deemed it “deadly.” There were no jokes about people getting cancer on television in those days. Cancer was always spoken about in hushed tones of horror.

You keep trying to paint “to vaccinate” or “not to vaccinate” as some black and white choice with automatic death on one side. If that were the case, the human race simply would not have survived this long. The truth is that there are a thousand and one nuances that affect people differently depending upon their own health histories and tendencies, and NOT vaccinating for any particular disease may indeed be a far healthier choice for many people.

      • kelly says:

This bullshit is easy to disprove. Over 80% of parents still do vaccinate, yet autism only appears in about 1 out of 160 children.. well less than 1%. What actually happens: if children have mild autism, parents often don’t fully see the problem until about age 3; kids get a group of vaccines around the same time. So parents see their seemingly healthy get get vaccinated and then seem to suddenly develop autism.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

And millions of people smoke, but only a small percentage ever get lung cancer. I guess those people just missed the signs of lung cancer before they started smoking.

To assume that parents who watched their healthy, walking, talking kids descend into severe autism are idiots is just as stupid as assuming that people with lung cancer are idiots who “just didn’t notice.” The only reason to do so is to discredit the idea that what happens actually is what happens.

      • Janell Payne says:

Kelly, you are obviously not a scientist, because the reason that the vaccine debate still exists is because children are still being injured. Your facts are sadly out of date and nothing has been proven. I am in the medical field and am quite knowledgeable regarding the immune system, it is possible and probable for adverse reactions, including autism, in a subset of our population.

Additionally, it is virtually impossible to run studies that aren’t fraught with bias regarding human medicine.

      • Aliekat says:

Thank you TMR for your brilliance and meticulous research! I have been drinking in every refreshing word…I chose to no longer vaccinate myself, at the age of 29. And my 2 and 4 yr old are vaccine free.
Being a student in the 80s and 90s, as I look back, I remember there were no other kids with any of the 5 A’s (allergies, asthma, etc..), even up through highschool, and only a handful of obese students that I recall…compare that to now, and I’m asking “what the heck happened?”
After reading through these posts, I noticed that no one has touched on prenatal care, in particular, moms who take antidepressants while pregnant. Also, I completely agree that vaccines are toxic, but one can’t omit baby formula, acetaminophen, fluoride, sugar substitutes, etc…which only contribute to the toxic soup being fed to children, all under the label of perfectly harmless and normal.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Thanks, Aliekat! I’m actually working on a “How to Have a Healthy Child” blog that WILL specifically address prenatal care and even pre-prenatal issues. They are SO important!

      • Just accept that you were dealt a bad hand and make the best of it says:

Aliekat… I really hope you don’t convince others to go down that road with you. Ever noticed how life expectancy has increased incredibly over the last 150 years? Do you not see how 3rd world countries are ravished by disease and illness while we only worry about getting a cold most of the time? We are doing something right, it is called advanced science. Unfortunately science can’t fix idiocy yet, but hopefully one day there will be a breakthrough from those who will regress us backwards.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

*sigh* You must have completely missed all the news articles that say life expectancy is NOT increasing in the U.S. In fact, you are likelier to die earlier and unhealthier than your parents did. Third-world countries are ravaged (not ravished) by disease and illness because they do not have enough food or clean water. Most of the parents I know in the United States are MUCH more worried about the digestive, immune, and neurological issues their children are likely to have than parents were about measles, chicken pox, and mumps in the “bad old days” of the ’60s. No matter what you think we are “doing right,” we doing many things very, very wrong.

      • Chris says:

I love how you omitted some of the nastier ones like
        •Diphtheria
        •Hepatitis A
        •Hepatitis B
        •Hib
        •Polio
        •Pneumococcal
        •Rotavirus
        •Tetanus
        •Whooping Cough (Pertussis

But ooohh those evil vaccines might cause autism. So heard immunity for your children. Might as well put a revolver to your kids head with a couple of empty chambers and play Russian roulette

      • ProfessorTMR says:

“Nastier ones”? Like as in diseases you mean? Or vaccines? 😉 I “omitted” them because they would have made for a very long post, but if you insist:

First off, NOBODY was worried about ANY of those in the 1960s but tetanus. Isn’t that interesting? Yeah, they occasionally struck children, and some even died as a result, but they were not top of anyone’s list of worries.

Diphtheria was eliminated from the United States long ago. It is not a threat. Period.
Hepatitis A is a relatively mild viral form of food poisoning. Don’t know anyone who was worried about it before the vaccine, including my ex who was the only person I know who had a bad case of it.
Hepatitis B is transmitted through sexual contact and dirty needles. Avoid those and you’re good. Yes, it is occasionally transmitted to newborns by their infected mothers, but fewer than 1 in 50,000 children ages 0-4 contracted hepatitis annually BEFORE the vaccine was approved for infants in the U.S. and THOSE children are allowed to attend school.
Hib can be quite bad, I grant you, but what if having the vaccine caused your child to develop a life-threatening peanut allergy? NOT something that should be left out of risk/benefit calculation.
Polio — ah, polio — did you know that the last wild case (imported) in the U.S. was in 1993? http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/polio/dis-faqs.htm The last naturally occurring case in the U.S. was 1979. All other cases since then have either been imported (eight total) or CAUSED BY THE VACCINE.
Pneumococcal . . . This one fascinates me. I knew ONE child in all my school years who had pneumonia. This is only ONE type of bacteria that can cause pneumonia as well. People were always threatening pneumonia . . . “Zip up or you’ll catch pneumonia!” but no one ever seemed to. If you are prone to pneumonia, by all means get the pneumococcal vaccine.
Rotavirus, seriously? That’s one of your “nastier” ones? Maybe a week of diarrhea? While the vaccines are associated with a REALLY nasty complication of intussusception? Sure if you live in a country where keeping your kid hydrated is an issue, you might be worried about rotavirus. Other than that, you’ve gotta be kidding.
Tetanus? Yep, tetanus can be lethal, but IT’S NOT CONTAGIOUS. Got any idea how few cases of tetanus there are in the United States every year? We average 25 a YEAR. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6012a1.htm Do you know how it happens? Deep puncture wound that doesn’t get any oxygen. It’s pretty easy to expose most wounds to oxygen. Even circulaton will do that. That’s why most tetanus cases are in older people who are diabetic; they have very poor circulation. In addition, tetanus can be treated with tetanus immunoglobulin (TIG) and antibiotics if they are caught early enough (another reason why most cases are in older diabetic adults, they often have nerve damage so they don’t feel the pain).
Aaaaaaaaand whooping cough. Also problematic in small children, but is most likely proliferating now because of a change in vaccine NOT because of unvaccinated children. https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/an-open-letter-to-legislators-currently-considering-vaccine-legislation-from-tetyana-obukhanych-phd-in-immunology/

Sorry, but the “Russian Roulette” when it comes to my children would be injecting them with vaccines that contain a host of ingredients capable of causing immune dysregulation https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/vaccines-allergy-autoimmunity-autism/. You’re welcome to play if you like, but I won’t be joining you.

  24. Kerri says:

I have vaccinated both of my children to a point but neither has had the MMR. I am so afraid of this vaccine and just cannot bring myself to get it done. My daughter had a slight reaction to Prevnar so I am extra careful with her. My kids were recently denied entry to a preschool because of this and I suspect it will continue to be an issue. It is very frustrating but my guy says don’t do it!!!

    • Teresa says:

Kerri, I could have written this myself. The same thing happened with my child and prevnar. The doctor told me I was “nuts” and it was “coincidence”. She was FINE before that shot. She was 2 months old and perfect and on BREASTMILK exclusively. I went through hell for the next two years. Speech delay and motor delays. Now she is a bit “off” i some ways though extremely bright. Would you email me I would like to speak to you. I too haven’t given MMR and I just cannot do it. I guess I can’t get her into school now as I doubt she will qualify for any exemption despite she has a bit of eczema and had early intervention. They say this has NOTHING to do with vaccines!!! But that MMR- That is the ONLY shot I just can’t do it- I am not anti vaccine but – after everything this child has been though – please email me!

  25. Keith Iholts II says:

I dont know what to believe. I have a diagnosis of autism, IBS and other issues. The fact of the matter though is their is not enough help and resources directed to those suffering from autism and other disabilities. This country is willing to shell out endless amounts of help and money if you are the right ethnicity but if you have disabilities you can forget it. Many of us with autism have a great deal of difficulty getting in relationships so we remain single most of our lives and our punished even further for being single and childless. We are taxed far more, dont get the benefits married people get, dont get nearly as much assistance when in need as married people get and often are expected to work more hours because we “dont have a life”. I am disgusted with the discrimination we get from our disabilities as well as being punished for being single because we have a hard time adjusting to others. Rather vaccinations cause autism or not does not change the fact we need much more help and resources to help live an individual life. We face discrimination in the work force because our social skills are very limited. I dont know if vaccinations caused my autism or not. I have not read enough about it and would like to ask various doctors on their input but I do know that regardless of what caused our disabilities we still deserve and need better assistance and that is all that matters.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

We absolutely agree that no matter how autism is caused that the people who have it need more support in order to be able to live happy and productive lives. We are part of the Autism Policy Reform Coalition, which advocates for legislation that will help all people with autism and their families

I don’t know what you mean by “endless amounts of help and money if you are the right ethnicity,” though. Private charitable organizations?

      • Davidv says:

Yes as a parent and living example its true. Vaccines cause autism. When my son was born in 2012 he was fine, looked when we called his name he copied movements, was saying words momy daddy baby . After hes got all his vaccines by the age of 1 year and 4 months i think, everything stopped….now hes 3 and a half. doesnt speak, still wears the diaper and unresponsive to simple commands… in 2014 my daughter was born and refused all her vaccines. Shes smarter now at the age of 1 than my 4 year old vaccinated son…..

I have been told by someone who asked me never to tell anyone he told me..(people in the know) that . autism is caused by delphin genetics… yess the fish delphin. Thats what these globalist satanic people are putting in there.
It all started from the year 2000.so the world did end.. in a way. That is all i can say.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

I’m sorry, but “dolphin genetics”? Really? First off, dolphins are NOT fish; they are mammals. Secondly, there is no evidence whatsoever that dolphin tissue is used to create ANY vaccines. There are plenty of things to be concerned about in vaccines, but “dolphin genetics” is not one of them: human diploid cells, monkey kidney cells, calf serum, bovine casein, fetal bovine serum, egg protein, formaldehyde, aluminum hydroxide, Thimerosal, polysorbate 80, antibiotics, detergent, etc., etc., etc.

      • Chris says:

And your daughter will likely catch mumps, rubella, measles possibly polio due to all the illegal immigrants in this country. She will get whooping cough upon entering school and will transmit all these diseases to other kids and her own kids (if she lives that long).

This is what ignorance buys us. People like this that have absolutely NO IDEA what they are talking about yet continue to insist that there children’s development was stunted by vaccines. GUESS WHAT your child was always developmentally disabled, you just didn’t recognize it. Sorry.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Oh, good Lord. Now you’re implying that illegal immigrants are chockfull of diseases they don’t have? There have been illegal immigrants in this country since we instituted immigration quotas back in the 1920s. There hasn’t been a case of polio that wasn’t caused by the vaccine since the 1970s, and there have been only TEN confirmed cases of measles so far this year. (There have been six more since this chart came out: http://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html) In addition, people who have been vaccinated are MORE likely to be spreading whooping cough than non-vaccinated people as vaccinated people can serve as “asymptomatic carriers,” meaning that they have an active pertussis infection but don’t know it. Non-vaccinated people with active infections usually are sick enough that they know to stay away from others when they are infected. The FACTS are that NO ONE’s daughter in this country is likely to catch measles, mumps, rubella, polio, or whooping cough, much less DIE from any of them.

If you try and tell another parent that YOU know more about their child than THEY do, your comments will not be approved. There is absolutely NO justification for the idea that there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of parents out there who just “didn’t notice” that their children were “developmentally disabled.” Parents face plenty of harassment on this subject elsewhere. We do not allow it here.

Please watch parents’ videos at http://hearthiswell.org/. It just might crack your shell of ignorance and denial.

What ignorance buys is ridiculous fear-mongering of this sort. If you keep posting harrassing comments such as these, I will stop approving them.

      • Chris says:

Are you a closet lib too? Illegal immigrants (especially those from south of the border) are bringing diseases like at no time in American history. The Latin American countries are fool of disease largely eradicated from the US population, LIKE measles, mumps, rubella, polio, etc. Are you that naïve? You are arguing for the sake of arguing because I don’t agree with your gunshot THEORY that vaccines cause autism, even though Wakefield was convicted of fraud and his study retracted. What is your motive? I want to know.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

There’s nothing “closet” about my liberalism. And NO, dude. I am not arguing for the sake of argument. I gave you facts. We have plenty of illegal immigrants. We do NOT have plenty of cases of measles, mumps, rubella, whether they could be tracked to illegal immigrants or not. You might say we have “plenty” of cases of whooping cough, but the rise in pertussis cases directly tracks the change in vaccine from whole-cell to acellular versions. Sorry, but you can’t just make shit up and expect to get away with it.

And just so you know, most people who believe vaccines cause autism are NOT basing that belief on a 1998 paper on 12 children that didn’t say anywhere that “vaccines cause autism” or even “the MMR causes autism” (as that was the only vaccine actually mentioned within the paper). And Wakefield wasn’t “convicted” of anything much less fraud, though there IS one “scientist” who IS wanted by the U.S. government for fraud: Poul Thorson, the principal investigator on a number of CDC-sponsored studies on the vaccine/autism link.

      • Chris says:

Dude you are such a liar. Wakefield was DISBARRED. The UK rescinded his medical license because he committed FRAUD!

Why won’t you accept that? Are you so in the tank regarding your views that you won’t accept that? He lied about the medical history of his study candidates, he completely falsified his findings and also failed to follow up on his study participants. In fact he wasn’t qualified to conduct the study to begin with. His specialty & training are GASTROENTEROLOGY. Absolutely nothing to do with the development of the human nervous system, brain and medical vaccines.

“””On 28 January 2010, a five-member statutory tribunal of the GMC (UK General Medical Council), found three dozen charges proved, including four counts of dishonesty and 12 counts involving the ABUSE of developmentally challenged children.[12] The panel ruled that Wakefield had “failed in his duties as a responsible consultant”, acted both against the interests of his patients, and “dishonestly and irresponsibly” in his published research.[13][14][15] The Lancet fully retracted the 1998 publication on the basis of the GMC’s findings, noting that elements of the manuscript had been falsified.[16] The Lancet’s editor-in-chief Richard Horton said the paper was “utterly false” and that the journal had been “deceived”.[17] Three months following The Lancet’s retraction, Wakefield was struck off the UK medical register, with a statement identifying deliberate falsification in the research published in The Lancet,[18] and was barred from practicing medicine in the UK.[19]

Is that not enough evidence for you?

      • ProfessorTMR says:

“Liar,” really? First off, a doctor cannot be “disbarred.” The bar is a legal construct. Lawyers are “disbarred,” not doctors. Wakefield’s medical license was withdrawn, a process which is called being “struck off” in the U.K. Secondly, being struck off by the General Medical Council is NOT a “conviction” in the criminal sense resulting in jail time. People throwing around the word “conviction” irresponsibly make OTHER people think and say ridiculous things like “he went to jail for fraud!” when nothing of the sort happened. I never said or implied that he didn’t lose his medical license, but, as I noted, Wakefield’s colleague ALSO lost his medical license and was completely exonerated on appeal, though many of the charges were the same as was the “evidence.” Poul Thorson, on the other hand, IS wanted by the FBI for criminal fraud. Funny, the facts are exactly as I said. In my experience, that doesn’t constitute “lying”; it’s called “telling the truth.”

Next, the whole “lying” about the medical history of the subjects is made up bullshit to go with the rest. The doctors at the Royal Free Hospital did not have access to PRIVATE medical files (which begs the question why did Brian Deer, a JOURNALIST, have access to them without the permission of the parents involved?). The process was to take a fresh medical history from the parents, which was done, NOT by Wakefield by the way, but by one of the OTHER TWELVE doctors involved on the paper in question. Any discrepancies between the “official” medical records and what was published in the 1998 paper were due to reports by the parents. Are you a parent? Do your children have any sort of medical complications? The vast majority of parents I know whose children are medically complex can tell you that their children’s medical records are not accurate reflections of their children’s medical histories. They are histories filtered through the eyes of medical personnel with very particular biases. In this case, the most obvious bias was that these children did not have gastrointestinal disease simply because they had “autism.” The paper was a case series ABOUT THE GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASE that these children — who ALSO happened to have autism — suffered with. Seriously. Read it. That’s why there were thirteen members of the GASTROENTEROLOGY department at the Royal Free Hospital’s names on it. Not sure exactly who is more qualified to investigate and discuss gastrointestinal disease than highly respected gastroenterologists…

      • Chris says:

cute professor. You know what i mean. Progress. You finally admit that he had his medical license revoked because he committed Fraud.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

“Cute”? You called me a liar when I was stating facts. There is nothing “cute” about refuting that. I would have “admitted” that his medical license had been withdrawn immediately if that is what we had been talking about. It’s hardly a hidden fact. And, no, his medical license was revoked because he was ACCUSED of fraud. That is not the same thing as COMMITTING fraud. Do you honestly think that the Britain’s General Medical Council didn’t have very strong motivations to conduct their kangaroo proceeding as they did in order to show the world “this is what happens when you don’t toe the party line”? It’s utterly clear from Walker-Smith’s appeal how much crap went down at the GMC (though for those of us who read the original proceedings and actually thought critically about what was going on, it was clear how much crap went down right from the get-go).

      • Susan says:

Someone who almost professes to be a god…all seeing and all knowing.
How can you even begin to assume what and/or who will catch anything?! Maybe you yourself will get measles, mumps or rubella…?

  26. Mazrim Taim says:

I’m sorry but autism is a neural disorder caused by genetics and is developed in the womb.
You cannot simply “become” autistic, that is not possible, you would have to have been broken down and edited at the cellular level.

There is no scientific data that autism is caused by vaccinations, quite the opposite in fact.
Scientific studies have proven that belief negative, the major troublemaker here is a study that was ran in 1998 but no one seems to remember that no scientific data was taken during that study, just hearsay from families.

Autism is “on the rise” simply because as a world wide population we have reached more than 7 billion as of around 2014 or so, so the raise in numbers is due to not only that but the fact that we now understand the workings of the brain and medical science in general better than ever so more diagnoses are happening every day.

Everyone is on the scale somewhere, we all exhibit small signs of some form of neurological disorder, rituals like chewing our nails or constantly slicking our hair back…

People pursuing this argument are doing nothing but causing a misunderstanding of the condition and therefore hindering the understanding and treatment of it.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

I’m sorry, but your comment is just mindless repetition of the same bullshit we hear all the time with zero support and zero truth — and it’s all refuted in other comments. You’re not adding to the discussion in any way.

No one is saying autism “is on the rise” because there is a higher absolute number of cases. The INCIDENCE is increasing exponentially. If you don’t know even that much, you don’t know enough to make a coherent argument
      .

      • asymptote-bag says:

How polite of you, ProfessorTMR. Obviously, you know that the way to convince a person to believe in your views is to attack their views, not their intelligence and capability to “make a coherent argument”.
I doubt that most people on this blog- likely mothers or parents who have had a child with autism and choose to pin the cause on their child’s vaccines- “add” to the discussion in a meaningful matter. Not of any fault of their intelligence, but simply because they choose to laud the author of this article for writing it and for supporting their views on vaccines, and the misguided theory that vaccines directly lead to autism.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

No, you ADD to the discussion when you say something beyond general unsupported and incorrect statements that have already been stated a number of times. If you stick around, you will find that there are lots of conversations that do not “laud the author” of this or any other article on the site, but provide worthwhile information and discussion.

“Misguided theory that vaccines directly lead to autism” is a mischaracterization. It is possible for a single vaccine to tip a child over into autism, but for most people it’s a steady increase in toxic exposures in a body that can’t detoxify. The neurological system is DIRECTLY connected to the immune system. You cannot hyperstimulate the immune system without having an effect on the neurological system. People are not “choosing to pin the cause on their child’s vaccines.” They are observing what happened in their children, doing research on what can cause the symptoms they see, treating the underlying medical problems and seeing what causes that same child to get better. That’s the scientific process, not some superstititious mumbo-jumbo.

    • Paya says:

      THANK YOU!!

    • Bill Nye says:

I don’t know man. This article gave me autism.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Most of the time I delete comments like this because they are wildly inappropriate and insensitive. You come here pretending to be Bill Nye “the science guy” and crack a joke about autism. This shows that you are utterly and completely out of touch with what “autism” means to many, many people (even if you consider yourself to be autistic). It means that at the very least parents have to do MUCH more work than the “average parent” to ensure that their children can learn and those children have to overcome overwhelming odds as well, and at the most it can mean that the parents spend the rest of their lives taking care of children who will never be able to take care of themselves. No matter how those children got to that state, it is not appropriate to mock them or their parents and minimize the challenges they face with tasteless jokes.

  27. Colin says:

First of all, I would like to say, that even if needles did cause autism, you would still need to get shots. The diseases that would normally be prevented by shots are a greater risk than the slim chance of autism (that is not real.) The only way someone can remain safe from the spread of diseases without vaccines is via herd immunity. (When diseases don’t spread because people around you are immune.)

Also, the idea of needles causing autism was merely fabricated by a ‘scientist’ named Andrew Wakefield. I would also like to point out that there is no evidence anywhere proving that vaccines cause autism.

The idea of vaccines causing autism only exists because children can begin to show signs of autism at the same age as when they are expected to start receiving shots.

This entire myth has caused such an uproar, resulting in billions of dollars being wasted trying to prove Andrew’s claims. Andrew produced a string of untruthful claims about vaccines and autism, only resulting in more controversy. This resulted in parents not vaccinating their children, and outbreaks of disease.

Another point that proves this concept false, is that nothing has been published since the fake papers from Andrew proving a link between needles and autism. There are also many papers proving that there is no link between autism and needles.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Colin, the idea of “needles causing autism” wasn’t “fabricated” by anyone. It was REALIZED, first by the people who watched it happen, then by the people who listened to the parents and treated the children.

A questionnaire sent out by the CDC in 2015 indicated that 1 in 45 children in the United States has autism. I don’t know what land you live in, but there are precious few people in the “real world” who could honestly describe that as a “slim chance.” On the other hand, the only people who have had paralytic polio in this country in the last 40 years got it from the vaccine. And only 400-500 people were dying from measles complications in the U.S. in the PRE-vaccine era. Please take a look at REAL data, not the sweeping generalizations made (and entirely unsupported) in the mainstream media. Even if everyone in the country stopped vaccinating completely today, your risk of dying of a “vaccine-preventable illness” would still be far, far lower than a child’s risk of becoming autistic on the CDC schedule. (By the way, the DTaP [includes the “whooping cough” vaccine] and polio vaccines do not do anything for “herd immunity.” You won’t see that in any mainstream account urging that you get the vaccine for your neighbor’s sake though, will you?)

No one has “wasted” any money “trying to prove Andrew’s claims.” A number of studies HAVE replicated his work. And a great deal of money has gone into trying to DISprove Dr. Wakefield’s (and those of his twelve co-author’s) very modest claims, but as indicated in the film “VAXXED: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe” a whistleblower from the CDC made it clear that they did a piss-poor job of DISproving them. Their own research found two very strong links between the TIMING of the MMR and autism that they then proceeded to HIDE from the general public, while cynically pointing to their fraudulent study as “proof that vaccines don’t cause autism” and using it as justification for shutting down inquiry. (By the way, the woman running the CDC at that point left later to go and head the vaccine division at Merck, the maker of the MMR. That is what we call a HUGE conflict of interest.)

And the OTHER awesome study that people say “proved” that Thimerosal-containing vaccines don’t cause autism was just as bad. Freedom of Information Act requests have shown that Thomas Verstraten originally found an EXTREMELY strong association between early high levels of Thimerosal and autism rates, but the CDC chose to HIDE that data as well. The study was published after four successively weaker analyses (to the point where the final one is nonsensical) got it to the point of statistical insignificance. Interesting, isn’t it? Know any scientists who want to spend four years of their life on a study that cand draw no conclusions? In other words, one that is apparently very badly designed? Didn’t stop Verstraeten, though. He has a nice job at GlaxoSmithKline in Europe. I wonder why…?

It would be a REALLY good idea for you to do some actual research before you come here. Virtually every statement you make is patently false, but I’m going to leave this link here with a listing of 123 research papers that support a vaccine/autism link. I know it would ruin your day to learn the truth, but at the moment you’re a fountain of misinformation. And that should really stop. http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html

      • Chris says:

And home many individuals did they study? 12? Just like Doctor Wakefield? Again. Another quack fabricating a study as part of a lawsuit against drug manufactures hoping to get rich.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

How many individuals did who study? Verstaeten? 127, 170. DeStefano, Thompson, et al? It’s not clear because as Thompson reports they actually threw out 40% of the data. The number they published was 2,448. And while I agree they were “quacks” “fabricating” studies, there was no lawsuit involved.

You seem to be one of the many who completely misunderstand the nature of a case series (which is what Wakefield and his 12 co-authors) wrote in 1998. It is not an epidemiological or statistical analysis requiring large numbers to draw conclusions. It is direct observation of small numbers of patients with characteristics in common. They are usually used (exactly as Wakefield et al intended with their paper) to point to new and intriguing avenues for research.

      • Colin says:

Here, I will give you a list of the reliable sources I used to prove you wrong:
        http://howdovaccinescauseautism.com/

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Very amusing, Colin. But I’m sure you realize that statements such as provided at the link are only made by people who have run out of any sort of coherent argument. In your case, it was clear you never had one.

      • Chris says:

You still do not acknowledge that Dr. Wakefield was a bought and paid for quack. what he published WAS FRAUD! Just because he HAD an MD license doesn’t make him holier than thou. Any REAL credible hypothesis is backed by a sizable study. 12 individuals (wakefield), a couple hundred is not credible. That’s someone doing the bare minimum necessary to get paid.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Wakefield was neither a “quack” nor “bought and paid for” unlike all the so-called “scientists” at the CDC who have been publishing fraudulent studies and allowing people to characterize their research as the opposite of what it really was: proof of a vaccine/autism link.

Again, you do NOT understand the nature of a case series. According to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_series

“A case series (also known as a clinical series) is a type of medical research study that tracks subjects with a known exposure, such as patients who have received a similar treatment,[1] or examines their medical records for exposure and outcome. Case series may be consecutive[2] or non-consecutive,[3] depending on whether all cases presenting to the reporting authors over a period were included, or only a selection.

“Case series have a descriptive study design; unlike studies that employ an analytic design (e.g. cohort studies, case-control studies or randomized controlled trials), case series do not, in themselves, involve hypothesis testing to look for evidence of cause and effect (though case-only analyses are sometimes performed in genetic epidemiology to investigate the association between an exposure and a genotype[4]).”

If you were TRULY interested in FRAUD. You would be railing against the CDC and its fraudulent studies. The fact is that you just wish to remain comfortable in your current spoon-fed beliefs. Sorry, but we don’t support that around here.

      • Not Troll But Unwilling To Give You People My Name says:

        Hi there ProfTMR,

At this point I’ve read your post and most of the comments.
I have a couple of questions.
        1) Your post mentioned your unwillingness to have more conversations with people who don’t share your view on this topic. You actually basically said that you’re willfully closed minded and won’t hear them. Why do you continue?
        2) Why do you cite about 3 articles only in your comments and why are they mostly blogspot url’s? It’s just a pet peeve of mine. I prefer something that isn’t just taken from someone’s blog.
        3) Is your name ProfessorTMR because you’re a professor and those are your initials or do you want to sound more credible by using the word professor? I’m not being judgemental or trying to pick that apart I’m actually curious about the reason behind it.
        4) If you are a professor, what do you teach and/or have degrees in?
        5) When you talk about rising numbers of people with ailments, do you mean that there are more people or that the percent of the population with that issue has increased? The population gets larger all the time so to say that the number of people with something is growing isn’t very useful when talking about the population.
        6) With that in mind, you don’t suppose the numbers of people with autism and ADHD you have mentioned could be growing with the population?
Also, in previous years the range of people considered ADD/ADHD and autistic have grown as well. That could be a part of it.
        7) This wouldn’t be the first time a traumatic event caused issues with a child that were slowly overcome. My younger sister was very traumatised by vaccines as a child. Wouldn’t stay still and had to be held down. She wouldn’t speak for days and barely ate. She refused to be touched and refused eye contact. But she wasn’t autistic. She got over it and is fine now.
It also wouldn’t be the first time a traumatic event triggered a mental illness to show itself that otherwise might not have. What do you think of that possibility?
        8) It is extremely uncommon for people who have what you call ‘classic’ low functioning autism to become high functioning members of society. Anyone with autism will tell you that there is no real cure for it, but with time they can in few cases become better integrated into society by learning ettiquette and such but one of the largest markers of autism especially ‘classic’ autism is the rituals, schedules, and habits that are nearly impossible for someone of that level to give up.
Now, continuing on that string, many things like autism have symptoms like those of other ailments. You’re sure its autism?
        9) Lastly, I believe in the comments somewhere you mentioned that we shouldn’t blindly trust doctors(referring to something you don’t agree with) and then defended your son’s diagnosis by saying it was a doctor. Why is a doctor’s word only worth trusting when it follows your own beliefs?

      • ProfessorTMR says:

“A couple of questions”? This is not “my” post, by the way. It was written by Blaze, another member of TMR.

        1) I am sometimes unwilling to continue a discussion with someone because they have made it crystal clear that they are not interested in a discussion; they are merely here to be a disruptor. I will not apologize for not continuing such an exercise in futility and wasting more time. I am PERFECTLY willing to have discussions with people who ARE interested in an exchange of ideas, and if you read most of the posts on this site that will become immediately apparent. (Edited to add, only just realized you were talking about Blaze’s piece on this one. She’s a lot less patient than I am. 🙂 )

        2) I don’t care what your pet peeves are. I post study links frequently, but I also post blog links when someone has done a particularly good job analyzing the data. And I often post my OWN blogs because they contain my thinking and are meticulously sourced. There is really no point in me rewriting that which I’ve already written. You are free to read them or not, but not doing so is not making you smarter.

        3) “TMR” is Thinking Moms’ Revolution, the name of this website. When we started the website, each of us the nicknames we had developed in our Facebook group. Mine is professor because of my personality, not my profession. Some of the other nicknames on the site include Goddess, Saint, Dragon Slayer, Savage, and Prima. I am an extremely curious person with a very analytical mind and an intense lifelong interest in healing.

        4) I have a degree in Physics from Williams College and work history as an Electrical Engineer and IT Professional, but I have never, ever wanted to teach for a living.

        5) Seriously? Why would anyone talk about “rising rates” as “more people”? Of course, I’m talking about percentages. It wouldn’t take you long to verify that virtually every kind of immune system dysfunction has experienced a sharp rise in incidence in recent years: allergies, asthma, autoimmune disorders.

        6) No. Not repeating it, you’ll have to read the blog: https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/steve-silbermans-neurotribes-is-dangerously-misleading/

        7) What your sister experienced is in all likelihood the same thing that so many children experience now, but she was not repeatedly retraumatized without giving her body a chance to heal. Back in the ’70s people used to talk about people “outgrowing” asthma. You don’t hear that now, do you? Because children’s immune systems take so many heavy hits so early on that spontaneous recovery is rare nowadays. With all due respect, “triggering” a mental illness to “show itself” is really semantics. If a mental illness isn’t “showing,” it doesn’t exist. “Triggering” “mental (and physical) illness” is exactly what the vaccines are doing.

        8) Of course, it’s uncommon but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. It DOES happen, and many people who USED to have autism can tell you so. Let’s start with Raun Kaufman who was profoundly “classically” autistic as a small child and his parents were told that he would never talk, interact with them, etc., etc., etc. Raun went to Brown University and now RUNS the Autism Treatment Center of America. http://www.autismtreatmentcenter.org/contents/resources/son-rise_tmc/
        http://www.autismtreatmentcenter.org/contents/about_son-rise/professional-network-raun-kaufman.php

Now let’s go to some science to back this up. Note in this study, the diagnoses were independently verified. All the children were correctly diagnosed.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3547539/

Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I’D be talking to the folks who had accomplished those kinds of results, NOT the naysayers who think it’s impossible. (By the way, I personally know the parents of quite a few of those “rare” people.)

        9) No, I’m sorry, you must be thinking of the person who wrote the piece. That was Blaze, not me. My son does not have autism and never did, though he shares a similar genetic background and health history to many people who DO have autism, except for the fact that he was not vaccinated. But not “blindly trusting” doctors is not the same thing as not trusting doctors who have proven themselves to know what they’re doing as was the case with Blaze’s doctor. Her son retains some residual social effects of autism, but no longer qualifies for an autism diagnosis. If a doctor can truly help you or your child to heal, then it would be wise to trust them.

    • Some Girl says:

There are multiple studies out there that prove that vaccines can cause autism. You don’t understand unless you WATCH your child change the exact same day he gets his vaccinations. This kid was feeding himself, walking while holding onto furniture, mimicking sounds all before 6 months old. IMMEDIATELY after his vaccines, he wasn’t the same. Now years down the road, he struggles to feed himself, he doesn’t know how to copy sounds anymore and it took a while before he could walk again. Vaccines CAN cause autism. I also know of somebody who changed within MINUTES of vaccines. 12 years old, and all of a sudden couldn’t make sentences anymore. All of a sudden having trouble feeding themselves. You can’t tell somebody that vaccines don’t cause autism when it happens in front of them the SAME DAY they get their vaccines.

      • Chris says:

Baloney. This post should be deleted. This individual is lying and trying to sway people into following their argument. Who would put such an avatar “some girl”. This individual is a troll.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

I’m sorry, Chris, but I find your comment very entertaining. 🙂 We get MANY comments from the vaccine brigade with very similar names. We don’t delete THEIR comments (as long as they are not abusive) even though they don’t have much to lose in the first place by adding a name. We don’t even call them “trolls,” despite the fact that they are indeed “trolling” our site. We’re hardly likely to delete a comment from someone that sounds JUST LIKE THE STORIES WE HEAR FROM OUR BEST FRIENDS just because the person hasn’t attached their name. We know that many people have been threatened with CPS because of their reluctance to vaccinate, others have had their livelihoods threatened. People have very good reason to remain anonymous when they express less than enthusiastic views about vaccines.

      • Paya says:

Let me just say this about the onset of autism because it seems everybody’s go to is to speak on how suddenly the change was, when my brother was one years old he would talk coo laugh make eye contact pick up the telephone and say hello, one morning he just stopped there were no more words/no eye contact/no response to his name. We thought he had gone deaf and took him to the doctor where he confirmed my brothers hearing was fine and concluded for an evaluation where he was then diagnosed. AUTISM CAN SHOW SUDDENLY. It can show literally in the blink of an eye the change is drastic it’s called regression. Children aren’t born showing the signs right away, most of them can speak talk and interact until they regress. I urge all of you with autistic children to please read about AUTISM and not just autism links to MMR. If you did you’d know how sudden autism can show.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

What on earth makes you think that it just “showed” suddenly? The fact that some “expert” said so? Occam’s Razor, the simplest explanation with the fewest assumptions is likely to be the correct one. Children who ARE “born with autism” DO “show” signs from birth. Children who are not, do not. The fact that symptoms begin suddenly is a huge clue to the etiology that many people — highly illogically — choose to ignore. And the proof is in the pudding. The people who will tell you that autism just suddenly “shows up” but was always there in the first place are the people who will tell you it’s an “incurable, genetic disorder.” They are not the people who can help your child regain nervous system function, the “optimal outcomes” as reported in this study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3547539/. Please read about autism RECOVERY. If you did, you’d know that autism doesn’t just suddenly show up without cause, causes that MAY be reversed if addressed soon enough.

  28. LeeAnn says:

Thanks for taking the time to put into this article!!! I will never understand why those who chose to vaccinate are so concerned with those who don’t. Especially if your vaccines work. Do what’s right for your family and let me worry about mine!! My story is VERY similar to yours except for that I saw what happened to my families kids and how vaccines caused serious autoimmune disease in myself and did not vaccinate my children. It is a decision that I am very happy with.

    • Paya says:

Okay * quick question * really out of curiosity if you don’t mind, what state do you live in? Just wondering because I know in CT and NC they require all children to have their vaccinations so how do you get past that? And another do you allow your child around non vaccinated children, meaning newborns and toddlers? Seriously, just wondering I’ve always wondered that, also do you travel outside the U.S, are you able to?

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Connecticut and North Carolina do not “require all children to have their vaccinations.” Both states have religious exemptions to vaccination recommendations for school entry. The only states which do not are West Virginia, Mississippi, and now recently California. In addition, many states have philosophical exemptions, and all states have medical exemptions.

There is no reason to keep non-vaccinated HEALTHY children away from other children, vaccinated or otherwise. If a parent is particularly concerned about a newborn, they would be well-advised to keep them at home. People, vaccinated or not, can have contagious illnesses no matter where they go, especially a doctor’s office. As I said, vaccinated people can be disease vectors as easily as non-vaccinated people. The “vaccine-preventable illness” most commonly encountered is influenza, and flu vaccines have notoriously low efficacy, efficacy which has been shown to decrease if flu shots are repeated annually. The second most commonly encountered would be pertussis, and vaccinated people are MORE likely to be carrying and transmitting pertussis (whooping cough) than non-vaccinated people as the vaccine is not designed to stop transmission of the disease, just acute symptoms of it. Therefore, research has shown that vaccinated people can be asymptomatic carriers of pertussis infection. Generally, if a non-vaccinated individual has an active pertussis infection they will feel very ill and know to stay away from vulnerable people like infants and senior citizens. A vaccinated individual, however, may not feel ill at all or have mild symptoms comparable to a cold, not realizing that they have an active pertussis infection that they could transmit to another individual, vaccinated or not.

Travel outside the United States is generally not an issue. SOME (very few) countries have vaccination requirements for tourist entry, but most do not. And, often, especially in the case of adults, “immunity” can be shown with a blood test or antibody titers, indicating that one has been previously exposed to the disease and developed immunity as a result.

      • Paya says:

Oh okay very interesting btw I’m aware of religious and medical exemptions, not aware of the other and so, when you decide to not vaccinate your child which category does that fall under if there isn’t a religious or medical reason. I hope you understand I’m just trying to gain some insight and not jump down anybody’s throat. Also, when I was references new born children I meant in a setting such as perhaps a doctors office, where the child would be receiving their check ups of course. But thank you for the information greatly appreciated! Also I do know that *SOME* colleges do require all vaccinations to be in order due to the close proximity and number of students. So back to I guess is not wanting your child to be vaccinated under any of the exemption categories? And how do you feel on some colleges requiring that? Do you feel it’s a limitation if the child wants to attend a college that does require, although that last question would be invalid if not wanting your child vaccinated due to potential risks falls under an exemption category, thanks for letting me pick your brain also (:

      • ProfessorTMR says:

If you don’t have a religious or medical reason, the philosophical exemption is the one you would employ. I do not live in a state with a philosophical exemption, but in my understanding the states that do use them for exemption to any one or more vaccines. Here in New York, the religious exemption is a blanket exemption, and if you allow your child to receive ANY vaccines, you can endanger the exemption. Many states are not rigorous about examining religious exemptions; they are simply filed with the school or health department. To my mind, making a distinction between philosophical and religious exemptions is arbitrary. Most people’s philosophical views are highly informed by their religious views or even vice-versa.

Colleges are a different story, at least for now. The laws cover elementary through high school attendance. Colleges will often adopt a policy of “requiring” the CDC recommended vaccines, but most will accept religious and/or philosophical exemptions. It can be a difficult situation for someone who has not been vaccinated when deciding on colleges. Vaccine policy can weigh heavily on the minds of both parents and students. Obviously, most people who refrain from vaccinating are not going to suddenly decide it’s okay to pump a kid with ALL of them, so that makes it unlikely that they will choose a college that doesn’t accept exemptions. My own cousin’s son had this issue no so long ago. He plays football and got accepted to a school that was giving him a hard time about his exemption.

Many doctors’ offices these days separate the well children from the sick children either with a separate room or by separating them in time, with the well children arriving in the morning and the sick children arriving in the afternoon or something like that. That is probably a wise and prudent policy, given that they are requesting that very young children who do not yet produce mature antibodies come in frequently.

    • Beth S says:

Here’s why ‘those who chose to vaccinate’ are so concerned. It actually IS about herd immunity. It’s about brand new babies who have no developed immune system who now have to be around unvaccinated children who might be carrying diseases their bodies have not learned to fight off.

Ditto the immuno-compromised like those with Lupus, cancer, etc. The more children who are out in our population who are not protected from these diseases not only may catch them, but now they are able to spread them to people who are at the mercy of them through no fault of their own.

The human race is still here because of Survival of the Fittest, and then vaccinations gave everyone else a fighting chance. Yes, there are people who are going to be sensitive to some of the ingredients in vaccines, but that doesn’t mean you can conclude that vaccines contain poison. It doesn’t work that way. People are allergic to eggs, it doesn’t mean eggs are poison.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Did you know that according to the CDC the children with lupus and cancer CAN be vaccinated? http://www.thevaccinereaction.org/2016/01/the-immunocompromised-still-get-vaccinated/

Did you also know that there have been less than 5 cases of diphtheria in the US in the last DECADE, and no deaths in many decades? Did you know that tetanus is not contagious? That the inactivated polio vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission of polio? That the pertussis vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission of pertussis (and actually makes transmission more likely because the host often doesn’t know that they are carrying an active pertussis infection)? That hepatitis B only affected 1 in 50,000 children ages 0-4 BEFORE the vaccine was recommended for all newborns? That hepatitis B is transmitted through blood and bodily products just like AIDS, so even if your child came into contact with that 1 in 50,000, there was virtually no possibility of transmission — which is why hepatitis B carriers are allowed to attend school? Did you know that the meningococcal conjugate vaccine is for a disease that only 390 people in the whole country got in 2014? And that 98% of the cases were “sporadic” meaning that they were not part of an “outbreak”? Did you know that immunity from the MMR wanes and a good percentage of adults are not immune to measles, mumps, or rubella? That’s why there are outbreaks of 50 cases of mumps in places like Harvard where ALL the cases were in previously vaccinated adults. That’s also why the majority of cases of measles from the Disney outbreak were in previously vaccinated adults. Did you know that the fact that we are vaccinating all little children against varicella means that people are not getting the immune boost from encounters with wild chickenpox and we are therefore seeing many more cases of shingles, and those cases are in younger and younger people?

No, it’s not about “herd immunity.” It’s about making sure that people fall in with the party line rather than actually thinking for themselves. We happen to disagree with that as a policy.

Unfortunately, the “fittest” who survived the epidemics of the past were the people whose immune systems were capable of mounting a strong defense. In many cases, those are the very people being disabled by the “immune boost” of vaccination. Awesome. We took very healthy people and destroyed their immune systems. We should be so proud.

Where is any of your management, or yourself, your medical degree? How can you claim all these things when you are not versed at all in the subject of medicine?

    • LeeAnn says:

Where is yours? Because only a doctor is capable of research, right???! Give me a break. If you blindly trust and do everything your doctor tells you to do then I feel bad for you. Apparently you haven’t realized that medical malpractice is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.. I couldn’t even count how many people I have seen doctors kill or injure in my 10+ years of practice. Use your own brain. Stop trusting someone else’s.

      • Chris says:

pleasee……the leading causes of deaths are heart attacks, breast cancer, and prostate cancers. Hardly due to doctor malpractice. Please confine your ignorance to yourself.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Oh, that’s interesting because Forbes (which is a STAUNCH ally of the pharmaceutical industry) has said this on the subject:

“According to a new study just out from the prestigious Journal of Patient Safety, four times as many people die from preventable medical errors than we thought, as many as 440,000 a year.

“Back in the old days, the IOM experts had very little concrete information to use in estimating the extent of killer errors in hospitals. But with innovations in research techniques led by Dr. David Classen, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and others, we now have more tools to tell us where the bodies are buried.

“With these latest revelations, medical errors now claim the spot as the third leading cause of death in the United States, dwarfing auto accidents, diabetes and everything else besides Cancer and heart disease. Harvard’s Dr. Lucian Leape, the father of the patient safety movement and one of the experts behind the original IOM report, says the numbers in this new study should supplant the IOM estimates from 1999. That means hospitals are killing off the equivalent of the entire population of Atlanta one year, Miami the next, then moving to Oakland, and on and on.”

Perhaps you’ll want to confine YOUR ignorance to yourself.

      • Random Person says:

Well, ProfessorTMR, if Forbes is a source you trust so much, why can’t you trust other articles on their website that prove your own writing false.

      • g says:

so, the courts should decide if this is true or not? lol. Once you have a a kid with ASD you should go to court. Do they give therapy also?

      • ProfessorTMR says:

LOL! Who said anything about Forbes being a “source I trust so much”? What I TRUST Forbes to do is to protect industries that advertise with them whenver and however they can. As I said they are STAUNCH allies of the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, when they actually post an article that implies some CRITICISM of a powerful industry (in this case hospitals), it has SOME credibility.

Their autism coverage, on the other hand? Amounts to nothing more than industry-sponsored propaganda. People are welcome to seek out the two writers who they employ to smear anyone who is actually doing something about autism, but we won’t help them out by providing links to such garbage.

  30. MissAce says:

I was going to start this by expressing sympathy that your child has autism but I won’t. Autism is simply one of many things that make us unique as individuals. However, let me preface this by saying that I have grown up around people with special needs – my mother works in the special needs department of our local high school. Further, my younger brother has Asperger’s, which I’m sure you will write off as not being “classic” autism, given your response to Jensen down below.

Autism is not caused by vaccines. Period.
The reason that many people believe it is, is that the MMR vaccine is administered at the same time during development that symptoms of autism tend to present. It’s entirely coincidental.
According to numerous sources, including the CDC, thimerosal has not been used in any children’s shots (with the exception of some flu shots) since 2001. So that knocks that argument right out.
There has not been a single published study since Wakefield’s showing a causality between vaccine’s and autism. There have been countless published studies proving that there is NO link between them. Personal anecdotal evidence does not trump professional scientific research. Wakefield was struck off the British medical registry for being a fraud and a charlatan, not to mention his systematic abuse of his “subjects”.
Finally, not vaccinating your child is dangerous. Many children who are immuno-compromised are not able to receive vaccinations. They rely on the healthier people around them to be vaccinated, in order to prevent the spread of diseases that could kill them. It’s called herd immunity. The more people receiving these safe vaccines, the healthier the population is.
Finally, there is no “cure” for autism. While there is nothing wrong with providing a healthy lifestyle for children, there are horror stories all over the place of parents subjecting their autistic children to chelation therapy and bleach enemas, among other things. This is dangerous, bordering on child abuse I my opinion. Once your child is autistic, they will always be autistic. End of story.

In conclusion, vaccines do not cause autism. Wakefield and his anti-vaccination brethren are dangerous frauds. There is NO THIMEROSAL in the MMR vaccine.

    Learn the facts, and vaccinate.

    Ace.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Sorry, “Ace,” but you just served up a double-fault.

There have been ZERO studies published that prove “there is NO link between them.” There have been many studies published that indicate that there MIGHT be no link between them, but two of the ones people most often point to as “proof” — Verstraeten’s Thimerosal study and the DeStefano et al study on MMR timig — both have serious problems that were revealed by FOIA requests. The actual data in both cases indicated VERY strong links. In addition, many MORE studies have been done that support the link, many by indicating exactly how hyper-stimulation of the immune system can directly affect the neurological system to which it is intimately related. I think it’s unlikely you have read any of that research, and that’s a shame. It’s quite fascinating.

Many children who are immunocompromised have gotten there with the help of a vaccine reaction. Too bad they didn’t know BEFORE they had the vaccine that their bodies couldn’t handle it. In addition, immunocompromised people should not be around people who have been recently vaccinated with live-virus vaccines because the vaccines can and do shed, causing illness.

And while you insist that there is no “cure” for autism, children all over the world are quietly getting better. Tell Raun Kaufman “Once your child is autistic, they will always be autistic,” and he will probably laugh in your face. He is the dynamic and outgoing head of the Autism Treatment Center of American, who gives energizing and amusing lectures all over the country, and who was so profoundly autistic as a child that his parents were told they might as well institutionalize him because he would never so much as interact with them. Even Thomas Insel acknowledged that recovery exists once it was finally reported in an NIH study a couple of years ago.

And, yes, we know there is NO THIMEROSAL in the MMR. We’re usually the ones telling the so-called experts that. 😀

We’re well aware of the facts, thanks. And we won’t be vaccinating.

      • Karol King says:

OK ProfTMR – where are your studies showing the link between vaccines and autism?

I am researching this topic for a paper for my university class and I have found lots of studies (full peer reviewed and published studies) that there is no link between vaccines and autism and so far only Wakefield’s retracted, discredited and scandalous case study of 12 children that there is. My mind is open, but the data so far is pretty overwhelming.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

You are going to have dig beyond what you can find in the mainstream media. They would have you believe that none of this exists: http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html

        Also, check out my blogs on “Critical Thinking 201: Vaccine Science,” about study design and signal-to-noise ratio;
        “Anti-Science: ‘You Keep Using that Word. I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.'” about how it’s not “anti-science” to read science critically;
and “Vaccines: Allergies, Autoimmunity, Autism and More” about some of the explicit mechanisms involved in immunological and neurological effects from vaccines.

And please, please understand that two of the most important “cornerstones” of their “vaccines don’t cause autism” “proof” are both highly manipulated studies that actually showed the opposite: 1) Verstraeten’s Thimerosal study (published after 5 re-analyses when they they could FINALLY get to the point where the strong signal they received was flattened and reduced to statistical insignificance; and 2) 2004 study on timing of the MMR that CDC researcher William Thompson confessed was only published after they deviated from the study design and DUMPED 40% of the data, then literally THREW IT AWAY. You are being lied to.

  31. Abigail Rhodes says:

Hello! I am doing a high school English project about moral issues in society. My project is about morality behind vaccinating and not vaccinating children. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions that I could use in my project about why you do not vaccinate your children?

    1. Many people believe if someone does not vaccinate their children they are putting other children at risk of certain ailments. What would your response be to people who believe this?

    2. What ingredients in vaccines cause autism?

    3. Are there certain types of vaccines that cause autism, or is it all vaccines?

    4. What were your previous views on vaccines before this incident?

    5. Are there any other reasons why you don’t believe in vaccinating children?

    • ProfessorTMR says:

      Hi Abigail,

Thanks for coming by and thinking about the topic. It will be great to get others thinking too.

You should know, first off, that autism is by no means the only form of harm that vaccines can do. Autism is a particular manifestation of a general problem. The general problem is that some people find it harder to detoxify than others. Our general world has become so toxic even before we vaccinate that many children’s bodies are already overwhelmed by the struggle to maintain health. When this happens, the immune system takes over to try and remove the offending toxins. These people tend to respond very strongly to vaccines and create high levels of antibodies that can then attack different tissues in the body. All vaccines are intended to hyperstimulate the immune system and can cause such a reaction, but certain ingredients do tend to make it worse, especially when they are given together.

Thimerosal is a compound that is made up of 50% mercury, one of the most potent neurotoxins on the planet. It was used as a preservative in a number of children’s vaccines prior to 1999, when it was supposed to be phased out. (A CDC study performed by Thomas Verstraeten and published in 2004 with no conclusions, had a few prepublication versions, all of which found a strong statistically significant correlation between early high exposure to Thimerosal and autism rates.) It is still contained in many flu shots given to pregnant women and young children, and “trace amounts” (which are not always as low as claimed) are in a number of other vaccines administered to infants and toddlers. Many people with autism present with symptoms that are very much like mercury poisoning and many of those recover — some completely — by chelating the mercury out of the brain.

Aluminum adjuvants are used in a number of vaccines to stimulate a stronger immune reaction than could be produced by the antigen alone. Aluminum itself is a neurotoxin, but its worst effect may be the ability it has to stimulate the immune system into making antibodies against anything it is injected with. High levels of aluminum in drinking water is strongly associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Much less aluminum is absorbed by the body when it is ingested (e.g., in drinking water) than when it is injected.

Polysorbate 80 (also known as “Twwen”) works to open the blood-brain barrier, making it easier for aluminum and/or mercury to enter and stay in the brain.

And the antigens themselves can also be harmful, especially if they get into the brain with the help of Polysorbate 80. The measles mumps and rubella vaccines (MMR) have been directly associated with autism rates in specific populations. A whistleblower from the CDC, Dr. William Thompson, recently revealed that he and his colleagues study published in 2004 left out a number of effects that the study authors and their bosses did not wish to report because they made the vaccine “look bad.” They found that in African-American boys who had had the vaccine “on time” (i.e. before the age of 3) the autism rate was 3.4 times higher than the rate in African-American boys who did NOT have the vaccine on time. They also found that the chance of having had the MMR “on time” was significantly higher for children whose autism didn’t have a ready genetic explanation, what they called “isolated” autism.

To get an understanding of the mechanisms behind all this, you might want to read this: https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/vaccines-allergy-autoimmunity-autism/

Most people who do not vaccinate now used to believe, as much of the general population does now, that “vaccines are safe and effective.” It was only when something happened that blew that belief out of the water, or they spoke to a credible person who no longer believed, that they began to investigate the truth of the situation. A law was passed in 1986 that gives vaccine manufacturers financial protection against any of the harm their products do. Since that time, you can see that the vaccine schedule has exploded, resulting in many, many more children with allergies, asthma, autism, ADHD, and autoimmune diseases.

The answer to your first question is far more nuanced than most people present it. First of all, the polio and pertussis vaccines are not designed to prevent the transmission of polio or pertussis, so vaccinating yourself CANNOT protect anyone else and not vaccinating yourself cannot increase their risk. And as we are finding in the case of pertussis, you are more likely to encounter it in a vaccinated person than a non-vaccinated person because they non-vaccinated person will always be sick if infected, and thereore they tend to stay home and away from vulnerable people. Not so for vaccinated people who frequently don’t get sick or have only a mild illness comparable to a cold when they are actually infected with pertussis and contagious.

As you will find, those are by far the two diseases of most concern for people as they are fairly contagious and have a fairly high number of complications. The next most “concerning” disease for many is measles. Measles is not nearly as awful as most people make out. If you watched television shows in the late 1950s and 1960s, you will see that the majority of people considered measles “no big deal” and practically a rite of passage to adulthood. In addition, many people found that their children were healthier and stronger AFTER a measles infection than they were prior to the infection. Even before the vaccine was developed, the CDC estimates approximately 3-4,000,000 cases of measles a year, with only about 450 deaths, which tended to concentrate in poorer communities that lacked good sanitation and nutrition. That may seem like a lot, but it averages out to only about people per state and the death rate had been dropping dramatically for some time and there was no reason to believe that it wouldn’t continue to drop even with such high rates of infection. Even in the 1950s, your chances of dying from measles were extremely low. And now, due to the vaccine immunity “wearing off” at least 10% (and probably more) of fully vaccinated adults are no longer immune. We do not know who those 10% are. If those adults get “boosters,” the immunity will last for a shorter time than it did before. There is no feasible way to keep the entire adult population “immune.” So, no matter how much of the child population is vaccinated, there will always be susceptible VACCINATED people, many of which will travel to countries with high rates of measles infection.

Rubella, on the other hand, rarely causes death at all, though it has been known to cause birth defects. The strategy in the past has been to put the responsibility for avoiding those birth defects on the entire population of young children. Why we should take the risk of harming children who are perfectly healthy to spare OTHER children from similar kinds of harm, though, is a bit muddy when another strategy could be equally as effective in avoiding birth defects due to rubella infection in pregnant mothers: women who wished to become pregnant could have their rubella titers tested to see if they are immune, and if not, could choose to vaccinate themselves prior to getting pregnant. That way the risk of vaccination falls on the only people who can benefit from the vaccination.

Chicken pox? Almost never kills. And the fact that it is NOT circulating like it used to has led to a higher incidence of shingles (which is caused by the same virus being reactivated) and now the call for a shingles vaccine. Shingles used to be a disease that older people with no exposure to children would get. Now, much younger people are getting, including vaccinated children.

Hepatitis B is blood-borne and transmitted through sharing needles and sex with an infected person. In addition, fewer than 1 in 50,000 children in the age range the vaccine is given were exposed to the virus even BEFORE the vaccine was licensed for children. The majority of infected children were born to mothers who had hepatitis B. Your chances of encountering hepatitis B in a school setting were always vanishingly low, and the risk of transmission is that much lower (which is why children who are hepatitis B carriers are allowed to attend school)

Rotavirus is rarely problematic in developed countries at all, and is spread by feces. Relatively easy to avoid infection in children who are past the diaper stage, and daycare workers should be careful about washing their hands in the first place.

The HPV vaccines are for a sexually transmitted virus that many, many people have and the vast majority of them (95%) clear any infection with no ill effects. the vaccine is not expected to have a significant effect on the death rate from cervical cancer. (A mainstream study concluded that it was only likely to save about 1300 lives over the course of approximately 60 years of vaccinating. That’s approximately 0.5% of the number of projected deaths. Hardly a drop in the bucket.) In addition, the vaccine has been associated with devastating side effects. It seems that is another case where it should be up to the person receiving the vaccine whether they wish to risk the possible side effects in order to prevent an illness that isn’t likely to appear for another 30-40 years in their future. And you cannot put anyone “at risk” if you’re not having SEX with them.

The vaccines designed to combat invasive bacterial meningitis are an even more interesting case. There are only about 400 cases in the whole country every year that are covered by the vaccines. Yes, you read that right. Not deaths, cases. The death rate is pretty high at about 40%, which is why it scares people. But right off the bat it’s clear that you are HIGHLY unlikely to contract “vaccine-preventable” meningitis. In addition, many people are exposed to the bacteria and develop immunity without ever getting sick. Therefore, they have no need whatsoever for a vaccine. Approximately 1% of the people who receive the vaccine will have “serious adverse events” probably requiring hospitalization; 0.3% of those will die. That means if we vaccinate all the children who are “at risk” for bacterial meningitis, we would be killing more people than we could possibly save. And my favorite fact of all: 98.5% of cases arise “spontaneously” and are not part of an “outbreak,” which means that whether or not you get meningitis has far more to do with the state of your own immune system than it does to do with the vaccination status of your neighbor.

I hope you can see that it’s clear that the vaccinated have virtually nothing to fear from the non-vaccinated, unless there is sex involved. If there is sex involved, you have so much more to worry about than whether or not your partner has been vaccinated for hepatitis B and HPV that youngsters need to be taught to communicate clearly on the subject long before they encounter a situation where it could be a concern.

  32. Charles Igel says:

The only reason that this link can be found, is that we, as humanity have raised the spectrum of what is autism and what is not. Anyone that does research in causation should COMPLETELY understand this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Oxford-Handbook-Causation-Handbooks/dp/0199642583. I have read it many times and understand causation, and see that this study is set up wrong intentionally, to prove a political agenda. As a researcher, I know that if the funding stops, research can not continue, and most researchers want funding so badly, they will lie (or set up an experiment wrong), to keep the funding wrong. Before you believe something like this (and post about it too) you must COMPLETELY understand all of the “moving parts” of the experiment, or else, do NOT publish it, especially on the internet. Thank you.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Actually, no you don’t need to “COMPLETELY understand all of the ‘moving parts’ of the experiment” in order to publish what you believed happened to YOUR child based upon what YOUR doctors have told you. In addition, there is no “study” or “experiment” mentioned in the piece, so your whole comment about a study being “set up wrong intentionally to prove a political agenda” makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And we would fully agree that researchers have been known to lie or make up results in order to keep funding. Guess who is funding most research these days? There are two main avenues: the government (National Institutes of Science) and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Who is likely to be making stuff up or “setting up an experiment wrong,” the researchers who get the results that support the behavior desired by the government and pharmaceutical companies or those who are getting results that go completely against those “recommended” behaviors, like the well over 100 papers and studies on this list? http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html

In fact, we have direct evidence (from Freedom of Information Act requests) about such data/experiment fudging in two key studies produced by the CDC that are pointed to as “proof” that “vaccines don’t cause autism,” (when, of course, anyone with a brain can see that they don’t prove anything of the sort). The first was a “neutral” study (which, by definition, proves exactly NOTHING) performed by Thomas Verstraeten that didn’t find an association between autism and the mercury-containing Thimerosal preservative. Only the published version of the study was at least the fourth different analysis of the data, and the first three DID show a clear, statistically significant, dose-dependent relationship between autism and early high exposure to Thimerosal. The second was a study that was set up to determine the effect of MMR timing on autism rates. We have evidence from one of the researchers, Dr. William Thompson, that the researchers broke their own protocols when they found a result they didn’t like and deliberately THREW AWAY THE DATA so that they could plausibly pretend that they had never gotten a strong association between getting the MMR “on time” and autism rates in African-American boys.

So, yeah, don’t lecture US about experiments set up “to prove political agenda” and understanding all the “moving parts” of causation. We’ll continue calling it like we see it, thank you.

After 3 years that I found out my son’s autism now he is 6 years old, I wanted to share my thoughts, findings, experience. I hope this will help few people.
For some people, Autism is caused by vaccines. It is like allergy. If your parents have allergy you will most likely will have that allergy. It is as simple as this. Every person’s reaction to any allergy could be different. Some less, some more. Someone needs to figure out a test, and families should be mandatory to take that test and know their risks.
Q: How can I improve the symptoms ?
A: They are quite obvious.Digestions problems: diet, but keep trying to add new food every day, Speech problems: speech therapy, Sleeping problems: if you can, change your house. This goes under “environmental ” issues. So, changing the house, room will give a chance to reset some things. It helped me.
ABA Therapy? It helps. How much it will help? It depends how much the damage caused by vaccines.
Will this nightmare will be over? It depends. A lot of time, money, love, can fix a lot of things. It also depends how much is the damage. I am hopeful that my son will be able to talk (now he can say things that you want him to say but not as conversation) and do things.
You need to take him/her everywhere you can. You need to teach everything. Learning is slow, but when they learn they will do it.
    Good luck.

  34. questions says:

So do you not believe in any vaccines at all? Or just the ones that doctors bombard infants with? The shingles vaccine is a wonderful example of a vaccine that has not caused any sort of autism, and is administered to middle aged to older adults. As someone who’s father contracted shingles a few years back and the outburst led to MS, I would not hesitate to get vaccinated against shingles as an adult. I feel like there is a blanket statement on ALL vaccines, when really, each vaccine is completely different than another. Just wanting to know your opinion…

    • ProfessorTMR says:

It’s not a question of “believing” in vaccines or not. It’s a question of understanding the risks and benefits of each vaccine on an individual basis. Contrary to popular belief, vaccines do not get a blanket stamp of “safe and effective” the moment they are developed. In fact, they are frequently not tested in the populations they are “recommended” for because that would be “unethical.” Nor are they tested against true placebos. Nor are they tested in the combinations they are usually administered in. Once you know this, you can never just accept a bland assurance that “it will be fine.” Vaccines are designed to hyperstimulate the production of antibodies. Repeatedly doing that in the absence of pathogens to attack has consequences, whether we like it or not. https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/vaccines-allergy-autoimmunity-autism/

The shingles vaccine is an example of a vaccine that would be completely unnecessary for the majority of the population if we hadn’t decided to recommend another unnecessary vaccine for the majority of the population. Chicken pox is a benign illness in the overwhelming majority of cases. In addition, though, circulating chicken pox serves to “tune up” the immune systems of older people and keep them from getting shingles. By eliminating the circulation of chicken pox to a large extent, we are seeing many more cases of shingles at younger and younger ages. Awesome, huh? Not only are the elderly and the very run-down susceptible to shingles now, so are young children. And, while infections CAN trigger autoimmune illnesses like MS, they seem to be triggered more often by vaccines. When I had an extremely mild case of shingles (small patch of blisters on my hip that hurt a bit, then itched for a week or so), I transmitted the virus to my children who both had chicken pox as a result. The vaccine for chicken pox is a wrong-headed move. Because vaccinated people can and do get shingles, you cannot eliminate chicken pox completely. All you can do is readjust susceptibilities to people who are more likely to have serious adverse reactions because they are not at the age when it is commonly contracted and is the safest, and make the whole population susceptible to shingles.

  35. JENSEN_CURTISS says:

    okay #1 I have Autism.
#2 my autism was not caused by vaccines.
#3 I had my autism from when i was born, not from when i got a couple microscopic bits of mercury shot into my arm.
and according to your high and mighty third paragraph, the government gives money to people who have children with autism that is supposedly caused by vaccines. well let me tell YOU something! THIS is what I think of the government: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO2eh6f5Go0.
that man is not a liar.
the government only gave those people money because they KNOW they can just tax it back from them.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Jensen, you may very well be correct about YOUR autism. That doesn’t mean anything about anyone ELSE’S autism. My father died of lung cancer. He never smoked a day in his life. Clearly, “his smoking” didn’t cause his lung cancer. Does that mean that the two packs a day someone else smoked didn’t cause theirs? Hell, no!

No one is “given money” by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program in order for it to be taxed back. Money is awarded only when it is abundantly clear that vaccines caused a great deal of physical damage to someone’s body. That money is awarded in order to compensate those individuals for the way that damage has affected their lives.

  36. shauna hod says:

I’m sorry, but you people need to step away from the kool-aid. You children may have…”may have” a condition that carries the same characteristics as autism, but that doesn’t mean that is what they have.
Many illnesses parody another illnesses symptoms. It has been proven that the doctor who first presented this alleged connection was wrong. His research was bogus, he was after his 15 minutes of fame, and fools like you have given it to him.
The only negative outcome of not have a
child vaccinated is permanent injury to that child including, damaged teeth, seizures, deafness, cognitive disabilities, joint infections, bone infections, pneumonia, sepsis, encephalitis, meningitis ,and death. Not a complete list by any means. To make matters eorse, On top of which a non-vacinated children put young children, children with compromised health, and the elderly at risk of all the above.
My father, my son and I all have autism. It wasn’t caused by vaccinations, and neither was your childs.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Your father and you may have what has come to be included under the ASD umbrella, but you do not have “classic autism.” People with “classic autism” are not parenting children, nor are they finding posts they disagree with on the Internet and trying to define autism for others. Plenty of people who DO have “classic autism” had that autism induced by vaccines. By the way, Andrew Wakefield,”the doctor” you referred to, and his twelve co-authors at the Royal Free Hospital in London were not the first people to consider the topic, nor were they the last to research it. (This is a list covering most of the research that supports the link: http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html.) Whether or not Wakefield et al’s research was “bogus” (and this is what the parents of those children have to say about Wakefield and his co-authors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHrgYxqcU0w) is entirely beside the point, and always has been. No one is basing their decision not to vaccinate upon a case series back in 1998 that involved 12 children. If they were, they would indeed be fools. Unfortunately, you have bought the media lie hook, line, and sinker, but it is indeed a lie: “Andrew Wakefield and Jenny McCarthy Made Me Do It” Is a Big Fat Lie!

In addition, you should know that many of the things on your list of “negative outcomes” are also “negative outcomes” of vaccination, as are allergies, including life-threatening food allergies, asthma, autoimmune conditions of all kinds, and many kinds of neurological conditions, including autism whether or not it caused the “autism” in your family. One has to weigh the likely costs of BOTH vaccinating and non-vaccinating when deciding what is appropriate for one’s family.

Thank G-d for the millions of people wh0 follow the wellness paradigm which builds the immune system of the infinitely brilliant self-healing design of the human body with G-d given nutrient dense, healing, natural and unpoisoned nourishment that can then beautifully deal with the wild, immunity-priming childhood fevers. That is only one part of healthful living, it’s not one dimensional, but keeping out poisons, foreign DNA, and the assortment of pathogens that are combined to be injected into healthy children ostensibly to keep them “disease free” – is the start of keeping one’s family off the “medical grid”. Our organization has counselled 1000’s of parents about their responsibility to understand all the issues surrounding vaccines BEFORE allowing them to be vaccinated. We provide CDC and other govt published documentation as well as research from doctors and scientists who have concluded that vaccines have and are causing irreparable and serious damage to 3 generation and millions of people. Inevitably, anyone who is clear headed and not a cult-follower type, trusting their own intelligence can read and listen to the plethora of material available about vaccines – WILL NOT EVER CONSIDER A VACCINE AGAIN FOR ANY LOVED ONE YOUNG OR OLD!

    • Karen says:

I have personally witnessed negative effects from vaccinations and the children were fine before so perhaps it is best to realize vaccinations should be carefully considered. As a child we received vaccinations and still came down with mumps, measles, and chickenpox. My bro had to go to the hospital with mumps and he was vaccinated.
What is true is the conditions people live in have improved. Better healthcare (?), clean water, better nutrition, better living conditions, less stress compared to say depression era.
There is absolutely no real studies that show non vaccinated children are a health risk but there are children that have died shortly after receiving vaccinations and within hour! So this should be a carefully researched decision.

  37. Nathaniel Bouchie says:

Only 1/4 of all children today have chronic diseases. 1/4 is not the norm. I can understand how you would think that given your background, but the statistics are important. And where is the scientifically proven chemical evidence that your doctor has that can prove your child’s autism was caused by vaccines? “Correlation Is Not Causation.” I cannot repeat that enough.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

First off, your statistics are debatable. According to a mainstream study, the number is more than 40% and if you count obesity the number rises to approximately 54%. Secondly, even if the number is only 1/4, IT’S OKAY WITH YOU THAT 25% OF KIDS ARE SICK?!! It was nowhere NEAR the case in the “disease-ridden” 1960s when I grew up. I was the chronically ill kid with the eczema, and later the ear infections, and later the allergies, and later the asthma (sound familiar?). I was a FREAK. I knew virtually NO ONE with those issues. Can’t say the same now, can you?

And you may be content to wait for “scientifically proven chemical evidence” to answer your life questions, but you should know that it’s anything but “scientific” to just wait for someone else to produce the science that answers your questions.

And yes you can repeat “correlation does not equal causation” enough. As a matter of fact, the once was completely unnecessary. You don’t have to bother because we’ve already heard it a few hundred thousand times. And even those were unnecessary because that’s obvious from a logic point of view. I wonder how much you understand it, though? It also means that you cannot draw a conclusion about “causation” if the incidence of a particular disease drops after a vaccination campaign, and yet we’re expected to believe THAT correlation means the vaccine caused the drop. Interesting, isn’t?

And even MORE interesting, to me anyway, is that correlation is evidence for causation, and once a correlation has been established, more investigation should be done to determine whether causation is indeed likely. In some cases, a strong enough correlation is the best evidence we will ever get of causation. In a court of law a relative risk of two, meaning that something is twice as common in an exposed population than an unexposed population (correlation) is considered evidence of causation because it is “more likely than not” that the exposure caused the condition. Did you know that epidemiological evidence revealing a strong correlation is the only “proof” that exists that smoking causes lung cancer in humans? Or did you think they were doing double-blind placebo-controlled trials and seeing how much lung cancer they were able to induce in test subjects? But where’s the “scientifically proven chemical evidence that your doctor has than can PROVE” your lung cancer was caused by your two pack a day habit?!

By the way, there is a great deal of evidence out there that the ingredients in vaccines can destroy neurons. There is also evidence that they hyperstimulation of the immune system caused by repeated injections of vaccines has a direct effect on the developing brain. Is that “proof” that her child’s autism was caused by vaccines? Nope, but it’s pretty damned good evidence that vaccines are involved in at least some autism. Take a look at the studies on this list that support the link between vaccines and autism (and other neurological conditions). http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html

The good thing about being an Aspergian is the remarkable ability to do a task efficiently, and good attention to detail. Have you ever heard of a novel named Look me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger’s by John Elder Robison?

    Thank you, excellent article. However, here is where I disagree;

“…Which leads to the argument that there are people who cannot handle vaccines, and that’s why everyone ELSE should be vaccinated — to create herd immunity for those that are contraindicated, immune-challenged individuals like my son. ”

Vaccines SHED live viruses. Disneyland? Those unvaccinated children contracted measles from a vaccinated child carrying the live MMR vaccine. That science backed information was suppressed and deleted from search engines. There is too much money being made, folks. Someone may have cached it if you have the time to search. The flu shot, as we see continuously, CAUSES the flu, then spreads to others. Especially the nasal variety, “FluMist”, which is live for up to three weeks. A single unbridled sneeze sprays a FIVE foot radius at 30 mph. It’s no wonder all seasons are “flu seasons”.

    • Charlotte says:

I forgot to explain that these GMO viruses, rather than being a tame facsimile, are super serums without natural regulation. This is how something as normal as childhood measles becomes a deadly disease. Rather than an uncomfortable week of oven mitts, it becomes a death sentence.

“The proof in the pudding is that, as the number of required vaccinations has gone from five to 89, previously rare childhood disease have now become commonplace — Autism, Type I diabetes, life-threatening allergies, juvenile arthritis, leukemia, asthma and Crohn’s Disease. In these couple of generations, the environment has gotten cleaner, except for the internal environment of the children, polluted by mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, ethylene glycol, MSG, etc.”

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Whoa, Charlotte. They tested the people who got measles at Disneyland and determined that it was a B strain. The vaccine is derived from “A” strain. The Disney cases were NOT due to a recently vaccinated child. On the other hand, it’s unlikely they were due to an unvaccinated child either. The CDC believes that they came from a traveler from the Phillippines, who was in all likelihood an adult who had been previously vaccinated like so many of the cases themselves. Outbreaks cannot be prevented by vaccinating 100% of all children, because there are many adults who are susceptible due to less than 100% effectiveness and waning immunity.

My child had vaccination injury after her 18 month shots. HepA and Dtap. Hers was immediate. She has a rash on her arm and her temp spiked to 105 took her to the emergency room. Her reg pediatrician the next am. She lost all words, started having tantrums, loss of eye contact. Pediatrician noticed it and sent in a VAERS report. I watched it happen. I KNOW it was from the vaccines!!!!!!! I am seeing a DAN Dr. And give her fermented cod liver oil, gluten and casein free diet. Probiotics, digestive enzymes. A droper full of cilantro 2 times a day. And its beginning to work. My little girl is slowly coming back to me. I’m devastated but I am not giving up until I detox it out ofher and she returns to normal.

      • Chris says:

THANK YOU. There are so many TV shows and soccer mom myths being perpetuated on this site that vaccines cause autism it’s disgusting. It’s simply NOT TRUE.

Get this straight. You people are not doctors or biomedical researcher. You don’t know WHAT THE HELL your talking about. PERIOD!

Part of the reason we have seen the big spike in childhood diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, etc. is because of fools like the ones of this website screaming and yelling that their mentally disabled children are the way the are because of vaccinations. There is no correlation at all between the two. If you don’t have a keen eye regarding your children’s development from an infant it’s very easy to overlook a mentally disabled baby from a normal baby (assuming it’s not down syndrome), until they start getting older which coincides with the age we start receiving vaccinations. They are not related.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

First off, we haven’t SEEN a “big spike” in measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, etc.” Measles cases are running lower than average this year, while last year, despite an outbreak probably begun by a traveler from a country experiencing a raging epidemic, was fairly ordinary. The majority of cases that we ARE seeing (other than the “normal reactions to the vaccine,” of course) are in adults who were previously vaccinated, which by the way was predicted even before it was learned that the immunity conferred by the vaccine wanes over time. https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/measles-public-health-crisis-that-wasnt/

Mumps? What’s driving mumps outbreaks? Were you even aware that Merck, the maker of the MMR, is being sued by two of its own virologists for fraudulent efficacy data? They claim that the vaccine is nowhere near as effective as Merck says it is, and that isn’t all that effective in the first place. Now we have, again, all these previously vaccinated adults (and mumps vaccine wanes even more quickly than measles vaccine) who are susceptible to mumps. Mumps is MUCH more dangerous in adults than in young children. Awesome, we’ve just moved people’s susceptibility up to an age where it can do some serious damage. http://blogs.wsj.com/pharmalot/2015/06/08/merck-is-accused-of-stonewalling-over-effectiveness-of-mumps-vaccine/

Rubella? You’re joking right? Would you even know if you’d had rubella? Because according to the CDC “About half of the people who get rubella do not have symptoms,” and when people DO have symptoms it’s a mild rash and a low fever for a couple of days. Personally, I don’t know anyone who claims to have had rubella, much less anyone reporting a “big spike” in cases. http://www.cdc.gov/rubella/

And pertussis… Pertussis (whooping cough) isn’t “spiking.” It’s gradually increasing in prevalence ever since the DTP was replaced by the DTaP. The DTaP doesn’t prevent transmission of pertussis. Vaccinated people can be carriers with a mild version of the disease or even asymptomatic all over, so they don’t even know they’re sick. It also doesn’t protect against parapertussis, which actually causes many cases of “pertussis.” And an increasing variant of the pertussis bacteria (PRN-negative strains) actually attacks vaccinated people at a HIGHER rate than non-vaccinated. https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/an-open-letter-to-legislators-currently-considering-vaccine-legislation-from-tetyana-obukhanych-phd-in-immunology/

Now, do you have ANY idea how arrogant and condescending you come across with the statement “If you don’t have a keen eye regarding your children’s development from an infant it’s very easy to overlook a mentally disabled baby from a normal baby”???? Stick around and actually LISTEN to the people who say that vaccines hurt their children (you can find plenty of them here http://www.hearthiswell.org/ ), and you will find that not only did many of them have “keen eyes” regarding their children’s development, they had exceptionally keen eyes. To assume they do not is pure arrogance on your part. When it comes to these children, “YOU don’t know WHAT THE HELL your (sic) talking about. PERIOD.”

Oh, and by the way “mentally disabled” doesn’t begin to cover what happened to these kids.

  44. B Gregory says:

I had a friend. She was working. The phone rang. She looked positively panicky until she looked at her cell phone. I asked her what was wrong. Her daughter had a serious fish allergy. If she even smells fish, she must be taken to the hospital or she could die. She was one of the reasons I researched the peanut allergy epidemic. What could possibly be causing it? I found the answer. You cannot be allergic to something without first being exposed to it. Scientists have injected animals with food protein and aluminum adjuvant to create food allergies in the animal. Is there food protein in vaccines? I found many patents for adjuvants and culture mediums with food products. No matter how refined an oil can be, there is a trace of food protein. Not every kid gets the food protein in the shot. Just the unlucky ones. How can this be legal? It is. Pharmaceutical companies can “self affirm” GRAS (generally recognized as safe) ingredients. GRAS ingredients do not have to be listed on the package insert. Self affirmed GRAS ingredients don’t even get submitted to the government and they become a protected trade secret, protected by international trade law. Every food oil known to man was listed in the patents for vaccine adjuvants. Every food known was listed in patents for culture mediums. Only the final culture medium is listed on the package insert.

    • Anonymous says:

Actually, food allergies are caused by a LACK of exposure to foods.
Allergies come from the immune system not being able to ‘see’ what a safe food is in pregnancy and infancy, and later reacting violently to it. For example, if the immune system doesn’t receive exposure to peanuts in the early stages, then it causes an allergy to it, because the peanuts are seen as a threat and violently resisted.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Anonymous, no one seems to agree on what causes food allergies, but it seems that when people are treated for leaky guts food allergies improve. Generally, allergies require some exposure in order to be sensitized. However, the exposure can be to something else that causes an immune reaction (like vaccines, for instance) that triggers antibodies to be made that can cross-react with something else due to molecular mimicry.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

        Sorry, Lizard.

        2) Unless you work in third-world countries, number 2 is not remotely credible. According to the CDC there have been NO deaths due to measles in the last 10 years. Zero. In addition, the percentage of people who “refuse to get vaccines” remains quite small. The odds against the possibility that you would happen to have treated 20 of them who happened to DIE of the disease (the death rate of measles was approximately 1 in 8,000 cases of measles in the pre-vaccine era according to the CDC’s statistics) are more than astronomical.

        3) “The media” does NOT connect the dots: As Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. says, science journalists don’t read the science. That’s why sites like ours MUST connect the dots for people.

        4) The only “debunking” that has happened to the studies you’re referring to has been from highly interested parties whose own studies do not and cannot withstand scrutiny — a.k.a. “debunking.”

        5) Do you even understand the irony of what you are saying? You say that you have high-functioning autism, then criticize the thinking of others and claim that it must be due to autism. Therefore, you are implying that your OWN reasoning is faulty at best. I agree that your own thinking is faulty at best, but I cannot know whether or not it is due to your autism. What I can categorically say is that the vast majority of people who believe that vaccines cause autism, including myself, are NOT autistic.

If you still think that the cdc is just a big fat company looking for profits, take your conspiracy theory bullshit to Canada.
        -excerpt from website:
The United States Anti-Vaccination Movement is composed of a variety of individuals ranging from former doctors who should know better, to semi-celebrities who have no medical training, to anti-government conspiracy theorists who distrust anything that the government says. They all hold onto the mistaken belief that autism is caused by receiving childhood vaccines.

Most anti-vaccination believers claim that the compound Thimerosal led to an increase in autism cases. The Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine is their usual target. However, Thimerosal was never used as a preservative in the Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine. No vaccine licensed since 1999 has contained Thimerosal as a preservative, except a few multi-dose container vaccines such as some (but not all) HIB and Influenza vaccines. Autism has not declined since 1999, thereby disproving this connection. However, this has not stopped anti-vaccination believers from claiming that it was the MMR vaccine itself that caused autism or that it was vaccines in general that caused autism. All of these ideas have been disproven in multiple scientific and legal examinations of the evidence. The primary scientific reason for the increase in autism diagnoses is due to more disorders being included in the Autism Spectrum and doctors getting better at diagnosing the characteristics of autism.

In 2007 there was an increase in celebrities promoting anti-vaccination rhetoric. Because of their celebrity status they appeared on several television shows and published multiple books advising parents not to vaccinate their children. This has led to an increase in the number of vaccine preventable illnesses as well as an increase in the number of vaccine preventable deaths.

The Anti-Vaccination Movement has a body count attached to its name. This website publishes the total number of vaccine preventable illnesses and vaccine preventable deaths that have happened in the United States since this 2007 increase in speaking out against vaccines.

Is the United States Anti-Vaccination Movement directly responsible for every vaccine preventable illness and every vaccine preventable death listed here? No. However, the United States Anti-Vaccination Movement may be indirectly responsible for at least some of these illnesses and deaths and even one vaccine preventable illness or vaccine preventable death is too many.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

        Hi Busy-body,

I don’t believe anyone has ever said the CDC is a company, fat or otherwise, looking for profits. It’s a government agency STAFFED by people with tremendous conflicts of interest. Even if you don’t care about conflicts of interest, a.k.a corruption, when people hold government jobs wherein they are supposed to put the good of the people ahead of any corporate interests many other people do.

I love it when people describe the “Anti-Vaccination Movement” like it’s some club we joined instead of just being people who are strongly interested in good health who talk to each other. I also love it when people try to tell us who we are. I’m not a “former doctor” (though most of the doctors I know who question vaccines are STILL doctors), a “semi-celebrity,” or even “an anti-government conspiracy theorist.” Three strikes. Guess that means I can’t be in the “Anti-Vaccination Movement.” I’d better turn in my membership card.

Yes, we do believe that vaccines trigger quite a bit of autism. And, yes, many of us believe that mercury in the form of Thimerosal injected into infants whose blood-brain barriers are wide open and who frequently have gene mutations that make detoxification, particularly methylation, slow and difficult, is one of the many ways they do so. However, there are few who EVER made the mistake of thinking that Thimerosal was in the MMR vaccine. Though I do see that mistake being made constantly by “pro-vaccine” commentators. The issues with the MMR have nothing to do with Thimerosal. And you know what? The folks at the CDC know very well that we know better because we’ve told them many times, they just have a stake in trying to make us look stupid.

The “body count” stuff is utter bullshit. It has been shown time and again that the increase in pertussis is related to reduced efficacy of the DTaP shot from the DTP shot (that they stopped using because it was racking up an impressive body count of its own). No one has died of measles in the last 10 years according to the CDC, though there are two deaths in the MMWR listed in the past few years. Why don’t you think they want to talk about those? I’m suspecting it’s because those people actually died of the vaccine strain of measles, either because they were vaccinated when they were immunocompromised or because they encountered someone who was recently vaccinated when they were immunocompromised. In addition, the current resurgence was predicted long ago based upon the reported efficacy of the measles vaccine. That was even before they knew how soon it wore off in many people. Those are the ONLY two “vaccine-preventable” illnesses that are rising in prevalence.

I don’t know about you, but I really hate it when government agencies lie to me to promote an agenda, especially an agenda that lines the pockets of pharmaceutical manufacturers to the tune of $40 billion this year while and is so dangerous to the health of so many.

Is the practice of vaccination directly responsible for every vaccine-related death? Yes, it is. Why is it, do you suppose, that entirely preventable deaths from vaccination don’t matter when we consider the risk-to-benefit ratios as a country, but every conceivable “vaccine-preventable” death DOES? As far as I’m concerned, everybody counts or nobody does.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Oh, I forgot to mention that saying that the rate of autism “hasn’t dropped” since 1999 is more than a little disingenuous. The rate of autism when it is released is for 12-year-olds. The rate released in 2013 was for children who were born in 2001. If you weren’t paying attention, you might think that Thimerosal suddenly disappeared from vaccines in 1999. Not true. 2001, the year these children were born, was the first year that most manufacturers “removed” Thimerosal from their vaccines (by the way, there is no oversight on this “removal.” The FDA merely requires that the manufacturers file a “process” for the removal of Thimerosal. There is no actual testing to determine if the process was successful.) Most pediatricians had stores of Thimerosal-containing vaccines on their shelves that they continued to use for another year or two. In addition, that was right around the time that the CDC started recommending flu vaccines for pregnant women and children as young as six months. Those flu vaccines usually carry a full 25 microgram dose of Thimerosal.

But that’s all a smokescreen anyway, as almost everyone acknowledges that mercury is NOT the ONLY problem with vaccines — by a long shot — and we have added a number of vaccines to the infant schedule since 1999. Despite the “removal” of mercury from most childhood vaccines, I don’t have any expectation that the next release of autism numbers will indicate a drop. There probably has been a shift in how and when issues manifest, but not an overall drop in numbers.

      • SonyaDor says:

If autism is not insulting to you then why do you take such offense to being called autistic and why do you fight against vaccines if you are so accepting

      • ProfessorTMR says:

I don’t take any offense at all to being called autistic. I took offense at the fact that he USED “autistic” as an insult. I would feel exactly the same way if he used “gay” as an insult, and I would take zero offense at being called gay either.

I don’t “fight against vaccines,” I tell the truth about them, and just because I accept people with autism doesn’t mean I “accept” the damage being done to them. I accept people with ADHD (like my daughter) or apraxia (like my son used to be) too, but I don’t for a minute “accept” their health being unnecessary collateral damage in someone else’s drive for power and money.

  48. I believe everyone has the right to decide their own child’s care. Wish I did. I work at the hospital and they have forced us to get to test sometimes two and three times a year. Then all of a sudden we run out and now it’s safe to not be vaccinated for that but they are trying to make it mandatory to get a flue shot. I have seen nurses that get the shot then get the flue. To that I say no thank you. I have only got the flue once working in the health field and I got it from my daughter, not a patient. What about the stuff in a shot that people are allergic too or it gives Altism to. We should be able to decide not the goverment

ith my older one ,I did everything PERFECT as per DRS. orders.2nd son was when things were rough.Took meds. for depression for 2 monts before I knew he was coming ,then immediately stopped them.I’m beginning to believe that it was all the chemicals I was exposed to when working. In fact I worked up to maternity leave with my older son.I latr found out that 3 women died of cancer that worked right along side me.Again Who Knows????????????????????????????????????????

How can I figth for my son..i believe my son autism was cause by vaccination too. At age of 2….he is 8 now.

    • paige says:

Autism symptoms arrive around the age of 2-3. The same time that vaccines are given. But there is NO CORRELATION.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

There is a HECK of a correlation. Haven’t you heard the “correlation is not causation” catchphrase? What they don’t tell you is that a STRONG enough correlation is EVIDENCE for causation. As a matter of fact, that’s how they “proved” cigarettes cause cancer.

      • Lara says:

My daughter displayed symptoms of autism at 9 months, immediately following her DTaP vaccination. We thought her case in babbling was a hearing problem at first. But her hearing tested normal. By 14 months, we had paperwork in hand for her autism diagnosis.

Up until 9 months, she was fine. Hitting her milestones, engaged with people, etc. After DTaP, she suddenly wasn’t.

She is 13 now. Still not potty trained, in spite of very early intervention with intensive ABA therapy. Still very limited verbally, in spite of very intensive speech therapy from 14 months on.

So I will believe the evidence of my experience.

But it isn’t just my family’s situation. I read. Does it ever strike anyone that the government and vaccine manufacturers are trying too hard to push the “vaccines are totally safe” narrative? It is now being recommended that people with known allergies to vaccine ingredients be immunized anyway under observation. What, the shit, is that all about? We know that vaccines, like any other medical intervention, are “unavoidably unsafe.” This is the entire reason behind the vaccine court system in the U.S.

A few independent researchers are trying to determine the cause behind some people’s susceptibility to vaccine injury. There is no large coordinated effort, however. Shouldn’t there be? With any other med or procedure, over the years, doctors would become aware of conditions or other medications that contraindicate the use of a particular intervention. With vaccinations, they are pushing more and more for everyone to get them. Allergies or immune disorders be dammed. That is not normal medical procedure.

  52. You are so right Blaze and we must speak out. I have been collecting parents voices of vaccine injury and over 1,300 voices have responded. You are not alone add your voice to http://www.followingvaccinations.com Just found out that Dorit Reiss owns stock in GlaxoSmithKline. She had to declare it at the National Public Health Conference when she made her presentation on “recouping costs of nonvaccination.” Here’s a link. It is a matter of public record also.

  53. Sandra says:

    Hi Blaze,

Thank you for sharing your story.

I think that you’re completely right that each family needs to decide what is best for them. I was confused though about your son’s vaccine injury – was it autism or was it an over reactive autoimmune response to the vaccine? I’ve read that autism is permanent and irreversible – did your son have a special type or autism or was it something else?

Regardless, I agree that our own research is definitely important, and I think it’s also pertinent that we familiarize ourselves with the diseases these vaccines are meant to be preventing. For me, I see this debate as being a choice of risk of X disease vs risk of autism.

If it’s tetanus, polio, or rabies etc, where if my child contracts it they could be in a lot of pain and die or be seriously crippled for life, then I don’t think I could live with myself knowing that a choice I made could have prevented their death or physical disability. Having traveled to countries where these diseases are quite prevalent, it scares me to no end. I contrast this to autism, where if my child has it I would be surprised, but autistic children are able to lead fulfilling lives with adequate support and love. And I would much prefer the latter if I could help it. Yes, my family would be a little different, but I would still have my child with me, whole and alive, and I think that makes the decision worth it on our end. I think the odds favour vaccination as well, especially given how few children have autism in comparison to the total amount of kids who have been vaccinated.

Again, thanks for your story – I wasn’t aware that yours existed and am glad that I stumbled upon it. I just wanted to share my two cents as well.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

You have READ that autism is permanent and irreversible, that doesn’t mean it is. Many of our parents have been told the same. Many of them have children who have recovered and are now attending mainstream schools. Keep researching.

This definitely does NOT come down to risk of disease or risk of autism. Autism is ONE (well, maybe more like a combination of up to 8-10) type of adverse reaction to vaccines. There are MANY. Many of them are life-threatening. The fact is that in this country there is a vanishingly small likelihood that your child will die from a “vaccine-preventable” illness, while there is a very GOOD likelihood that your child will have an adverse reaction to a vaccine. I have had a child who died, but I have two who live. Would I bargain their health away to lower the already absurdly low risk of death due to a “vaccine-preventable” illness? No. I would not. They have the right to live their lives in good health and not have that destroyed because I made unwise decisions when they were babies.

      • paige says:

AUTISM IS not a reaction to a vaccine. AUTISM IS PERMANENT. Children can learn to cope better with what autism brings them, but that does not mean it can be cured. It is a permanent disorder. The only thing that makes it “better” is that fact that they can get help to make it easier to live with.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Paige, it has been true for a long time, but it was recently acknowledged by a mainstream study that approximately 9-10% of children with autism “lose their diagnosis.” Meaning they are not “coping better with autism” they no longer HAVE autism. Will that happen to everyone? No. Does that mean that a large percentage were not triggered by vaccines? No.

      • gok gul says:

STOP LYING! Vaccines may cause the Autism. Not every person, kid is the same. My son became autistic after the vaccines. If you want I can prove it with videos, pictures, before and after the vaccines. LYING or politics or BS will not solve the problem. Delay the vaccines for 6 months/year and you will see, all of a sudden Autism will appear at 4 years old. It is as simple as this. DON’T LIE. If this was your kid you would understand. SHAME ON YOU

      • ProfessorTMR says:

I understand your passion gok, but paige isn’t necessarily lying. Many people believe that vaccines have nothing to do with autism, including many people with high-functioning autism. The problem is that a lot of people assume that what is true for THEM is true for everyone, and that simply isn’t so. It may very well be that paige knows someone who has autism that was NOT due to vaccines, but that does not mean that there aren’t many cases of autism that ARE largely due to vaccines.

Could everyone please act like a responsible smart adult here? Autism isn’t a disease, adverse reaction or something you can suddenly get. Autism is a difference in how the brain is wired. You are born with it. You don’t get it because you where vaccinated. So please do your research.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Hmmm… “responsible smart adult”s apparently have read and believed exactly what you’ve read and believed, which would of course mean completely discounting what they’ve seen with their own eyes. SOME people are born with autism. MANY develop it later, and they can even lose the diagnosis if the child is treated for injury, like Blaze’s son. I would suggest you spend some time talking with people OUTSIDE your circle who have very different experiences with autism. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFCrfK5rP_B6huriP1hLApw In addition, you might want to read through these 100 studies and papers that support the tremendous effect hypstimulation of the immune system can have on the neurological development of young brains: http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2007/06/no-evidence-of-any-link.html

      • X says:

Do you have a degree in anything medical?

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Nope. Fortunately for me, I don’t let that stop me from thinking and learning — or thinking that I can learn. 😉 My background in physics, engineering and computer programming have all been very helpful in that regard.

    • Wendy says:

Many children with autism are not able to lead fulfilling lives, actually. Many of them die from wandering off and drowning, being hit by a car or freezing to death. In 2008, Danish researchers found that the mortality risk among the autism population is twice as high as the general population. In 2001, a California research team found elevated deaths in autism and attributed it to several causes, including seizures and accidents such as suffocation and drowning. I’d love to see a comparison of numbers for the U.S. – children with autism who died from autism related issues vs. unvaccinated children who died from “vaccine preventable disease.” Unfortunately I don’t have the time to look those numbers up, since I have a child with autism to care for.

      http://nationalautismassociation.org/resources/autism-safety-facts/

I do think that many people have the same point of view, that they would not mind having a child with autism – but they must be imagining the quirky kids they see pictured on TV and not the ones that drown at age 3, are abused by adults that care for them and can’t tell about it, or bang their heads against a wall until they bleed. Think of those kids too when you imagine your child having autism, think about their lives and how some of them are not “whole” and some of them are not alive any more. Imagine a police manhunt for your child with the end result that they find his body in a retaining pond or lake. Imagine your adult child, grown bigger than you and breaking all the windows in your house, hurting themselves and others and crying in pain that they can’t explain. That’s the autism no one really talks about. And that’s the kind of autism your kid could have.

I personally have a son with autism, one of the ones who “wanders” – we got him a tracking bracelet and chimes on every door and constantly watch him but he has still escaped a few times and had narrow misses with drowning, car accidents and freezing – I am thankful that I learned about recovery, and we are working with a great doctor now – my son may not recover fully, but he has made massive strides after detoxing from vaccines, addressing health issues and working with great teachers. From zero speech to full sentences – you don’t have to believe it happens, but we know it does. You don’t have to believe it was a vaccine injury, but we know because our DOCTOR told us. You can believe that every unvaccinated child will probably die from these “terrible” diseases and that all the kids with autism are leading happy, sunny, quirky lives, but we know that unvaccinated kids are generally healthier than the vaccinated ones and the kids with autism are dying.

      • Toni says:

Thanks for clarifying this for us 🙂
I’ve seen a lot of posts from people who have mild autism, and say they are offended by comments categorising autism as an undesirable affliction. Whilst that may be true for them, the spectrum appears to be wide and not all have a happy ending.

    • Lesly says:

But why should we have to make this choice? ___ disease – or autism. Mercury, Aluminum , Formaldehyde…have no place in our vaccines. They just make them cheaper to produce. The vaccines could and absolutely should be made safer. Why on earth would anyone be against that? I think the world’s gone batshit crazy.

  54. Becky Dulin says:

I totally agree that vaccinations should be done only after a thorough family medical background check has been done for each child. A doctor doesn’t give a person medication before asking what meds they are already on, so how do you give a baby a vaccine without knowing if there are already existing medical issues in the family that may affect the child’s reaction to the vaccine? I have urged my son and his wife to seriously consider this issue with their seven month old son. My question to you is, after what happened to you sister and with all the autoimmune diseases that are in your family, why did you allow your son to be vaccinated? I’m not trying to place the blame on you I’m just wondering why you did not do for your son what you are urging other parents to do?

    • BlazeTMR says:

Feel free to place blame on me, I take a large part of it. I will say I was raised to trust doctors and I never heard any talk of vaccine injury or family history amongst family so I just didn’t know to do my own research. I blindly trusted. So why do I tell other parents not to do what I did? So they can do their own research and make fully informed decisions for their children, unlike me.

  55. Kat says:

My son is autistic, yet has never had a vaccine..HOWEVER.. Every doctor I see say the vaccines could cause him great harm because of him being autistic, that it could make his autism on the more severe end of the spectrum. I get the vaccine pushers in my face saying “see vaccines didn’t cause his autism…blah blah blah’. Funny thing is though I was severely injured by a vaccine in college (MMR). It caused many issues that took years to overcome and I then was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism..which is …an autoimmune issue. I am not convinced vaccines are not why I have an autistic son..and I am sooo thankful I trusted my instincts not to vaccinate him..since..as you say with your doctors..his doctors and therapists are now telling me to not vaccinate as they seem sure it would make him worse. It just proves to me that doctors do know that many are not good candidates for vaccines and they just don’t check before they inject.. It’s madness. I pray one day things will be better and I appreciate stories like yours that help raise awareness .

    • Selene says:

Hey 🙂 our son has some autistic traits and we are doing CEASE therapy with him, I have learnt from there that the cause can come from you taking medications before or during pregnancy, many things can cause it (including simple nose spray). When I was pregnant I had early contractions due to my infection, I was put into hospital and was given medications and antibiotics. When we addressed this issue with CEASE we saw tremendous changes and improvements, now we are about to treat his vaccinations, I feel positive it will do great things. I wish you and your family everything the best!

    • Lesly says:

you’re very lucky you have such responsible doctors – so many doctors would not only suggest but insist that a child like your son have the vaccine. most states mandate it. my son has neurological issues and an auto immune disease and most doctors try to push vaccines on him. they say we all have to vaccinate to protect those who can’t right? well who are those people who can’t – if not our sons?

Thank you so much for telling your story! I get so sick of all the sheeple who post all the mainstream media stories. Which is nothing but name calling and scare tactics. It is getting crazier all the time with the way we non vaccinators are being treated. Sorry if I seem angry I just don’t understand to aggressive attitudes! Here is what happened to us recently….
My 2 yr old had a Febrile Seizure a couple of weeks ago and stopped breathing for 2 mins. It was so scary! She was breathing by the time we got to the ER. But when the doctor got into see us. He found out she wasn’t vaccinated and proceeded to lecture us on it!!! My husband got mad and asked him “if one had to do with the other?!!” He said well “Uuuhhh no.” My husband said “then we are done talking to you about it!”
So here is the reason we no longer vaccinate… We followed all the “rules” vaccinated our older 2 on time and they got it all. We were never very comfortable with it but that’s what “everyone” did and what the professions said to do. Then by our 3rd child we were more uneasy about them. Plus were busy with the other 2. So we were late on all his and he never finished. Kiddo #4 got maybe 2 sets late and that’s it. Well fast forward 7+ years. We now have 8 (age 13-11mos)children. All FULL (same Mom and same Dad) siblings and ONLY our 2 oldest kids are sick!!!! Both have allergies and one has asthma!! None of the others show any symptoms of either. Explain to me how that is hereditary?!!
I have been on both sides and did my own research. I have proof in my own children. I don’t care what people with vested interests think or what people that don’t do their own research (more than reading a Big Pharma pamphlet or talking to a dr) think! If others want to believe in vaccinating go ahead but don’t call me crazy. If you believe vaccinations work, then you are safe, right?!

I just thank God we stopped when we did! I don’t want to imagine what health issues we would be dealing with now!

    • Mia Herz says:

As a genecist I can tell you that this is not at all at odds with hereditary knowledge. There is growing eviddence that things like allergies have genetic components.
      http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1216071/
It’s not as easy as Mendel and his peas which you might have learned about. They are called complex genetic traits. It takes a long while to explain, but all it means is that genetics is a factor and something in your genetic heritage will increase your chances to get a certain disease. It doesn’t mean all your children will get it. Genetics doesn’t work that way

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Sure they have “genetic factors” (though I’m not so sure I buy you as a geneticist if you can’t spell it…), but the very fact of it being a “factor” implies an environmental “factor” as well (which could be a much larger factor than the genetic one). A better understanding, given that the incidence of asthma is rising rapidly, is that something in the environment is causing epigenetic changes to the genes in the apparently large number of people who already have the genes that are capable of being “switched on.” Clearly, it would be best to avoid those environmental factors.

  58. Devin Bearden says:

Scientists do not throw away evidence because they find it goes against what they originally believed, they embrace it.
By disallowing the other viewpoint, you create a world where you wrongly believe most other people agree with you (see replies below).
I can’t believe that you say people on the “other side” of this issue are close minded when you won’t allow the other side of the issue to post on this website.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

AGREED! Scientists worth the name do NOT throw away evidence because it goes against what they originally believed! Which is why it’s shocking to me how much evidence is utterly dismissed by scientists on the very subjects in this post, including the “anecdotes” of THOUSANDS of parents. Which by the way is “data,” just not quantified or formally studied data.

Plenty of posts from people on the “other side” of this issue have been approved. We don’t approve abusive posts. Unfortunately, quite a number of people who believe as you do DO tend to get abusive. Thus, you will not see their posts.

And we certainly don’t “disallow” a viewpoint that is pervasive in the culture and mainstream media. 🙂 I don’t know anyone who doesn’t get hit with that viewpoint at least several times a day.

We’re not creating any kind of “world” here; we HAVE created a safe space here for people to get facts that they DON’T see in the mainstream media, and to explore their thoughts and feelings on the subject. Not to worry, we don’t kid our selves that “most other people agree with us.” We’re actually very well aware of the statistics on the issue. Indeed we frequently cite them: http://www.nclnet.org/survey_one_third_of_american_parents_mistakenly_link_vaccines_to_autism

(Note that a HIGHER percentage of parents who consider themselves well-educated on the subject believe that vaccines cause autism. Educate before you vaccinate!)

      • Toni Reid says:

Scientists are only people after all, and are as resistant to change as anyone else. History is littered with the stories of scientists who had radical theories that challenged the status quo – from Semmelweis to Peter Higgs. Higgs’ first paper was rejected by a journal and he was accused by other scientists including his colleagues, of failing to grasp the basic principles of physics. Even Stephen Hawking bet $100 that the Higgs particle wouldn’t be found. We now know that the discovery of the Higgs Boson particle is a game changer. Being open to new ideas should be a scientific cornerstone, however many abandon objectivity when the theories they have embraced are threatened.

  60. LFM says:

The canary in the mine shaft is singing its heart out, trying to warn others of the danger, but they refuse to heed the warning. I’ve experienced the same. My own son regressed and became autistic rapidly after a HepA vaccine at 2 years and 2 months of age. He lost the ability to speak, which after 16 years of speech therapy, he still has not entirely regained. I’ve tried to warn people, but they just don’t want to believe it. It’s too scary for them to believe that their government does not actually protect them, but rather colludes with corporate interests to increase their profits at our expense. My heart bleeds for the innocent children who will be harmed, but warning their parents is all I can do.

  61. Thank you Blaze! I’ve been saying that this for 10+ years now & banging my head against the wall with each utterance! I wish you & TMR were around 10 years ago. You can’t imagine how glad I am that you all are now!

We are all chemically created differently and how something, be it a Twinke, a smoothie or a vaccine affects us all very differently. It can be as simple as “why are some people more sick than others?” Open your minds people. What works for you and yours does not necessarily work for mine. Thanks again!

  64. Antoinette says:

I had my children in the 1970s and 1980s. My first child had his immunizations. My second child had 4 series of shots. I was so sick of them getting shots and me bringing them home to spend 4 or 5 days with a baby with an extremely high fever. Trying to keep their fevers down watching them suffer. How can that be good for an infant? My youngest two sons had absolutely no vaccinations. Not one. They are all grown men two of them are fathers. There is a place on every form where a parent HAS to write out their child”s vaccination record, where you can mark yourself exempt for religious or personal reasons. It’s on the back of the school forms. No one can make you immunize your children. In all the years that my non immunized children were attending public school, one time my youngest was sent home because there was an outbreak of a childhood disease he wasn’t vaccinated for. He missed a couple of days of school but never got the disease. I don’t think poorly of parents who get their children vaccinated. It just wasn’t for me. I haven’t experienced much negativity toward myself for not getting my children vaccinated. I have though often wondered why there is a “new” mental disability called “autism”. Where the hell did that come from? Never ever heard of it until the 1990s. I did know one person who’s child was rendered “retarded” after getting a DPT vaccine. She still lies in a bed in a vegetative state at the age of 35. Sad but true.

    • Maryellen Parmenter says:

Just because no one had heard of autism until the 1990s doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. A lot of autistic people could have been diagnosed as insane or mentally handicapped before autism was understood.

      • hps says:

That’s all well and good Maryellen, but according to the US census data children are ten times more likely to have a disability today than they were in 1950.

So whatever rediagnosing may have occurred it couldn’t account for a fraction of the cases we see today.

And by they way, if you think that doctors have systematically relabelled various conditions, then how do you know they haven’t done the same thing for polio, diphtheria, pertussis, measles etc. That is a far more plausible scenario being as a) doctors use vaccination status as a part of their diagnoses; and b) the macro data for child health corroborates this (both healthcare expenditure and childhood disability data).

      • GJP says:

Autism was well known before the 1990s. Laymen described it with the terms you just used. The medical community used the word “autism”.

    • Chris says:

Well your extremely lucky. Now go encourage everyone to do the same thing. No vaccinations for anyone! And watch your kids all get sick and die.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Antoinette WAS “lucky” with her youngest child, but hardly extremely lucky. MOST people we hear from who have vaccinated and non-vaccinated children report that their non-vaccinated children are far healthier than their vaccinated children. Here at TMR, we agree with Antoinette that vaccinating is a PERSONAL decision. That said, if everyone stopped vaccinating right here and now, many children would “get sick” — meaning they would come likely down with chicken pox, mumps, measles, and rotavirus at some point in their lives — but few would die. Mortality rates from virtually all “vaccine-preventable diseases” dropped drastically BEFORE their vaccines were developed. In the years just before the ineffective killed measles vaccine was released in 1963, there were 3-4 million cases of measles per year and only about 400-500 deaths, corresponding to a death rate of approximately 1 in 8,000 cases of measles. In addition, having the measles turns out to have some immune system benefit for those who go through it, reducing the risk of brain cancer significantly. Prior history of mumps infection (which RARELY kills), reduces a woman’s risk of ovarian cancer. Like it or not, the decision to vaccinate is not nearly as straightforward as you present it.

  65. Susan Lee says:

The power of the pharmaceutical industry with its influence and money cannot be denied. It has indoctrinated the majority of the public into believing faulty science. Today’s vaccines are not safe nor effective in combatting the permanent spread of infectious diseases. Vaccines may provide temporary immunity. Mumps was once a typical childhood illness. Young children who had mumps acquired lifelong immunity. With the advent of vaccines with its waning immunity protection (if at all), getting mumps is postponed to an age period beyond childhood when it is more potentially threatening to one’s health. Indeed, since the 1990’s vaccine manufacturers have rebioengineered many existing vaccines because it was more profitable. These new vaccines have minimal vaccine safety oversight given the highly flawed vaccine approval process and extreme legal liability protections afforded to the vaccine manufacturers. The harms outweigh the benefits of vaccination.

  66. L. Mackey says:

You have summarized everything in this blog post that has taken me the past 15 months to glean from my own research, and through discussions with my daughter’s chiropractic neurologist. I became wary of the dangers of vaccinating while I was pregnant, but I hadn’t researched enough about it to turn me against it entirely by the time my daughter was born. So, I became a “delayed” and “selective” vaxer. None at birth. First immunization at 4 months instead of 2 months. Only one vax at a time. I went back each month for one jab for the entire first year of her life. She reacted to the Hib vax at 5 months, but my pedi assured me it was just a superficial reaction (red, swollen leg, screaming violently). Sadly, I believed her, but I held off on that vax until she was almost 13 months. She started hand waving at around 8 months. I just thought it was a cute little quirk and laughed when she did it. At 13 months, she halted all developmental progress and proceeded to regress. By 15 months, my once normally-developing child was no longer trying to walk, talk, play, or feed herself. We never even had the infamous MMR jab, or half of the others. Hib, DTap, and pneumococcal were the only ones she’d had. She was diagnosed at 17 months with PDD-NOS, now considered ASD.

The point you make about children having immune systems that are impaired, thus, are susceptible to autoimmune and neurodevelopmental damage caused by toxins is absolutely true. However, I don’t feel it’s hereditary in any way. I am entirely convinced that it’s 100% environmental. Big Food, Big Ag, and Big Pharma have been poisoning us for generations with harmful herbicides, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals, chemical additives and preservatives, fluoride, and OTC and prescription drugs. These substances pervade everything — our food, water, even the air we breathe. This toxic chemical soup has become the norm for the average American consumer. We have all been damaged at the cellular level…going back to the beginning of the industrial revolution. And the toxic load has only gotten heavier with each passing generation. We have finally reached a breaking point. If people don’t clean up every aspect of their lives, they will continue to create disease from the moment of conception. A toxic and damaged body can only create another toxic and damaged body.

My family and I are in the process of going clean, detoxing, and attempting to repair the damage. It’s going to be a long and difficult journey, but I have hope.

Thank you for your wonderful blog, and your open eyes!

MAYBE those vaccines saved lives many many years ago..and I’m certain many years ago those vaccines didn’t have the ingredients they have in them now. I think that’s what many people miss who do vaccinate their children. I’m not against saving lives, nor do I want to spread disease. I’m not a careless, neglectful mother who shouldn’t have children. Why is it so had to grasp the concept of what is being put in these vaccines. It’s what these vaccines are made of that I’m against and refuse to poison my children with. I wish parents that had both views would just respect each other’s decision. It’s the same as what religion you choose..what your political views are, you aren’t responsible for raising my kids, as I’m not raising yours. Thank you for his article.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

The ingredients in vaccines of the past were not identical to the ingredients of vaccines today, especially as there are so many new vaccines that never existed before. However, vaccine ingredients have ALWAYS been rather iffy. I’m currently reading The Virus and the Vaccine, about the history of the development of the Salk polio vaccine and its contamination with simian viruses. It makes for some scary reading when you realize that no one knows exactly what comes along for the ride when you grow viruses on a medium such as monkey kidneys.

      • jennifer martin says:

There are professional medical journals that have been published since the 1940s when vaccines started to be REQUIRED for school attendance that state that the pertussis vaccine is neurologically toxic. You need a special search engine to find them, but they are online and readable.

    • Not a busy-body says:

Unless we live in the time of the Crusades or the Holocaust, religion doesn’t get you killed. Diseases do. Also, we aren’t trying to raise your children. We’re trying to protect ours.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Has it ever occurred to you that that’s EXACTLY what we’re trying to do? And has it ever occurred to you that MANY of the people who no longer vaccinate WATCHED one or more vaccines hurt their own precious children, sometimes horrifically and irreparably? No, of course not. We’re all just selfish people looking out for number 1, not caring about anyone else at all. That’s why we spend all our “free” time working our butts off on websites like these for pocket change.

      • gok gul says:

so, you want to save your kids. Now I understand, for a greater cause you can sacrifice some of the other kids and as long as its not your kid that will be OK. SHAME ON YOU and SHAME ON YOU and SHAME ON YOU again. And, you think it is OK to even think that way. SHAME ON YOU.

  68. Susan Lee says:

Americans need to break the Pavlovian conditioning which pairs the mere mention of “infectious disease” with immediately racing to your nearest pharmacy/doctor’s office to get a vaccine. Relying on vaccines as the only answer in preventing infectious diseases should not be an automatic reflex. Other countries do not have nearly as many immunization requirements for children, and there are no news reports of deadly epidemics. In fact, outbreaks seem to occur in vaccinated populations. Vaccines have significant and serious side effects. Unfortunately, this information is suppressed.

  69. Lone Star says:

Not only is it a simplistic viewpoint, it prioritizes some people over others. Each life is sacred and the bottom line is that every life can be protected by practicing good hygiene, eating healthfully, and being responsible for one’s own immune system. My child is not yours to gain from. My child is not a part of a herd.

  70. jacqueline hall says:

While I understand the situation your children were/are in, as a nurse for over 30 yrs I see things from this perspective: Whether it is the vaccinations which “gave” your sons and daughters autism, or not, I contend that more children have been helped than been hurt by vaccinations. No longer do we have epidemics of smallpox, polio, diphtheria etc and that is due to vaccinations children receive. That may be a simplistic way of looking at things but it is, nonetheless, how I see it.

    • ProfessorTMR says:

Jacqueline, many people feel the same way you do. And you are welcome to the feel the way you do, but it is indeed simplistic. Perhaps the rest of us would agree with you if we had stuck with smallpox, polio and diptheria vaccinations, as those actually WERE deadly diseases. However, each one of them had experienced a sharp decline in mortality rates BEFORE the vaccines were introduced. In recent years, however, vaccine policy has gone completely off the rails to the point where people are required to vaccinate their children for things that make no logical sense whatsoever, e.g., vaccinating all newborns for hepatitis B, which the vast majority of infants have NO likelihood of encountering, vaccinating all children for chicken pox (which has generated a ridiculous number of shingles cases in young children), intending to vaccinate all boys AND girls with an HPV vaccine that is said to be likely to have minimal effect on the death rate of cervical cancer, despite the fact that it has caused MAJOR problems in the lives of many young women. And one of the, I hope, unintended consequences is that many children, nearly 50% in this country, are chronically ill. I spent my teenaged years with severe allergies and asthma. It was anything but fun I assure you. Many of today’s children have illnesses that are far worse than anything I had to face and that illness is frequently induced by their medical “care.” There is something wrong with this picture.

      • jamie says:

Thank you professor TMR. You stated what I was thinking. And I am a nurse as well, 23 years, I have eight children. I have done the research and logically concluded as you have.

      • Mia says:

        Dear Professor TMR

Your answer understandably lacks any actual evidence for your allegations.

First of all: ” what are the major problems of HPV vaccine?”
As vaccines go it’s about as safe as you can get. No mercury, no thiomersal, no virus at all. All it contains is virus protein, which will be injected into the arm.
As found in a large study of women (doi:10.1001/jama.2009.1201) most adverse affects are minor and as expected for vaccines (though slightly higher rate for venous thromboembolic events). The numbers so far deviate little from adverse effects seen in control groups.

Second of all: “that is said to be likely to have minimal effect on the death rate of cervical cancer”. Who said that? You? Big whoop. I’ll give you some actual data: it is “predicted that vaccinating girls at 80% coverage will result in a 55% reduction in the overall hrHPV prevalence and a higher 65% reduction in the prevalence of persistent hrHPV infections in females. In males, the reduction will be 42% in the hrHPV prevalence solely by the herd effect from the 80% coverage in girls.” [doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0072088]

The beauty of science is that annecdotes, even if there are many do not prove anything. My friend claims she knows someone who cured cancer with Yoga, and I’m sure my birth control pills made me fat. But without actual scientific experiments this doesn’t mean anything. And if you understand how science works, you will agree.
And yes, these things should be studied, but I have not seen any large scale evidence that proves a link between autism and vaccination.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

Who said that Gardasil will have minimal effect on the death rate of cervical cancer? If you read the following, you will see that that is the view held by Dr. Diane Harper, the chief person responsible for testing Gardasil before its approval. It is also borne out by a mainstream study I quoted in the piece. Approximately 4,000 women die of cervical cancer a year in this country. It will take approximately 60 years of vaccinating in order to save 2,000 lives. That’s a pretty minimal effect. https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/the-evidence-on-gardasil-modern-miracle-or-dangerous-scam/

The beauty of science is it’s ability to answer questions. Anecdotes are the source of many of the questions that science has answered and continues to answer. Many anecdotes are simply unquantified data. If you heard that 15 of your friends also gained weight on the birth control pills, you would hope to see a serious scientific study on the subject, wouldn’t you? But in the meantime, you might be a bit more wary about taking them yourself. If the mainstream medical community were cautious about vaccines given what the anecdotes are saying, people would be a lot more likely to trust them in this process. Not only are they not cautious, they have been adding vaccines to the schedule at a rapid rate without ever testing what the health outcomes are of the overall schedule. In addition, the very clear associations found in the Verstraeten Generation Zero study between early dosage of Thimerosal and neurological conditions and in the CDC study that was published in 2004 between timing of the MMR and autism rates in African American boys were deliberately obfuscated and lied about. I certainly understand how science works, and that is not it.

    • hps says:

“That may be a simplistic way of looking at things but it is, nonetheless, how I see it.”

The problem isn’t the simplicity the problem is that it is wrong.

We never had any reduction of *any* disease. All we had is a reduction in particular labels. Smallpox was replaced with fatal chicken pox, polio was replaced with other forms of acute flaccid paralysis and diphtheria was replaced with strep throat. Further, measles was replaced with fifth disease, pertussis with RSV/croup; hepatitis was replaced with other types of hepatitis, and so on and so on.

Children, according to US census data, are ten times more likely to be disabled today than they were in 1950. The vaccination program has been an unmitigated catastrophe. But doctors pat themselves on the back for the self-fulfilling prophecy generated by the fact that they simply refuse (or at least prefer not) to diagnose various conditions in vaccinated children.

The MMR didn’t lead to a reduction in congenital defects or encephalitis. The polio vaccine didn’t lead to a reduction in the number of crippled children. The hepatitis vaccine didn’t lead to a reduction in liver cancer. The Hib vaccine didn’t lead to a reduction in meningitis, septicemia, pneuomia. The pertussis/diphtheria vaccines didn’t lead to a reduction in respiratory related hospitalisations. They all failed to do what they were specifically designed to do. So instead doctors just told everybody that the only important thing is that they find less proteins today (not that they usually do (or did) look).

      • ProfessorTMR says:

This is not factually true. There ARE far fewer cases of measles and chicken pox today than there were when I was a child. That is a stone-cold fact. Measles and chicken pox were RAMPANT in the early 60s. Almost everyone I knew had the chicken pox. I know very few people who have children today who have had the chicken pox, and almost all of them were not vaccinated. I don’t know ANYONE whose child has had measles. These are not things that could be hidden. Measles is NOT fifth disease. Diphtheria is NOT strep throat. Polio did get redefined so that many cases of polio were no longer counted as polio, but the news of five cases of paralysis in California would not be news if children were still being paralyzed at the rates they were in the 40s and 50s.

It is quite likely that vaccines DO work, to some degree or another, to reduce the number of acute cases of a particular disease. That’s not the issue or the problem. The problem is at what cost do we get that reduction of acute disease? For many of us an accurate reckoning of that cost makes it clear that the cost is too high.

I have as many problems with vaccinations as anyone, but it will not be good for you or anyone else to use things that aren’t true as the basis for your decision.

      • hps says:

Thank you for the reply Professor.

Going to just polio. As I said, rates of disability are ten times the rate they were in 1950 amongst children according to the US census. Here is the data: http://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/ssb/v18n6/v18n6p20.pdf and http://www.census.gov/people/disability/publications/sipp2010.html (Table A-4).

It is true that the 1950s data does not break down types of disability so we cannot say, for instance, that there are ten times as many kids with a crippling condition as there was in 1950 but there was without doubt an increase (in the rate not just the number) of physical disabilities.

This is further backed up with this data showing that there has – in all likelihood – been a dramatic increase in the use of ventilators (we don’t use iron lungs anymore we use positive pressure ventilators) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15139570 (this compares to a total of 1200 iron lungs in the US in 1958.) I realise that data is for Europe but if you extrapolate for population it is clear we are using ventilators at something like 15-30 times the rate we ever did iron lungs. Ventilators are used when the entire body (ie the lungs) are paralysed – often occurring in transverse myelitis sufferers. But it can happen with Guillain Barre and other types of acute flaccid paralysis as well.

      • hps says:

Further to the above. The disability statistics are just as damning for the other vaccines (measles, rubella etc).

The MMR was supposed to virtually eliminate encephalitis and congenital defects (for the measles and rubella components respectively). However, as can be seen, neither of those two things have seen any sort of improvement.

Vaccines only “work” in the sense that the goalposts get shifted to get us to focus on something completely trivial. As far as the actual reason they were introduced is concerned – polio vaccine to reduce paralysis, measles vaccine to reduce encephalitis, rubella vaccine to reduce congenital defects, pertussis/diphtheria to reduce respiratory tract infections they are invariably an abject failure.

Sadly I am no longer considered a “textbook case” from thirty years ago when my daughter became autistic after her MMR vaccine. I will never stop voicing what happened. I cannot turn back time, but I want to continue to voice this truth even from an engraved grave stone.

    Rock on, Blaze. Great Blog.

  74. Laura Hayes says:

Superb article. Thank you, Blaze! I will share it widely. We must all continue to tell the stories of what happened/was done to our children. There are those who have the ears to hear, and we are saving their children, and their families, from the horrors of vaccine injury. Keep up the GREAT work!

  75. Carolyn Gammicchia says:

Thank you for sharing your story and this is what we all must continue to do. The more people that hear the truth, the more they will realize this is what is transpiring in this country and is damage that can be prevented. Our families have nothing to personally gain by sharing our stories and often are subjected to much judgment and even ridicule. However we each have the ability to do this and each of us can advocate and educate.

  76. Great article! I tell a similar story many times a month during work lunches about my 12 yr old daughter when people ask about my family and ppl are amazed of my story when you sound like an intelligent, well versed human who has been through this journey. Their jaws drop when they hear she has recovered and when I simply explain the treatment process they actually get excited. They all know someone with autism and they go tell that person about my story and I try to help. It takes a much longer time to help the masses but at least some are seeing the light! You can see my story at http://www.RescueOurAngels.com/about. Keep spreading the word!

    • Maryellen Parmenter says:

Just to clarify….you’re saying autism is cureable?

      • GJP says:

Some people have had children recover from it. Metal chelation protocols, used on adults showing symptoms comparable to various ASD after industrial exposure to ethylated mercury, have been successful in the past in at least one incident I’m familiar with. That’s easy enough to web search.

  77. Amanda Penn says:

Thank you so much for this. There are people in my family who still believe I’m crazy but I saw what happened. Thank you for voicing what I’ve said a million times.

  78. lynda dorofee says:

Thank you for sharing 🙂 I have many friends and family members that refuse to open their eyes! I do not have a child effected by vaccines. I decided not to vaccinate after researching everything I could. The awful gut feeling I had towards vaccinating my son was so strong. At the time I didn’t know why. I am so glad I decided to go with my gut feeling. It is very aggravating to constantly explain yourself to people. Most people get a bit freaked out when I tell them my son is not vaccinated. Some won’t let their kids hang out with my son. As if my son is going to get their vaccinated kid sick! It makes no sense if they truly believe they are protecting their kids by vaccinating! I refuse to shut my mouth, I will defend my beliefs until the day I die! If I can help save one child from going through this, it is worth all the backlash! Thanks again. Keep sharing your story 🙂

I had a friend share her truth with me. I wasn’t interested in hearing. Then I had my first son. I started reading. 3 kids later, and hours and hours and nights and nights of research, none of them are vaccinated. I am so very thankful for someone who shared her truth with me. I wish I could be as brave as her. I am so fearful government will step in and take my children one day because I have not vaccinated them.. I don’t share their medical history for fear of government. I will protect them in all ways.. I commend those who speak out. ANd I intend to at some point. When they are older and not entirely dependent on me I will proudly share my decision. When the country is sick and suffering, while the unvaxed will be strong and immune to many things that those vaxed will not be immune to.. They will have a stronger immune system.
And for anyone who says Vaccines do NOT cause autism. Well, good luck with that! Why does it take a tragedy for someone to realize!!???

      • Chris says:

You make get away with this until they reach college age, but they will die eventually or make others sick due to your ignorance. Congratulations Mary you have a wonderful tin foil hat.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

It’s this kind of comment that drives me crazy. “They will die eventually”? Seriously? WE WILL ALL DIE EVENTUALLY! You cannot avoid DEATH by vaccinating. It is going to happen to all of us, no matter what. But people who DON’T fall in line with the prevailing paradigm of pharmaceutical industry-induced fear are more likely to get through their lives healthy. THIS is fear mongering, pure and simple. The odds that death will come earlier to Mary’s children because she didn’t vaccinate them just aren’t there, but that clearly doesn’t matter to those who are intent on scaring the rest of the world into falling in line with their agenda — an agenda based upon fear and greed and not actual risk factors.

      • Lara says:

I don’t understand how people can look at what these pharmaceutical companies do with their other meds and trust them.

Merck and Vioxx. US DOJ brought a fraud lawsuit against them on that one for marketing practices. Concealing the risk of cardiovascular events from investors, revealed in the company’s own earlier studies, brought a securities fraud lawsuit. Of course, civil lawsuits from those they actually killed.

Bayer. Granted their vaccines tend to be for your pets or your food supply. Xarelto, Yaz birth control, infecting thousands of hemophiliacs with HIV. All resulting in lawsuits related to marketing or covering up data related to the dangers of their product.

Pfizer. Neurontin. Fraudulent marketing practices lawsuits. Civil lawsuits ongoing for depression and suicide. It is now a scheduled drug in many states, including mine. Bextra, drug similar to Vioxx, with the same issues and lawsuits.

Back to Merck, in 2010 two whistleblowers came forward with a suit stating that Merck has been falsifying its efficacy data on the mumps portion of its vaccine for years in order to claim 95% efficacy and retain its monopoly with the US government. The suit is ongoing.

    • asymptote-bag says:

Perhaps the reason why people are “freaked out” when you inform them that your child has not been vaccinated is because they do not want to take the risk of their own child getting infected by yours. A vaccine injects a small portion of weak or dead bacteria into a human’s body, to help teach their immune system to recognize and defeat the disease. Without a vaccine, your child is far more accessible to potentially life-threatening illnesses than those who have vaccinated. Therefore, those people believe that your child may be carrying dangerous illnesses and they do not want to risk exposing their child to your child’s potential illness.

      • ProfessorTMR says:

You may think that without vaccines a child “is far more accessible to potentially life-threatening illnesses,” but that doesn’t bear out, and it CERTAINLY doesn’t bear out that a well unvaccinated child is significantly more likely to be “carrying” a “potentially life-threatening illness” than a vaccinated child. The IPV does not prevent transmission of polio. The acelluar pertussis vaccine does not prevent transmission of pertussis. As a matter of fact, a vaccinated person is MORE likely to transmit pertussis than an unvaccinated person, because an unvaccinated person with pertussis is SICK and knows to stay away from others. A pertussis infection in a vaccinated person, on the other hand, can present as a minor cold or without symptoms at all, so that the vaccinated person continues to go to work or travel on public transportation never knowing that each cough is putting others at risk of pertussis. Tetanus is not contagious. Bacterial meningitis is just BARELY contagious. You can’t catch hepatitis B from someone if they don’t bite you or have sex with you. Chickenpox isn’t dangerous. Measles was considered a mild self-limiting disease, unlikely to cause problems in well-nourished children, before the vaccine was developed.

So people may BELIEVE that “your child may be carrying dangerous illnesses,” but there is very little basis for that belief. In addition, if vaccines are supposed to protect you, vaccinated people should be afraid FOR unvaccinated children, not afraid OF them. And there is no need for your worry. Most people with both vaccinated and unvaccinated children find that the unvaccinated ones are the healthier ones by far.
